When we arrived in Singapore airport we were very pleased with how organised everything was. As soon as we got to the carousel our luggage was waiting and our Kuoni rep was waiting for us at the other side. Singapore was fantastic and we would love to go there again. The highlights were the night safari and Sentosa island. We had a brilliant time there. Our favourite bar was Brewerkz on Clarke Quay which had its own micro-brewery and was a huge hit with my Husband who loves real ales. Another good bar for the night was Hooters, where there was a band playing who were fantastic.
Dont be scared to use the public transport, its is so easy and cheap to use. A couple of times we got totally lost when walking round but we always felt safe. The Novotel is a really nice hotel and was always clean and everyone was really friendly. At 5pm in the bar it is happy hour and you get buy one get one free which always went down well.
We were in Singapore for 3 days and we spent over £400 so it can be quite expensive.
PENANG was quite a surprise to us. We were expecting a couple of hotels dotted about and not much else but it wasn't. There was quite a lot of hotels along the main road and loads of restaurants. There was only a couple of bars of which the best was The Art Area. If you go in here you have to write your name on the wall.
The sea is very murky and it isnt safe to go in the sea as there are loads of jellyfish. We stayed in the Holiday Inn and it was a nice hotel. We had paid extra to have a balcony and it was well worth it as there are only a few rooms that have balconies. The pool is nice and there is a childrens pool which is handy to dip your feet into to cool down. We are used to hot places but the heat was unbearable. As soon as you came out at night your clothes stuck to you because it was so humid.
The monkey beach was a good day out. We booked with the Kuoni rep and it was 1/3rd of the price and you got longer there than the shops outside the hotel.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would love to go again.

Direct flight from London Heathrow to Penang on 21/02/2004 with Malaysian Airways ,wonderfull flight ,very frendly polite staff on board ,nothing was to much trouble which set the tone for our entire stay in Malaysia. We spent 9 nights in The Holiday Inn in Penang before moving onto KL where we spent 4 nights at The Grand Plaza Park Royal.
The staff in the Holiday Inn were wonderfull. The spaceous rooms that were cleaned every day also feathered a safe ,tv ,ac and a walk in power shower.
The Hotel is situated near the night markets where you can buy the latest cd,s ,dvd,s designer clothes and rolex watches. The restuarants and food hawker stalls"; where you can eat 3 coures for under £2 and Chang beer is 5rm for a small bottle and 10 for a pint"; only a short walk.
Breakfast at the Hotel is 38rm (aprox£5) not to expensive.Lovelly pool area and pleasant beach with the only downside being that the sea water is very dirty and not many people ventured in.However we did 2 trips to Langkawi coral ,a coral island aprox 2 hours boat ride away ,cost 160 rms each(aprox £22).That was superb, snorkelling eqipment provided ,we saw vast array of colourfull feef fish includeing a few reef sharks and 1 or 2 barracuda.
We also visited Kek Lok Si Temple and the botanical gardens ,spotted a few Monkeys but we were unable to ride the funicular railway as it is out action due to an accident that occured before christmas and is likelly to out of service for about a year.
Spent the last 4 days in Kualla Lumpur ,Very nice Hotel ,again excellant service ,lovelly room ,frendley staff.
Plenty of shopping malls outside the hotel including a debenhams store at the hugh Times Square Mall opposite. Visted the Petronas Towers ,usefull to get there early as it aviods the big ques and the lenghy waits ,addmision is free but we still had to que for a ticket, bags ect are searched before going up in the lift.Spectaculiar night view can also be had from the KL Tower just a few blocks away from the Petronas. Also worth visiting is The museum and the batu caves.
Transport in KL is very cheap ,less than £2 to go caves ,aprox 8 miles away. The Monorail is also a cheap and easy way to get around.
