We had booked this specifically so my son and I could go Scuba Diving for a week - received the brochure, checked web site . and it seemed that the two bed room apartment would be ideal.
Booked and arrived - first impressions were not good, the Hotel is pretty grubby form the front, in a small dirty and un welcoming 'back street'.

First the bad news, the apartment not ready as the previous occupants have not yet left .. this was 2.30 in afternoon and apartment was supposed to be ours from 1200 !
OK .. waited about 1Hr . then taken to apartment . and it was Terrible ! It was not in the hotel complex at all but several hundred yards away, in the middle of what can best be described as very down market local accommodation - which my wife likened to the Bronx !

The apartment was dirty, and I mean really dirty . paint peeling off walls and ceilings, mould all over bathroom.
It was a SelfCatering apartment . OK, so thought we would put cooker on and make a coffee .. bad news cooker does not work.
The place smelled, numerous non-working lights, the beds were very uncomfortable, and pillows and sheets down right grubby ..towels in the bathroom were a downright health hazard .. and full of holes !
View from the rear of apartment was an internal services void . which stank.
View from front was simply the grubby apartment opposite.

With the temp and humidty so high, the lack of air-con was a killer, especially as the brochure states all rooms have this, and it is always on our checklist when looking where to stay (when I queried this I was told the apartments did not come under the hotel, and thus descriptions did not apply - would have been nice to have been told this - and we would NOT have booked) We decided that after the1st night we could not stay there any more.

The Atlantis could not offer us a twin bedroom suite as they were booked, but they did arrange for a 3 bed room, not exactly ideal as we wanted the 'luxury' of separate bedrooms.
We had to pay a significant upgrade to get this single room .. So much so, that I wish we had booked elsewhere in the first place.

However on the positive side, the room was clean, large and had good air-con.

The Hotel complex itself is reasonably OK, and the pool is large, clean, and plenty of lounger, umbrellas etc. Lunch time snacks were reasonable . didn't try Hotel for food so don't know what it was like.
There was no entertainment that we were aware of, the nice BBQ by the pool we were informed had not been used for several years.

The pool area is quiet during the day .. at least until around 4.30 when the divers get back, and then it is . a tad crowded.

The Dive Centre aligned to the hotel is great - and all the staff there, the diving and organisation was perfect - can't recommend this enough - our Dive Master for the 10 dives was George - who was a diamond, would recommend him to anyone looking to dive.

The resort itself was a disappointment . it is really just one sea front road which you can walk in less than 15 mins . after 2 nights, it starts to get pretty boring .. sure glad we were only there a week.
If you do eat out . La Trattoria was superb, and another which seems very busy at all time El Cattille (sp) was pretty good, but we had to book a day in advance to get a table.
There is nothing at all in the way of shops .. so don't think you can browse the shops in evening, there are none.

My wife went into the capital for a visit and was also very disappointed with shopping there as well, although if you like cheap tat .. there are market stalls selling that, but it really is low grade tat.

In conclusion for the purpose we went there - the Scuba Diving the set up was superb, having got into the hotel proper - the accommodation was certainly satisfactory, the staff pleasant .. and if I want to scuba dive in Gozo again, I would stay there once more.

Just be warned and do not go for their apartments - unless you want seriously substandard accommodation, certainly below UK BandB standards

Gozo is a beautiful island with some of the best diving in the world, it is definitely worth the trip!

The hotel is lovely (ok its not bedecked in gold and marble) and the rooms are absolutely huge, over twice the size of some apartments I've stayed in and the bathrooms are clean. the only downsides to the room are it can be a bit dark inside the room but each room has a spacious balcony so it isn't a hardship and it is far easier to bath rather than shower.

The pool is big, at least 25m in an L shape the water is very salty as are all pools in Malta but the sunloungers are the nicest I've ever been on and there are plenty of big umbrellas around. they only thing that was odd ws that due to the large proportion of divers in the hotel the pool often became busy arounf five o clock- when normally most pools become quieter.

The hotel has its' own diving centre which is fantastic- the instructors all speak perfect English as well as a lot of other languages and arrange at least two dives a day for very reasonable prices. One of the best thnigs about the diving centre is they provide free storage so no lugging dive gear back and forth every day. it is a fully qualified PADI centre and so offers all sorts of courses. for those thinking of buying the prices are very reasonable!

the town is lovely with some great restaurants- Il Forno is the best! but it is not a aprty resort but since 80% of the tourists are up at 7.45am for diving it doesn't matter!

All in all a great place for diving, fantastic standard for a three star hotel with reasonable prices on everything. But be warned-there isn't much else to do fornon divers, you are probably better off on Malta!
