This was the second time we had stayed in the Park Lane and on both occasions found all the staff and the owners could'nt do enough for you. The popularity of the apartments is shown by the number of returning guests year upon year. The deals on B&B or HB that are on offer are unbeatable as a previous review mentions. We are looking forward to our next stay in December.

After reading the first review, I seriously wonder whether they stayed in the same apartment!!??? The second block in which they refer, is a very large three bedroom apartment, which my family and I stay in every summer. The bathroom is always clean and pleasant, the small bedroom has got a sliding door, but this was made clear and shown to us before booking, and as a family it doesnt bother us. As for the block being 'down the road', I hardly feel that a 3 second detour counts as 'down the road', if anything the other block is quite and more private, minamizing disturbances from any other guests. I have always found the Park Lane to be clean, comfortable, friendly and spacious. The staff cannot do more for you. Unlike most hotels in the area they make you feel like a person not simply a room number, and go out of their way to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I will be returning their for the 7th year running next week and cannot wait!!

We have just returned from the Park Lane and have wonderful time. We booked a studio apartment direct with the hotel (www.parklanemalta.com)after friends recommended them to us. We were obviously apprehensive after reading the other review but were very pleasantly surprised. We booked transfers through the hotel and the driver was waiting at the airport for us. Others must have been equally pleased judging by the number of thankyou cards on the reception.
We were shown to our room which was clean and well equipt, melon and water had been left in the fridge for us. It had a ceiling fan but you could have air con for 5LM per night. We didn't need it, there were no mozzies so we left the windows open at night. We booked half board for 5LM per night and when we asked what time breakfast was we were told 'any time we want', it was all pretty laid back. Smallts is the restaurant next door where you eat and we had a full english breakfast most mornings and fillet steak with various sauces most nights. You can choose almost anything from the menu and as the steak is around 7LM alone, the half board was well worth it. I think in high season the service might be a bit slow, but ours was fine, we were so relaxed i don't think we would have cared if we had to wait. Wine is from under 3LM per bottle to 4.50LM.
Qwara beach is shingly and rocky so take plastic shoes, sun beds and parasols are LM 1.50 per day which is the cheapest we've ever had. The water is clean and clear.
The staff at the Park Lane are so friendly, when we left even the cleaner wished us a pleasant journey and hoped we were coming back, which we definitely will.

What a rip-off. Having viewed these apartments 18months before we were only shown the hotel side. Booking independently this time we were alloted self catering in a supposedly 3 bedroom apartment. The block was out of the complex down the road, the lift was rickety, and the push timed light switch only came on for a minute, there was no bannister raillngs to stop you falling down the stairs. The apartment was shabby, with no locks on the bathroom doors. The toilets hadn't seen a clean for goodness knows how long. The bedrooms looked inwards onto the next block of apartments just about 10 ft away from you. The kitchen facilities weren't great and to cap it all the 3rd bedroom had a sliding door to it and no wardrobe. The mattressess were filthy.
Having complained bitterly and had a 25% deposit taken up front the owner agreed to move the 2 of us to a 'superior' studio in the hotel section on the top floor. This was not much better and having booked separate rooms we did not wish to share for 2 weeks. The following morning we cut our losses and ended up in a mini suite at the Mercure Coralia 4* half board for a fraction of the price. The rooms were excellent, we had a jacuzzi on the balcony which was huge and we couldn't fault either the hotel or the staff.
Would not recommend the Park Lane Appartments.
