the hotel is excellent, very modern, clean and well run. rooms are spacious and well furnished. Food is also excellent with a very varied choice at every meattime, breakfast and evening meal.
The three pools are great each has its own bar/snacks with plenty of sunbeds available at any time of the day.
the drinks at the the bars are a little expensive but the facilities are very good. Evening entertainment was a little lacking in quality.but that was the only fault i could say about the hotel.
WOULD DEFINATELY RECCOMMEND THE HOTEL.

As for malta and the resort you will have to go and make up youre own mind. personnally we did not think much of either.

Just returned from two weeks holidays in Meliha village/Meliha bay. Our hotel 'Maritime Antonine' was just as advertised, four star deserved in our opinion. Absolutely lovely decor throughout and very helpful/friendly staff. We were on Bed and Breakfast but would easily have gone half board(given that option) as the food was so good! The only downfall for us about this hotel was the size of the swimming pools(three in total), one on the rooftop, one in the gardens and one inside along with spa facilities. All three pools were on the small side so if you like to have a good swim, not really possible.

Anyway apart from this we really loved the location of this hotel, right in the heart of the village(restaurants and other hotels to hand as well as a few bars!)
ten to fifteen minutes downhill and you find yourself in Meliha Bay(lovely beach considered to be one of the best in Malta) as well as more restaurants and hotels. also here there are lots of boat trips on offer(definately go with 'The English Rose' on whichever trip takes your fancy do not go through the 'reps', will save you lots of money and you will definately be well looked after by Alexander and Stephen !) Would recommend visiting 'The blue Lagoon and Comino!Brilliant!!
Lots of places of interest to visit in Malta or if you just want to chill in the sun ,ideal place to be(especially at this hotel). According to the locals one of the best around that area!!

All in all a great choice for us(should add that Meliha is quieter(relaxing) and more unspoilt than other areas we visited ,probably not suited for the younger generation(no clubbing!) or less able (quite hilly). Also the locals are dead friendly!!

I have literally got back from this hotel a few days ago and thought i would share my views. I read this page just before i was about to leave and wasn't really sure on what to expect. Lt me tell you...the hotel is magnificent. It must have been modernised in the last year as its all marble and the bedrooms are very modern and contemporary with flat screen tv on the wall with sat tv and a min frige in the room. the hotel is on either side of the road and we to get to our room from the reception area we had to go to level -1 and use the tunnel to get to our room onthe 2nd floor on the ppisite side. its a gorgeous tunnel made of marble and all lit up.

The food was lovely.up to 6 course! always a fish, chicken and red meat dish..i owuld often have all three!

the sandy beach is a about 15 mins walk but i would ge the complimentary bus service run by the hotel at 930am as its quite a steep hill down.it returns at 4pm.

the village that the hotel is in is typical maltese village, its not built up with alot of touristy brit stuff and i quite liked the fact that it was more maltese. there wasnt much to do at night but that didnt bother us as we arent up for clubbing...we generally stayed inthe cocktail bar which i must say is very sophisticated.
If you are going to malta and dont have kids i would fully reccommend this hote. I think kids would get bored here as there are no kids clubs etc..def worth its 4 star rating

Good news - the La Salita has shut and they are busy ripping the place to bits to improve it.

We ended up in the the Maritim and liked the hotel generally. The staff were fine, and the island has plenty to see - easier if you have a car.

The food proved to be a major talking point being very repetitive, frequenty cold with too much salt. Don't expect fresh fruit and ";garden fresh vegetables"; means straight from Mr Birdseye. Sweets were excellent and my daughter and I ate about 5 each every night - I put on weight despite using the gym (good) every day and she didn't - not fair is it?

The entertainment was ok but limited and the Christmas and new year banquets (for which there was an extra charge) were a real non-event with identical food but crackers and a free coffee and wine-type drink!

Advice - stay for 1 week only, take your multi-region DVD player and hire DVDs up the hill and buy some drinks on the way back, hire a car and watch out for the pot-holes!

Good value really compared to other places at this time of year and all went smoothly.

Excellant hotel and facilities, recomend room 445 for a fantastic view.
food good, plenty of choice, room very clean.
Town fairly quite, few bars etc
Need to get a bus to the beach as its down a very step hill, but well worth it.
Would love to go...
