like a lot of people we booked first then found this site.there were some shockers,so we feared the worst.however dont panic, the hotel is old and in need of refurbishment,but we found it clean and the staff helpful.put it in perspective we got half board for a week for less than the cost of a scheduled flight.

we knew for that price the food would be basic so we ate out every night as a 3 course meal only costs around £6

malta is great for history it was run by the british for nearly 200 years so they still drive on the left, have square plugs the same as ours,red phone and letter boxes.the locals are all very friendly and all speak english.

the buses are old,very old leyland/bedfords,to most places only costs about 35p.we hired a car for 3 days and went to the more remote parts saving valletta andsliema for the bus.took the car on the ferry to gozo(about £12 return) worth the trip.contrary to what alot of people say malta does have some sandy beaches the best one at mellieha bay and golden bay.the craft village at ta quali is worth a visit for buying gifts it was an old raf base and they still use the old nissen huts!the blue grotto is a great trip around and inside several caves.the grand herbour cruise around valletta is very good it starts from sliema,costs about £6.50.lots more than this as well.so dont just stay round the hotel all day go for it we will go back again .
