We got taken from the airport in our own private speed boat. The journey is about an hour but its a good experience.
When we arrived at the Taj coral reef, it was so different from what we expected, turquoise blue waters and white soft sand, it was fantastic.
We stayed in a lagoon villa which I recommend to everyone because the Beach Villa's are slightly smaller. The lagoon villas are massive with a super king size bed, walk in shower, a tv and dvd player, boss air conditioning and a view that was out of this world.
The food was lovely and they had a wide variety of things ranging from japanease food, indian, italian and good old english food ( the breakfasts were lovely!!!!) A little tip though is to go all inclusive as it is very very expensive to eat and drink there!
At night a lot of people went to bed early but with us being young we were usually up til last! There was entertainment every night and the disco of a saturday is highly recommended!!!
The bar staff were very very friendly and if you go look out for TOM and KANNAN who made us feel extremely welcome and also got us very drunk!
Also, look out for JAZZ who was a chef by day and DJ by night!
Everywhere was clean and tidy and there were no creepy crawlies (mosquito's, cockroaches or nething like that)!
As a younger couple we would definatly go back to this island as it was brilliant and we definatly would recommend it!!!
Have a great holiday if you decided to choose here!

We arrived in Male after a very long wait in Sri Lanka for our transfer. We flew Emirates and then had to transfer to Qatar as the Emirates flight to Male was cancelled. The Emirates flight from Heathrow was fantastic-helpful, pleasant staff and a constant supply of snacks and drinks. When we arrived, we were told that the seaplanes do not operate at night and as we had not confirmed our arrival time, we would have to wait for the next boat in 4 hours! Make sure your travel agent (or yourself) confirms your arrival time with the resort so you avoid this happening.
After 1 hour on the boat, we finally arrived at midnight and despite the long journey there, we fell in love with this fantastic place instantly and forgot our tiredness!
We stayed in a beach villa which was smart and clean and has both an inside and outside shower. The sand is like talcum powder and each villa has a hammock just outside where I spent a lot of my time reading by the sea. We were going BandB but changed to All Inclusive and it is definitely worth it. If you want to hire out canoes, pedaloes, windsurfing equipment etc it can be expensive but free with AI. Cocktails were around $8.50 but the choice for AI was huge and the Barmen will make them to suit your taste!. Water was $3.50.
The staff in this resort are fantastic-so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The chefs come out daily to discuss dietary preferences. We mentioned to one of the chefs that we like fish but would like to try it cooked in a different way. When we arrived for dinner, the chef sent over a parcel of baked fish that had been marinated in thai spices and it was delicious. There was always lots of choice and a pasta bar most days.
We chose to go on an Ultimate Combination day. This starts with a boat ride to a lagoon sand bank with champagne. After 10 minutes of our arrival however, we got caught up in a storm and had to take shelter under the towels as the sand hurt. We were relieved when the boat came to get us and onto the next part of the day-a couples neck and back massage in the lovely spa. The tiny girls from Bali sure have some power behind them and we enjoyed the massage so much, we booked in for more pampering sessions over the next couple of days. In the evening, we were having a meal on the beach but Prince, the restaurant Manager had arranged for us to have a romantic meal for two on the decking of a private beach bar, complete with our own waiter and candles. The food was outstanding and the staff work really hard to make it special for you.
We spent 9 days here and the last 4 days were very rainy and overcast. In fact, on the last day, a lot of the beach had been washed away by the tide and the shutters were pulled down on the bar and restaurant area. The bad weather experienced in SE India had made its way to the Maldives but despite this, we made lovely friends with other holiday makers and staff and had fun drinking cocktails and having spa treatments. We were told that Feb-March is the best time to go to avoid rain.
The Maldives is amazing and the staff at the Taj Coral Reef made this the best holiday we have ever had. Hope to go back soon.

We arrived in The Maldives after a week in Sri Lanka, another fantastic place.
Upon leaving the airport we were met by hotel staff to be told that the tour company had made an error with our booking. We had trated ourselves to a water villa, this had been confirmed by Tropical Places only a week before but it turned out they had never booked it and we would now not be entitled to one as there were none left.
This was not the start to a stay in the Maldives that we expected and neither of us were very happy. This was soon forgotten after we got to the island, WOW!!! It is every thing you expect from your paradise lsland and more. There are only sixty rooms and you really do feel that you have the place to yourself and the sand really is soft white powder.
The staff are also out of this world. Despite the tour company not having paid for our Water Villa the staff found us one after some other guests had left. Normally you you expect this, but as they had not be paid for it it, and as the tour company had never booked it it was something they did not have to do.
All our worries were forgotten because the place is out of this world, the staff will do almost anything for you and you are treated like royalty.
You will never regret going to this island, everything about it is first class - the staff, the accomadation (it is worth upgrading to a water villa), the food, the island and the diving.
I quick mention for Sri Lankan Airlines as well. We flew business class with them - you really do know that Emirates part owns them, a great experience.
