Had upgraded prior to arrival to Superior room. Given double + single bed family room in shabby (but clean)room, spacious. Bathroom somewhat old and mouldy. Not happy, agreed to stay there 1 night with view to moving next morning. If staff had been unable to find better room I would have been asking Kuoni to change hotels. This was not my idea of 1st class, luxurious as described in Kuoni brochure and hotel website.
Bed was wooden, old and very creaky, hard as nails! Ancient old dark wood headboard and furnishings, water stained and tatty, well past 'sell by' date. Moved to miles nicer room next day, king size bed, refurbed room with rattan style furnishings and comfy bed. Sheets definitely changed daily but tended to be a trifle grey and limp. Towels also changed daily but still had a tendency to smell a bit musty.
Resort has ongoing refurb and all public areas and external building look great, think 'ongoing' means some rooms are done and some aren't! Gardens and general environment are very nice, rooms in 2 story blocks or 20 rooms, 8 (?) blocks plus detached de-luxe cottages/suites. Ground floor rooms are superior, larger with patio and sun loungers. Standard rooms 1 floor, smaller with balcony and chairs.
Food: Plenty of choice if AI or half board. Usually combination of buffet and service. Other eating places if you pay extra. Couple of bars.
Pool: pretty nice, clean. Plenty of sunbeds (sun and shade) and towels supplied. 2 areas of 'beach' if you like to park in sand and look at the sea. Separate from beach 'proper' to avoid guests being bothered by beach boys.
Activities: Lots by the pool, evenings varied, not too bad on the whole.
Small supermarket out of resort and to the left, about 5 mins on right hand side. Other eating places outside but not advisable to walk to them at night, they all supply free transport, reception will book table and transport.
All in all a nice hotel/resort. Staff very friendly. If your room is shabby ask to change it although you may have to upgrade from standard. I'd stay there again.

The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The first couple of days we paid for our food and drinks in cash ended up giving lots of tips. I would advice you to sign for all your food and drinks and charge it to your room and settle your bill every couple of days to keep an eye on how much you are spending. At the end of the holiday you can then tip the staff you feel appropriate to tip.
Food and drinks were UK prices, I expected them to be cheaper. A cocktail will set you back 495ks which is approx £4.00. We calculated that we spent £90 on water alone (2 weeks at the hotel).. A bottle of water will set you back 140ks (£1.10). If you go out of the complex, take a left, you will find a supermarket on the right hand side (5 min walk) you can buy a bottle of water for 40ks (35p). The hotel does not allow you to bring it back onto the complex but we were never stopped!!
The evening meal in the hotel was awfull, breakfast was nice. Out of the 22 people in our party, 19 came down with either an upset tummy or vomitting. You will have a roasted joint one night and the next night it will be in a stew of some kind!!!!
We booked a Safari whilst there, we went on the two day Tsavo Park - Lion Rock Camp. It was the most amazing accommodation I have ever seen and the view over Tsavo West Park and Mt Kilimanjaro were amazing. The accommodation is set on a hill face (I would class it as a mountain).
When you are on the beach, be carefull as to how much you are being charged for goods, shop around 1st and go back towards to the end of your holiday when you know what you really want. I found the trader at the bottom of the steps in the hotel (next to the pizza place) was the best craftsman out of all the rest - check the quality of his work compared to the others...

Have just returned from the Leopard Beach Hotel and I was very impressed with the hotel, its location and the excellent service of the staff. The hotel is set on cliffs on the beautiful white Diani Beach.
Hotel - luxurious and set in beautiful landscaped grounds. A number of bars. Evening meals are located in different places every night, depending on the weather. One night it was on the beach which was absolutely lovely. The service and attention from the staff is excellent and they work so hard and such long hours. Most evenings there is some form of entertainment.Perhaps the only thing I was a little disappointed in was the standard room. It has everything you need but I expected it too be a little more luxurious and the beds are very hard, which I found uncomfortable.
Beach - white powdery sands, warm waters.
There are sellers but they are not allowed to approach you on the private part of the beach. The only problem you have is when you go down to the waters edge or walk along the beach, but a firm, no thank you, is enough. Also there is security on the beach at all times so you will have no problems.
I had a wonderful holiday at the Leopard Beach and would recommend it to anyone. Enjoy!

The people here are very friendly shouting 'Jambo' - hello at you at every opportunity. The hotel looks very nice with low buildings with thatched roofs and plenty of comfy sitting areas with hammocks, sofas etc.
We had a ground floor room which came with it's own patio so you could sunbathe - according to weather on your doorstep which was nice as is saved the early morning scramble to get a seat by the pool - pool very small and seating taken by 9am, alternatively there are two beaches one small one which is quite private but still served by waiters at the pool bar for drinks etc and one larger one on the other side however this is where the locals resided so as soon as you stepped foot near the sea they were by your side. The sea - was cool, snorkelling was disappointing and it is full of black sea urchins so beware of going in bare foot - also beware of the tides as they are very strong and high.
Food - the half board restaraunt offers you 5 courses per night with 3 of these courses being waiter served. I must admit we were not very impressed with the range or quality of food for the main course you had 2 choices and if you look for chips and roast potatoes on you holiday you will be dissapointed. There is a great Pizza/Pasta bar open till 10pm and a good pool bar doing burgers, chips sandwiches etc open till 6pm or alternatively you can order room service which is what we ended up doing in the end.
Things to do - well you can watch the monkeys for free and these are very entertaining but great thiefs so do not leave things lying around or your bedroom doors open, they did run safaris but they did not recommend the day trips instead wanted you to go on an overnight one by road at a cost of £200 per person, as it was raining so much we did not feel like spending £400 to be bumped around the back of a minibus for several hours to see no animals as they had the sense to hide.
To sum up this hotel and ground were nice and fairly cheap for drinks etc (you sign for everything) the beach was dissappointing with locals pestering you and seaweed and slime on the rocks to the beach to the right of the hotel. If you want to get away and do nothing but sunbathe it's great if however you want to go in the sea or pool it's not the best of places to go and if you want to leave your hotel it is not recommended.
It took us 2 hours to travel from the airport to the hotel along rough tracks as they have no tarmac roads, we also had to take a ferry ride - the poverty is unbelievable and it is everywhere.
If I were ever to consider a safari in the future I would stay at the Holiday Inn in Nairobi and do days trips from there as the National Parks are only a matter of miles away.
This will not be on our list of places to revisit

The safari was exhausting but well worth the effort. Food was terrific but we did all get upset stomachs - par for the course I think. Take lots of Loperamide and Diorylite. We ran out but a pharmacist gave us a useful tip - a can of Fanta with a teaspoon of salt is just as good!! You will get very dirty from the dust so take masses of wet wipes and loo paper is very handy. It was very hot (38) and we found it essential to wear long sleeves (cheesecloth was no good!) for protection from sun and mossies (and tsetse flies). There were many early morning starts (two at 4am!!) but it meant we saw all the big five and many others, even tree lions and a leopard resting in a tree. Our guide Kavishe was a fountain of knowledge and we also visited a Masai encampment.
I spent the second week at the Leopard Beach Hotel and was amazed at the standard all round. Beautifully set in acres of gardens with a pure white sandy beach, and yes, there were the inevitable sellers on the beach, but please bear in mind that they are poor - there is 80% unemployment so their money has to go a long way. The people are charming - dignified, warm and welcoming, and to my delight loads of them support the Arsenal!! Although Mombasa is hot and humid I do recommend the half day tour. They take you to a wonderful Hindu temple, the old Portugues quarter of the town and a worker's cooperative called Akamba where you see them wood carving - and the prices in the shop are very reasonable.
Would I go back? You bet!!
