We stopped in Xlendi which is absolutley beautiful. There are many restaurants and bars coupled with the advantage of being a quiet and peaceful resort. We hired a car and found that was the best way to explore this very small island. It really is very easy to drive around and impossible to get lost. However, the buses are cheap and easy to negotiate.
Xlendi has wonderful rocks and little areas to swim and sunbathe and if you like snorkelling your in for a real treat. I would recomend Manuels restaurant, (Xlendi) wonderful service and gorgeous food. We found Gozo very reasonably priced and an extremeley friendly place. The locals are very kind and helpful. If you prefer beaches there is Ramala Bay which is the largest beach on Gozo but very busy. If you want a secluded and beautiful beach with the most amazing sea life i have ever seen then you must take a trip to San Blass bay. There is the steepest hill in the world to get back up but it is well worth it.
As for our apartment, well, it was appalling. I know that a previous report on here rated it highly but we must have had the worst one in the block. It was ill equipt for self catering, very very dirty and generally uncomfortable. The bathroom was disgusting and our only means of washing was a shower which was nothing more than a mere dribble.
It really was the downside of our honeymoon. I do realise that cockroaches are a regular visitor in Malta and Gozo but we were over run with them. We had to clean out the apartment when we arrived as there was eveidence of fras and egg casings throughout the kitchen area.
I would not recomend this accomodation. Despite this we would definitley return to Gozo.

Another wonderful holiday in Gozo! Would not normally go in July because of the heat, but even though it was scorching we coped! Hired a car to explore all the usual tourist places. The Azure Window is well worth a visit and swim in Dweja bay while you are there. We had a lovely day on Comino swimming in the Blue Lagoon before going for a walk round the island. You can reach Comino by travelling on either the ";Anselma"; or the Comino hotel boat. Both boats go from Mgarr.
Xlendi itself is quiet except at weekends when the Gozitans bring their families for a meal and a swim. Loads of wonderful restraunts, my favorite is Manuels which was next to our apartment, food to die for!
A new little bar is open on the bay front. Its called Dreamers Bar and if you go there say hello to Raymond the owner for us! He serves only snacks and drinks, but we used to go there quite often after our evening meal for a quiet drink.
We tried most of the restraunts in Xlendi and I can honestly say we never had a bad meal.It is nice to sit eating your dinner by the sea!
For the rest of our holiday we used the buses. They are most frequent in the summer season and are cheap. It is very time consuming if you are travelling to Malta though.
We went on a boat trip around Gozo and Comino, and although it wasn't something I fancied, we had a really wonderful time. There are two boat trips that are sold from Xlendi, one run by the Attard brothers (which we went on), and Teds boat ( which we may try next time). Not cheap, but well run and swimming in the Crystal Lagoon on a really hot day was such a treat.
Would we go again- well tomorrow if I was asked! Wonderful food, weather, sites and the Gozitan and Maltese people
