Fun Island is a great resort - nice size with a great sandy beach all round and very friendly staff. The long pier is great to get you out to the house reef which is fantastic for snorkelling or beginners diving.
The diving centre is very good and well priced - my wife and I had a 3 dive package for $175 each which gave an introduction lesson with 25 minute dive on the reef, a 40 minute dive and a 40 minute boat dive on a different reef. The instructors were very good and made the whole experience great fun but very relaxing as well. Loads of other watersports if you can fit them in - the days seemed to fly past with snorkelling, sunbathing, canoeing and diving. Small complaint about the cost for hire of snokelling gear $10/day so worth packing your own - will take up the space left by the shoes you don't need to pack.
Food is quite good but I found a bit more variety would be good - in particular with some lighter options for lunch - lunch and dinner seemed much the same most days. Beach bar is good and usually not too busy but it should open later - shuts at 7pm.
Would recommend this resort but would suggest booking direct if you can and get a scheduled Emirates flight to avoid the dreaded Monarch.
Arrived at Fun Island after a 45 minute boat trip from the airport and all I could say is WOW.
We were greeted by the friendly staff with cool towels and a welcome cocktail which really started off our holiday.

What a fantastic holiday we had. On arrival to the room the gentleman asked if everything was ok with the room. It was very cool as they had put the air con on for our arrival. We had twin beds and when we said we would make it into a double in no time at all our request had been granted. The rooms are spacious and clean and all you need.
The food on Fun Island is excellent. I am a vegetarian and the staff pointed out each day what everything was. I have been on holiday before where there has been limited vegetarian food but not here. The waiting staff were very friendly and attended to your needs with efficiency.
You could grab a drink from 10 am to midnight which was brilliant as it does get very hot. One word of advice dont overdo the sun on the first day as you will regret it for the rest of your holiday as some Brits found out.
The island itself is great with the long jetty in which you have to snorkel off. I had never seen such an array of fish. The funniest thing was when someone threw bread in and the fish came from everywhere which was an icredible sight and a good laugh as you couldnt move for fish and I felt I had swallowed twenty packs of salt and vinegar crisps.
The evenings were very relaxed with entertainment on in which if you wanted to watch you could otherwise you could really chill out at the coffee shop with excellent waiters who where always game for a laugh. They made my birthday very specical and one to remember.
There were excursions on offer such as island hopping and night fishing but if you didnt want to go you never had a rep trying their hardest to get you to go, they left you alone.
We made some excellent friends in the Maldives and it is a holiday I will never forget. We cant wait to book again and get back over there even if it means enduring the 12.5 hour flight.
I would like to thank all the staff for making our holiday a fnatastic one.
