Just returned from Tiwi Beach Resort and it was fantastic, the hotel provided lots of facilities including a gym, nightclub, business centre, beauty salon, diving centre and a varied entertainment programme. The hotel itself is very impressive and spotless at all times, the food was very good and varied spread accross 5 different restaurants and a coffee shop, don't miss the pancakes and waffles in the afternoon they are gorgeous. The tea and coffee are as good as british brands as are the sausages at breakfast!
The staff are all wonderfull expect to be greeted with ";Jambo"; from everyone you meet, they are very friendly paying high attention to detail and service, and they work very hard.
We went on a 2 day safari to Tsavo east/west and stayed at Voi safari lodge and Ngulia safari lodge, they were both fantastic with breathtaking views of the plains. I definitely want to do another safari, possibly the Masai Mara or the Serengheti next!
The poverty in Kenya is evident wherever you go and we gave away lots of shoes, clothes etc, we specificly took lots of stationary with us to give to local children, everything was gratefully recieved.
Tiwi beach hotel has mainly french and german guests but this did not concern us at all,we did meet about 6 other Brits while we were at the hotel, so if you look hard enough we are there!
overall the hotel and staff were brilliant and Kenya is Amazing, we met someone at the hotel who were on their 11th stay at the hotel, that speaks for itself

The transfer from the airport was the first ";experience"; of the holiday, a little 8 seater bus took us for miles over dirt tracks and deep into the country side. This was the most amazing way to start a holiday, we had arrived in Africa and it was fantastic. I had never imagined i would enjoy a transfer, but there is so much to see it flew by.
The Tiwi beach hotel was really welcoming with cold towels to cool us down as we checked in. The high thatched roofs and open walls all add to the colonial feel of the place. Rooms are all set around the pool and were spacious and clean. The bathroom was a bit dated, but was spotless so i didn't mind.
The pool offers hours of amusement for all ages as i found out when my 27 year old boyfriend flew head first down the slide. The locals say the Tiwi beach has the best pool in Kenya and i can see why, quiet, large, clean and fun!!!.
The sea gave us the best of both worlds snorkelling in the morning when the coral was exposed and swimming in the afternoon when the tide came in. Fantastic.
Included in the price of the holiday was a 2 day elephant safari, which was really good, an experience to say the least and really worth the time out to go along.
Although we didnt go on the big game safari's other people we met over there did and they couldn't stop talking about it. The photos were amazing and the animals are breathtaking. It is worth checking out the local travel agents first because they are cheaper than trips in the hotel.
We opted to take the Seahorse safari, a day out on a boat, and really enjoyed it. Dolphins swam alongside the boat, jumping and playing for ages, the most magnificent sight. We then snorkelled off coral islands which was amazing, wonderful colours of fish and coral. The crew really helped the non swimmers to get in and see the sights of the ocean. We even found Nemo!!!!!!!
We travelled around in Taxi's to get gifts and essentials and its fine to leave the hotel, although you'd probably want to go on an organised tour to Mombasa itself.
The majority of the guests were French so making friends was a bit difficult but we still had a ball.
Watch out for the monkeys (they love pringles) and the crabs on the beach (not amusing as i have a phobia).
A really relaxing holiday, so sit back, soak up the sun and enjoy the breeze off the beatiful Indian Ocean.
All in all this was possibly one of the best holidays we have ever had, and would definitely return to Kenya.
