We read the reviews on this hotel a week before we left, most of them were true. There are many complaints about this hotel, the rooms were never cleaned properly, the bathroom was never cleaned the whole 2 weeks we stayed. The pool was cleaned once on our second day, the scum around the edges with peoples names written in was still there when we left. The lifts broke down on average 2 - 3 times every day. Our sheets were only changed twice in two weeks. We were not the only one's complaining, I only hope others write reviews as well. Mid week into our holiday the hotel was invaded buy Dutch teenagers 60 - 70 and the place turned into a YMCA for the next ten days. there is nothing for kids to do, no entertainment during the day and at night it's alright if your over 70 and deaf. The breakfast is average with plenty of choice, didn't try any other meals. This hotel is supposed to be a 4*, no chance it's 2* on a very good day.

Im only 11 years old and me and my friend were questioned by the police for no reason saying we through a glass at a worker's car window which we never but if it wernt a worker the hotel would not of bovered. The food was reapeted every night and morning. There was 2 nice staff, the upstairs barman Tony and a nice young red haired girl. I shared a room with 2 other people and i had pullout bed and it was very uncomfertable and it was broken and my back was always hurting in the morning. It was very clean and the maids were nice except they would come early so when your in the shower or still asleep. Its a nice location and I know the area verygood. So thats it, thanks for reading.
I visited Gozo and Comino Island. I visited The marine water park and saw the sea lion and the dolphin show and swam in the pool there which did you know is the biggest swimming pool in Europe.

my husband and i both in our sixties, found this hotel too quiet even for us. it seemed to cater primarily for long stay guests.the entertainment is very seventies, a lady on synthasiser and her husband shaking maraccas and singing girl from ipinema.we were all inclusive and found ourselves going out every night as the hotel was dreary in the extreme.
the food was really bad. no choice, no fresh fruit, poorly cooked and presented.staff in the dining room were surly and unhelpful. guests were obliged to hover at the door until a waiter allocated a table and woe-betide any one who dared to seat themselves. all very school dining room.the small swimming pool was in the shade most of the day and the indoor pool was dingy and unattractive.good points the promanade walk to buggiba is very pleasant and the hotel is situated close to the bus terminus.the transport is cheap and reliable and i woul recommend it.
i could not recommend the canifor hotel and i think a holiday there for a family with young children or teenagers would be very disappointing

We have just returned from a two week holiday in Qawra. On first sights, the hotel room looked OK, but on closer inspection our worst fears were confirmed! The bathroom was grubby, when we lifted the White toilet seat, it looked like it had never been cleaned! We had to ask for the shower curtain to be changed as it was very ";crackly"; and brown. Not nice. The light in the bathroom usually took at least half an hour to come on in the morning, hence sometimes showering in the dark. The central heating/air con had no thermostat knob and the casing was held together with tape, so we had no heating or air con, which was not helpful as it was very cold! The towels WERE changed every day. The hotel dining room was very cramped and as it was buffet service, it was hard to move around.
The food (here goes)! The breakfast was the same every day, which was rubbery boiled eggs, manky fried bread, watery beans and the highlight, a mini chipolata sausage. Yoghurts had to be paid for, even though we stayed half board, and there was no fresh fruit in sight. Evening meal was also nearly the same every night, but whatever it was (sometimes we couldn't tell), it wasn't nice. The puddings were the fake cream style gateaux, but not much sponge in them. Small pots of jelly with MORE of the compulsory fake cream or frezzing apple pie with no custard or cream. Yummy (not). Again no fresh fruit, although it was on the menu. The indoor pool tiles, around the surface of the water, were very brown and dirty. We are including this on the list of possibilities of where my husband picked up his terrible stomach bug, which has still not cleared up 2 weeks later. For the size of the hotel, there were only 2 pool tables, unfortunately they were so close together it was almost impossible to use both at the same time. There were about 10 ";end of pier"; type games. In the outdoor pool area, the sunbed matresses were very stained and dirty. I wouldn't use them in a dogs bed. On the positive side, most of the staff were very nice, although probably overworked.
I wouldn't recommed Qawra/Bugibba as a base for your holiday. Sliema would be a better choice as there is more to do and you do avoid long journeys to and from Valetta. Anybody who likes history, museums and visiting churches would probably enjoy the holiday there more than a family with children. The harbour cruise from Sliema is worth every penny and you can also get a ferry from Sliema to Valetta, which is much nicer than a bus. We do recommend hiring a car for a couple of days, as you get away from the tourist areas and see and see the ";real"; Malta.
