You will be picked up from the internal flight by private speed boat and taken straight to the resort for a welcome chat and discussion.
The owners are Kenya born and have a superbly relaxed yet attentive style - they also have some great tales to tell.
The resort is based on an Eco-lodge philosophy - solar powers for each of the banda's that guests stay in allowing plenty of hot water and electricity.
There are 6 banda's in total with sea veiws and sand right outside each Banda. The site market's itself as ";No news and no shoes"; and I can testify to enjoying both of these.
Banda's have centrally placed double beds that are wonderfully comfortable, with mosquito netting around the beds that is lowered down late afternoon by the room attendants as they also pull fold back the sheets into decorative designs. From our experience at this time of the year there was nothing that could bite us so the nets were more romatic than required.
Bamboo blinds allow the sea breeze and the moonlight/early moring sunlight to be controlled as guests require - some days we wanted to wake up at dawn - other days we did not!
Within each Banda there is a bed hammock as well with views of the sea and also a set of sun loungers and umbrella for each banda with a secluded area of the beach for each set of guests.
There is an eco toilet in each banda (it looks and operates just as a normal toilet so you will not know any difference). There is also a shower cubicle with massive shower heads allowing a great hot shower each day.
Food can be eaten either in the Banda or in the main bar/dining area with the other guests - an option that we chose in light of the great company that that offered.
Food is generally more than you eat at home with fresh local fruit in the morning with toast, tea and coffee and also a choice of brekfast eggs, sausages, bacon etc. If you ask nicely pancakes are also available.
Lunch and supper is generally 3 courses with a focus on fish, lobster, crab and some meats (all very local and fresh).
You also have the option of squeezing in tea and cakes/biscuits at 4pm served at your banda should hunger pangs hit you.
Washing is taken away and returned the next day ironed for you as well, and the bar is well stocked with liquor and very well placed for sunset.
Activites are available for those that want them - snorkelling, scuba (Both better from November - March); Fishing off the beach, boat on the reef or Mangrove (for those that want to eat what they catch this is also a possibility); Sailing in a little mirror dingy; Beach combing up and down the beach at high/low tide; Walks or boat trips into nearby villages; Superb Reiki, massage, pedicure, manicure services also are available.
For us we wanted somewhere to chill out and relax - this perfectly hit the spot with the facilities and the superbly friendly staff.
We will be back.
