hotel does not disappoint, spotless clean with very friendly helpful staff.Have a room with a sea view and see Valletta but when booking ask for a high floor as the noise from the traffic can keeep you awake especially the car stereo systems booming out at all hours of the night,it took us a couple of nights to get used to it as we were on the first floor The pool on the roof is a lot bigger than we expected it to be with plenty of sunloungers at any time of the day,the pool bar food is excellent and very reasonably priced as is the mini bar in your room. The views from the roof are pretty awesome and from the restaurants as well. The hotel has a BBQ every Friday,we tried it but would not reccommend it,save your euros and give it a miss.

OverallVery Good Resort

Stay in Sliema, but thats all,as resorts go I would not really class it as one,it is just a shopping town with very few restaurants, mainly cafe bars. The town itself is like walking in an English high street, you name the shop and it is here .There is no beach...

We have just returned from a holiday in this hotel, my husband, myself and my elderly father who needs a wheelchair. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful, they were so obliging and friendly. We hired a car and the car park was below the hotel but with only two doors through to reception (on the same floor) which was excellent with a wheelchair. The rooms at the front of the hotel overlooked the bay which is superb but may experience some small amount of traffic noise as the hotel is on a main road, but we were at the back overlooking a courtyard and there was no noise whatsoever. The dining room was on the first floor, easily accessed from the lifts. We had a twin bedded room which was quite large and my father had a room for disabled which was very large with a walk in shower room. The rooms were very clean and cleaned daily with fresh towels. The dining room had excellent views over the bay but the choice of food did let it down slightly. The choice was limited and seemed repetitive. It certainly did not detract from our holiday but we did only go for one week whereas someone staying for two weeks or more may find this bland. The hotel is well located on Sliema sea front and is within walking distance of the main shopping centre. There is a long promenade opposite the hotel which was a pleasant walk in the evening. The entertainment is virtually non existent. There was a man playing the piano and singing on one evening. However, we enjoyed the peace of the holiday. Malta has a unique bus service of vintage buses and if you are able bodied the buses stop right outside the hotel so a car isn't necessary. All in all a really good holiday and we would definitely go to this hotel again.

OverallGood Resort

A very nice resort but more of a town than a holiday resort. Good for ferries and trips from the waterfront.

The Waterfront Hotel is in an excellent location, and the views from the rooms on the upper floors across to Valetta are spectacular. Hotel staff were very helpful, the room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided regularly. We only ate in the pizzeria so can't comment on the main restaraunt, however the breakfasts were plentiful and tasty. We ate at several locals restaurants and would thoroughly recommend Ta' Kris in Fawwara Lane Sliema, Il-Merill St. Vincent St, Sliema and the Can Thai restaurant in the Fortina Spa hotel. We also had the unfortunate experience of my husband being admitted to hospital and, although St Lukes hospital is not the most pleasnt building, the level of medical care and help we received from the Doctors, nurses, hospital cleaners, taxi drivers, right through to the Waterfront hotel staff was second to none. For friendly people, interesting history and good restaurants I can thoroughly recemmond Malta and Sliema.

The hotel has gone downhill since we last visited in 2004.
The aircon broke down in our room and it took 3days and several acrimonious talks to get it working again. The drains started to smell bad in the bathroom and all that was done was to pour some ";bleach"; down, leaving an overpowering and potentially dangerous vapour of chlorine.
The food is now ";on-the-cheap"; with bacon (ALWAYS undercooked) being served only on alternate days for breakfast with burnt sausage on the other day!!
Buffet dinner is varied but the meats being usually overcooked,dried-up under the lamp and of poor qaulity, thus meaning usually to tough to eat.The vegetables being far too ";al-dente"; meaning a little more than warm raw.Even potatoes were inadequately cooked!!

No more comment necessary other than to state we will never stay at this hotel again

Spent a week b/b at the Waterfront Hotel, position and location good.We had a side sea view room spacious and clean with cable tv,good choice of food at breakfast and if you want buffet dinner for 2 it will cost you 11.50-maltese lira ";£18";, no need to prebook just turn up at the restaurant. Accross the road is the promanade with benches to sit and enjoy the views of Valetta, buses stop outside the hotel and cost about 20 cents each.Sliema has a good variety of shops including MandS,B.H.S,Dorothy Perkins, and Next.Restaurants are plentful but shop around some are quite expensive .

We went on a couple of trips visiting Mdina, the air raid shelters, craft village at Ta'Qali (well worth a visit) and aircraft museum.Try booking with local tour operators they are far cheaper than Thomson and give the same value for money. The weather in February was sunny and warm but windy and chilly at night .

We enjoyed our week in Malta but found the cost of living a little expensive compared to the u.k.
