Do not exchange your points for this resort, it should never be in the RCI Directory of Resorts, it really is that bad. We were not told of the building work that was taking place to the outdoor swimming pool, nor were the ";owners";. There was no natural light in the lounge, no window at all in the 2nd bedroom, completely black, the ";balcony"; was the size of a ";window box"; (remember this was for 4 adults). The staff were downright rude, the bar was hardly ever open and the laundry was a disgrace. If you are a RCI member forget this hotel, you will be very disappointed.
On the good side, we did find 2 very good rerstaurants for evening meals. Firstly the WE5. The food is excellent and not very expensive. Second, the Ta' Pawla(also known as The Taste of Malta), where you can get good food and service during the day as well.

We found Malta to be rather shabby and rundown. We visited varies places on the island but we found nothing of interest. It's been said that you either love it or hate it, as far as my wife's concerned is the latter.

We will not ever be returning to this resort.

We arrived at Sunny Coast to find we had a tiny 2 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor. The balcony was so small we couldn't all be outside at once (we were 3 people in an appartment supposedly for 4), and had a view of the wall opposite.

We were also directly above the restaurant of the building next door, so had greasy frying smells lingering most of the time. The living area was far too small for even 3 people, let alone 4, with only enough sofa space for 2 comfortably, tiny 14"; TV, no work surface space to put things down on, and most importantly, NO NATURAL LIGHT - so even when it was sunny outside we had to have the lights on as very little daylight got in. This was no way it was a 4 star apartment - I would describe it as 2 star.

The hotel restaurant (";Village Square";) was abysmal, serving tasteless food that was obviously reheated, rather than cooked fresh, although on the plus side it did make us venture out to try other restaurants! And there are some nice restaurants nearby. Most of the people we met were very friendly and helpful, esp the local Maltese.

On the plus side, there was plenty of hot water, and the shower was pretty good. There are lots of things to do and see on Malta, we visited Valletta, Mosta, Mdina and Gozo, and there are a lot of historical sites on the island.

We are used to staying in RCI gold crown resorts (or similar), which are usually of very high standard. In comparison, Sunny Coast Resort Club was awful. We will not be returning.

The Sunny Coast Hotel Complex is, in itself, not a bad place to stay but the location is a little on the poor side with not a great deal to do on that side of Qawra.
We needed to walk into Bugibba to see most of the action (find a few shops, places to eat etc)as Qawra itself is abit of a letdown.

We found the prices were about the same as back in the UK, no bargains to be had at all. With regards to some of the comments about the Maltese' unfriendliness - well, we found most to be ok and some were very pleasant, especially our taxi driver who took us back to the airport at 4 in the morning!!!

To sum up, a pleasant enough holiday, not really enough to do for children. Accomodation wasnt bad at all, no complaints there although the hotel does like slightly dowdy from the outside. The indoor pool was a lot smaller too than it looked inthe brochure!!!

Sliema and St Juliens Bay were good for a walk round, nice sea fronts - Valletta was charming but crumbly, loads of history though. I couldnt quite make up my mind about it but I'm glad I WENT(if that makes sense?)
At least the weather was good which was ahuge bonus. I dont think I would have liked it half as much if the climate had been cooler! I think next year we may try Menorca again.Theres so much more for the kids!

After reading the comments about the Sunny Coast we did not know what we were in for,

We have been past it many times and as the tour operators said there was no other resorts available we chanced it, The apartment was ok for a place to stay and large enough with a view across the bay, The kitchen was too small and not viable for more than a couple of people. more like a caravan kitchen than a hotel apartment. It ws clean and we found only minor faults of the bathroom needs updating and a new bath . (Rusty and damage to coating)

The air con was working ok but a little noisey, and a Tv that must have dropped of a lorry passing in the street from amount of damage.

The local area was quiet and ideal for those not wanting lots to do after dark. Can say the local food places were fine and the people were as nice as usual. We ate in a place called chaplains next door to the resort . it had limited menue but all the food was good. the owners where very pleasent the wife tried a local offering of rabbit and was awed by its taste. across the road there was a restuarant called Heaven, can say if your not a big eater than dont ask for the Mixed grill it could have fed two. and generally the meals there were large.

overall not a bad holiday and if your regular traveller you would know not to expect beaches of sand unless you go to the nothern areas. and to lay on concrete and rock at least there is no sand in all crevases. The resorts facilities were ample for all ranges of age and is due for major renevation and extention,

Sunny coast is a very run down resort, the leisure club sun beds were really rough, and the maltese children in the pool very rude to the guests.

The apartment we had was a tip and oh so basic, we had no Tea towels for 3 days and then they were not changed for another 7 days despite complaining. the welcome meeting was a joke , no info just rabitted on about the flexi club and the points system, and the rep nearly had a fir when I asked for a glass of water instead of the orange juice on offer at the meeting. There was not a lot to do on the resort, no beach even though one was advertised, and parking was awful too many cars and not enough space. The only bonus was the weather 42 degrees, hot and lovely and the hire car so plenty of sightseeing, and the maltese people coul'nt have been friendlier.

Valletta was worth a visit ,especially on sundays when the market was on, Gozo is a lovely place for a day trip.
The Maltese churches are fantastic well worth a visit, but remember to cover up.
The maltese firework displays leave a lot to be desired!

PLenty of good restaurants but don't do maltese pizza, not as good as british pizza!
The traditional dish which is rabbit is good and served in a variety of ways.
Golden bay is worth the visit, the beach is clean and the snack bar well stocked and the sea lovely and warm .
All in all apart from the fact that the resort was a basic one star if that we had a good holiday.

I willl visit Malta again but I will make sure that I get a gold Crown Timeshare resort that is NOWHERE near SUNNY BAY
