I booked this holiday 4 weeks before we travelled, i knew some of the islands in the maldives were hit by the tsunami so we weren't really too sure what to expect.
After the 10 hr flight from gatwick we finally arrived at male and into temperatures of 35 degrees. We had a speedboat transfer to the island which took 55mins and then got transfered to ur land villa. I cant really find the words to describe how fantastic this island is.
The sea is like being in a warm bath and is home to stingrays and sharks which you have to watch because they live very close to the waters edge.
We booked the all inclusive option and were very impressed with the food, they catered for all tastes and the best thing was there wasnt any burgers and chips in site. There were a number of different excusions you could book,i.e boat trips and shopping for the day in male, and they were all reasonably priced, these we highly reccommend.THe best thing about this holiday was that we did nothing other than sit in the sun, chill out and eat good food.We met some really nice people and the locals were really friendly, and there wasnt any vicki pollards in site, like you would get in tenerife or majorca[ yeah but no but].
If your idea of a holiday is peaceful, relaxing with a bit of snorkelling or scuba diving thrown in, then this is the place for you, I will definately be going back.

When we arrived after a gruelling flight with stopovers( never again next time i will get a direct) i was too exhausted to take it all in properly but it was clear we had arrived in paradise.
We were given our rooms and we had added an upgrade from a standard room to a beach bungelow and it was amazing. We stepped off our terrace and ten steps later we were in the bluest clearest water ever.
The rooms were beautiful a very large bed and plenty of storage space. the bathroom and shower are outdoors but are totally secure so noone can see you bathing it is a surreal experience showering outside i can highly reccommend it.
The island is tiny although it is one of the larger ones you can walk around it in half an hour. It is truly the most amazing place and as i write this i feel as if i maybe dreamed it it was so perfect.
We were all inclusive and all food is served in the main resteraunt which is great. The waiters are super they make you feel at home and pander to your every whim. the food is brilliant absoloutly great and nothing bad to say about any of it. Fantastic choice and all delicious.
Every evening there is something different to do one night there was a a band on another night crab racing another a film another dancers all great and the atmosphere is ace you could never be bored you are just so thankful to be there and very chilled out the whole time.
I didnt wear shoes while i was there you just feel free and in another world. All my stresses and strains were forgotton while on this paradise island
As soon as i got back i immediatley booked to go again in october 2005 so that tells you what i thought this time i am going to paradise island but nothing will ever compare to my first time in the maldives so if you are going for the first time i really envy you!!
