Pan Pac is very good hotel, a little way out of the city centre.MRT station is just across road. Buy a 20 ringett MRT ticket, -it will last you for days and is easy to use.Petronas towers very impressive but long queues to go up,- KL tower is good substitute and very informative. Go up on your first day and it will help you get your bearings.

We had some great chinese meals at roadside restaurants in china town, -(catch MRT to Plaza Rakyat and keep left as you exit the station). Also worth finding is the Coliseum cafe,- a real throw back to the 1920's, with the same bar and menu as then.Great steaks and puddings.(If anyone orders a sizzler have a camera ready, you'll know what I mean). The lakeside gardens are worth a look round,-it's worth paying to enter the bird garden.

Alot of the muslim restaurants do not sell alchohol so if you want a beer or wine with your meal, just check first.

As with all 5* hotels, eating and drinking is expensive at the Pan Pac.There is a shopping precinct called The Mall just across the road with a very good, cheap food court underneath. But if you like a few beers on an evening be prepared to travel or pay a good £5+ for a pint of tiger at the hotel.

In conclusion, we enjoyed K.L.very much and will return. Its cleaner and not as hectic as Bangkok, although the traffic still gets pretty bad.

Pan Pacific is an excellent hotel, a fair distance from the main sites but with taxi fares so cheap this wasn't a problem. K.L. Tower was very informative and well run. If you go to Petronas Towers suggest you go early as they only have a limited number of tickets per day (closed Mondays). Karaoke bar in Bukit Bintang (can't remember the name - too much Tiger that night!) full of locals and very friendly. Beware the vicious monkeys in the Lake Gardens! Chinatown very buzzing at night, well worth a wander around (if it's not too hot).

The Pelangi Beach Resort was excellent, we didn't use the restaurants (apart from the beach bar one lunchtime) as there are plenty of restaurants around to try. Particularly liked the Orchid Ria, The Lighthouse (limited menu but excellent location) and Cafe d'Padi (take a look at the Rice Museum and wander around the Padi fields whilst there) and Champor Champor. Food was great in most places and found wine very reasonably priced. Didn't travel too far but did visit Kuah, cable car and did island hop which all worth while.
