Meeru is a very beautiful island with plenty to do and although the island was fully booked it felt like it was half empty.

The rooms are very high standard and have everything needed. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Water Villa for the first week which was one of the newly built ones (300's). We were almost at the end which was a long walk to get to the beach but the steps down into the water made it great for snorkling. BEWARE - being new the matress was very, very firm which was too uncomfortable for me so I did not sleep to well, also I found that the water crashing around under the villa a bit noisy. Our room did not have a DVD as it should have which never materialised despite mentioning it a few times. for the second week we stayed in a Jacuzzi Water Villa which again was a newly built one (100's) which was of the same standard as the previous room (although the matress was a bit more comfortable!)

All the Jacuzzi Land Villa's are on the west side of the island which is the best side for the powder soft beach and sunsets. The Land, Water and Jacuzzi Water Villa's are all on the east side which is better for snorkling although the beach is more eroded and has a lot of washed up coral. Most days we walked round the island which took around 45 minutes.

The food is very good buffet style 'all you can eat' with lots of choice. We went all inclusive however not everything is inclusive unlike Mexico, Carribean etc. The mini bar, room service, other restaurants on the island, selected drinks and drinks from the bar before 10:30am are not all inclusive. We did hear people complaining in reception when being hit with a bill at the end of their stay.

For everything else you need to know about Meeru look at meeruisland co uk and meeru com.

We would go back again but there are another 90 resort islands in the Maldives to try!

Booked holiday through Hayes and Jarvis who provided first class service. We flew Sri-Lankan airways via Colombo which was quite a long flight although a nice short transfer from there to Male.

Our holiday started with our seaplane transfer to Meeru and we were the only 2 on the plane. Seaplane was amazing - the pilot and co-pilot were barefoot! The co-pilot was more than happy to take pictures for us from his open window which turned out really well.

Greeted at Meeru by our HandJ rep with a refreshing drink and driven to our accomodation while our luggage was transported for us. All the staff on the island were exceptionally friendly and accomodating. We stayed at the adult only Meeru Village in a water bungalow which was out of this world. Steps down into the warm ocean were fantastic. The noise of the water at night was a little loud at night but also calming.

We ate out at the restaurant every night apart from one where we decided to have room service. Food was very good and there was enough choice to have something different almost every night.

Scuba diving was amazing, the instructors are fantastic and very professional. The snorkelling trips are also excellent although you might have to get your name down early as they are popular. Saw all sorts of marine life when snorkelling / diving - Moray eels, Clown fish, Reef sharks (they are small and harmless)even Octopuss and Turtles.

Night fishing was fun too - definitely worth considering if you are going.

We also had treatments at the spa which was extremely relaxing. We went to the over water spa although there were 2 of them.

There is lots to do on Meeru - certainly enough to keep you busy for a couple of weeks.

It's hard to say how much we enjoyed our stay on Meeru and hope to return again in the near future.

This holiday was absolute paradise.

Meeru Island - pure paradise. We went to Meeru following 5 days in Dubai as part of our Honeymoon.

We booked a Jacuzzi land villa and on arrival were advised that our room (110) was one of the newly built villas on the recently refurbished side of the island. Absolutely amazing!! The villa itself was stunning although we were a little dubious about the open-air bathroom we soon got used to it. Our balcony looked out onto the most beautiful sea view ever!! The weather was very mixed during our 8 days there and although constant sunshine would have been very nice it certainly didn't spoil our holiday.

All staff at the resort were fantastic and looked after us during our stay. We of course tipped them but this is only what they deserve. We booked all-inclusive and feel that this was fantastic value for money. I doubt many people could do full breakfast, full lunch and full evening meal every day (we tried and failed one day when it rained constantly). The drinks were fine, especially the GandT's and the evening entertainment was very good although there wasn't something on every night.

Having spent 5 days in Dubai prior to the Maldives and wanted a chill out week. A fantastic, beautiful Island that is highly recommended for exactly that - Chill Out.

We would definitely go again but having had a taste of the Maldives it would be interesting to try another one of the Islands.

I've never been somewhere so pretty. At times it felt like we were on our own island and thats even when it was 98% full.

The first thing I have to mension is the food. Absolutly fantastic. They cook quite alot of things right in front of you so its all very fresh. There is a variety of dishes to choose from too, from typical maldivian style food to pasta, chicken, steak and occasionally chips. The presentation of everything was amazing. They would serve puddings in glasses and create sculptures out of fruit.

The bar was great to sit at in the evenings. It was right on the beach so it had a really good atmosphere. Twice a week they had a band in there which was quite good too.

I wouldnt say that this island caters for young children. It has a childrens pool but thats about it. There were quite alot of teenage kids which was quite surprising as I thought it would mainly have couples on their honeymoon!

In places the current was quite strong so I would recommend taking flippers if you have some although you can hire them for about $3 a day I think. The coral was quite sharp too so wearing sutiable shoes in the water is a good idea. They also recommend wearing shoes to protect yourself from the occasional stingray! We went on a snorkelling trip to a house reef which was about 15 mins boat ride away. Saw some amazing fish. I think its worth doing although if youre not up for it they have a snorkelling trail around the top of the island. They have a diving centre on the island too if you want to have a go at that.

Take some strong insect repellant and make sure you wear it in the evenings as they have alot of mosquitos there. These numbers are controlled though as there are men who spray the area to kill them off.

I had a very good holiday on this island and I am interested in going back there next year.

'WOW' What a holiday from the minute we arrived to the minute we left 'paradise'
We arrived on Meeru after a 50 minute speedboat journey from the airport to be greeted and escorted to reception where we were given a refreshing drink and information about the island, we were then taken to our land villa, we were situated at the end of the island near to the asian wok very beautiful and peaceful. The sand was white the sea turquoise. We went all inclusive well worth it the food was brilliant plenty of choice and rarely repeated.
The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Plenty to do if you wanted lots of excursions, snorkelling and diving.

We will definately be back.
