First holiday in Malta and loved the place-will definitely go back again but certainly not to the Bel Sol.
Very basic hotel although I suppose you get what you pay for and it was a last minute booking that we didn't pay mega bucks for thankfully.
Accomodation is basic/tatty but our room was not uncomfortable.
Food was a different story however - plenty of it but very bland and tasteless and not an awful lot of choice. We booked half board but after the first day we took all our meals out!!
Staff were for the most part friendly and helpful.
Didn't spoil our holiday though-we had a great time and Buggiba is quite a pleasant little resort

This was our first holiday together, so when we arrived at the bel sol we were slightly disappointed. The so called rep called out our names when we arrived and then left us on our own at 3am outside the hotel. Over the next two weeks we had a host of problems, the lift constantly smelt of urine and someone also decided to take a dump in it as well!

The roof top pool was so dirty you could not even see your knees while you were in it, which was strange considering the pool was only 4 feet deep! The down stairs pool was ok but it only got about one hour of sun per day. We found that the management didn't care if you had a problem, for example, one day the maid gave us our new towels and one of them looked as if someone had just wiped their backside on it! mmm...nice! When we approached the manager to ask for a new towel, he just laughed and said that there was nothing wrong with it, which resulted in a mass argument!

The food in the hotel was ok for me but my girlfriend is a vegetarian and her options were very limited indeed! They could certainly do with jamie oliver going in there to sort them out. It was a shame the hotel was so bad because Malta is a lovely place. There is a square just 2 mins down the road with restaurants, shops, bars etc. Two nice places to eat are the Mirabelle and Little Italy which are real tasty! There are two good pubs too, Fat Harry's and O'reilly's, we spent most of our nights in them! We went on a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon which is one of the most amazing places i have ever been.

On a whole i would go back to Malta again but definately not that hotel! There was one waiter there called Ray who was one of the most helpful people i've ever met, he would do anything he could to help you and make your stay a better one. The bel sol could do with more people like him.

This hotel was clean and good for the reasonable price. Food poor, but just about edible. One waiter Ray very friendly and polite and reception staff helpful. Was told that swimming pools were due to be refurbished. Room basic and outlook grim (my room was at back of hotel, but then room is only for sleeping etc. Bugibba very windy. Do go around the island on the buses, interesting and cheap. In Valletta dont miss St Paul's church, lots of steps in capital, not for those who find it hard to walk about. On Gozo, the cathedral is a rip off, charge to go in and nothing much to see, otherwise Gozo a nice island. Lots of construction work around Malta, will leave it for a while before returning.

This was my third holiday in Malta, I love the island, its a little different to the costa's and greece. Yes its a scruffy in areas, but full of history and lovely people, you either love or hate it.

This was my first time at the belsol hotel, the photograph on the net is very mis-leading!!. It was very basic but adequate. we only payed £259 each half board for a week, so for what we paid it was good value.
Our room was clean and of a good size, the basement resturant was abit dingy but the food was hot and fresh, not gourmet style but basic.

The staff were helpful and bar prices very reasonable.
Lets be honest it is only a 3 star basic hotel, you get what you pay for. My only worry was the cleanliness of the roof top pool and surrounding areas, they desparately needed refurbishing and cleaning. Its a shame because it could be really lovely up there. The hotel is in a good position, in a quiet area but within walking distance of St pauls, Qawra and Bugibba Square.

As for the resort, it has a variety of shops, bars and resturants, all very reasonable and a lovely atmosphere. I always felt safe unlike other holiday destinations

The Bel Sol Hotel is very basic and in need of much refurbishment. The reception area is clean and tidy and the receptionist was helpful and friendly as was the rest of the Hotel staff.

Our room was a bit of another story with only a ceiling fan to cool you down at night you needed to keep the balcony doors wide open, the rest of the room was clean but the furniture was all MFI, falling to pieces and bits missing.

The bar area was ok, needed more entertainment at night and some staff needed stress counselling

There are two pool areas in the Bel Sol, one on the ground floor that only gets about an hour of sun a day, and a roof top splash pool with bathing area which is quite grubby looking, and no bar so if you are at the roof pool you have to go down on the lift five floors to get some refreshments.

Buggiba is not up to much with shop, bars and a dodgem ride.

If you go to Malta ignore the package tours with your rep as they are a rip of,instead get yourself a good holiday guide book and bus map, jump on a bus and discover the island for yourself and be amazed at the things the island has to offer.
