"very good hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We chose to return to Ta'Cenc after previous visits and were given a free room upgrade which was superb. At the time of our stay some refurbishment work was in progress. However the work was completely inobtrusive with almost no inconvenience, the workforce were very polite, start and finish times were acceptable and guests were accomodated in rooms furthest away from the work (our room was the closest). Staff at the hotel were marvellous, nothing was too much trouble. On the whole a perfect place for a totally relaxing holiday.

"Ta Cenc review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We booked this hotel based on the Thomson A La Carte brochure description of a luxury 5 star hotel with spa. The main reception areas appear very nice but the room allocated to us in the older part of the hotel would not score above a two to three star in any other part of Europe.
Views on offer included flat roofs covered in electrical cabling and mouldy water pipes, a building site storage area full of pipes and rubble with the same sort of area off to one side but with the addition of a mobile phone mast. The room itself looked as if it had last been refurbished in the sixties and the bathroom was in sad need of an update and extremely small. The floor tiles were stained and cracked although the whole area did look reasonably clean. However there was also paint and plaster peeling off the walls in some places and the room smelled slightly damp.
Very disappointing although Thomson pulled out all the stops and arranged an alternative near Valetta the same day.
Also be warned that many tour operators get you to the ferry and arrange a taxi on the other side to take you to the hotel but you have to carry your own luggage on and off the ferry and up two flights of stairs, so if you have any disability at all this should be checked with the tour operator.
"Ta Cenc review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We went to Ta Cenc, Gozo for our honeymoon. We chose Gozo because it looked beautiful and tranquil in the brochures. We chose Ta Cenc because it was 5 star with a spa.
The hotel is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and helpful but the location for us was not good at all. Other than the hotel there is only two restaurants nearby and no bars. We wanted quiet but not deralict. We was told that Gozo was quiet but were expecting there to be somewhere other than our hotel to go to in the evening. If you wanted a walk after your evening meal then you could if you fancied a dirt track with no lighting.
The rooms are the english equivalant to a 2 or 3 star. They are cleaned and the sheets changed daily. The hotel itself is very luxourious we felt the rooms let it down a bit. We booked bed and breakfast. Anything you could want for breakfast was on offer.
If you leave the hotel in the evening and go somewhere else on the island for a meal then bear in mind that there are not any taxis after 7pm. We learnt the hard way. If you want a holiday where you sit by the pool all day and stay at the hotel all evening or like alot of walking then this is definatley the place for you.
Not sure we will return.
