This was our tenth visit to Malta, our first to Radisson's. Malta is a place that you either love or dont like at all. OK there are a lot of rundown areas, there is a lot of rubbish dumped everywhere, and the countryside is anything but lush and green, BUT, you would have to go a long way to meet such pro-British, friendly people as the Maltese, every time we visit the island we are struck by their welcoming attitude, nothing is too much trouble, and they are really proud of their island and it's heritage despite it's imperfections.
Radissons is a lovely hotel. Don't be put off by other reviewers, No, there isn't entertainment in the hotel, but if that's so important to you, you'd be better to go to Butlins where it's all laid on. The rooms are well furnished, lovely extra touches like white terry bathrobes, chocolates on your pillow, and I appreciated the call from reception two days after our arrival to check if we were enjoying our stay and was there anything else they could do for us? If you don't want to go out of the hotel at night, at least the TV shows BBC programmes! my daughter was amazed to get Eastenders and top of the pops a day after being shown on UK TV, there is a lot to choose from if thats what you like to do with your evenings.
The pool is lovely, plenty of sunbeds with soft cushions, the poolboys are eager to help you find a parasol and will always come and move it for you when the sun moves!Food in the main dining room is excellent, lots of choice and varied menus. The breakfasts cannot be faulted in my opinion, you name it and it's there and lots of it! I really have only one grumble and that is the cost of drinks at the hotel bars indoor or poolside, I paid approx £6.00 for a shandy and small bottle of mineral water, excessive I think, but probably the norm in a 5* hotel.
In conclusion, we would definitely return to the Radisson, in fact have tried to book for October, but they are booked solid when we want to go. Give it a try,Malta is Delightful, and you may get hooked on it like us!!

We have just returned from our second visit to Malta and can't wait to go back!,
the people are lovely, the island is beautiful and there is plenty to see and do. Our last visit was to Bugibba which we found to be a bit too quiet and entertainment was mainly geared towards older people. Having read some of the reviews of the Radisson on this page, I was a bit apprehensive about staying there but had absolutely no reason to be. The hotel is lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. We booked a few excursions through the concierge which we thoroughly enjoyed and were great value - much better than the excursions offered by First Choice, most of which we had already taken on our last visit. The hotel is up a hill about 10 minutes walk from St Julian's and as it is in a quiet area, you get the best of both worlds.
There is plenty of nightlife in St Julians - I would recommend the Havana club which has different floors catering for all musical tastes. The best restaurants are in St Julian's bay on the waterfront. We tried La Dolce Vita, and Bouzaki which were lovely. We also ate at Barracuda which is a bit further round the bay and had been highly recommended but to be perfectly honest, the food did not live up to it's reputation and was distinctly average. The best meal we had was at La Ghonella which was located in Spinola Palace it specialises in Maltese cuisine and was absolutely gorgeous. The locally produced Laurenti Chardonnay is also lovely and has a distinct taste of vanilla. A word of warning - it is best to book the most popular restaurants at the weekend as they get very busy. All in all we had a lovely time.
Our only complaints were that the weather was quite poor at the beginning of the week which we were assured was very unusual for the end of April and the reception staff insisted on displaying our messages through the tv in German!

The rooms were very modern and had everything you posibly needed, the white bath robes were a great added touch and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. We particularly liked the fact you had the option of 24 hour room service as we'd had a very early flight and it was so relaxing to spend our first night in Malta having dinner on our balcony with amazing food, a nice glass of local rose wine and the mediterranean sea as a back drop.
The staff could not do enough for you and it was lovely to always be greeted with a smile or a 'good morning'. There is a choice of 4 swimming pools and there was always plenty of sun loungers free which meant you could enjoy a nice lie in of a morning. The hotel also provided towels every day which was a nice touch. As it was the last week of October, we were wary about the weather but were pleasantly surprised as we had bright sunshine everyday with temps around 24,25c. It was just the right temperature in our opnion as you could lie out all day.
The hotel is in a secluded area which for us was great as we wanted a relaxing holiday away, but if you were hoping for wild nights out this probably wouldn't be the hotel for you, however, saying that, we did have many enjoyable nights in the bridge bar working our way through the cocktail menus.
The one thing we were not told which you should be aware of is the restaurants in St Georges Bay. We went out on our second night, expecting to be able to walk into the restaurants and be seated but unfortunately, especially on a friday or saturday night, you have to book. We managed to get seated in Peppinos. Madonna, Brad Pitt and Jon Bon Jovi are just some of the famous guests Peppinos has welcomed. I would definately recommend this restaurant, the food was amazing (especially the giant prawns in garlic and white wine sauce), and the staff were fantastic. We booked again for the Monday night and were promised the best table in the restaurant. Words cannot really describe what we got that Monday. The restaurant is on 3 storys, our table was on the 3rd level, right at the front, over looking the whole bay. It was a truly magical evening and even our pictures cannot do it justice. It is definately an experience I recommend.
All in all, we both agree this was the most amazing holiday we have ever had and also the most romantic. We have both stayed in lovely places before but there is something about Malta and the Radisson hotel that is truly magical. We would definately recommend it and cannot wait for our next stay in the Radisson hotel.

Room was average for 3 star. Service was slow and staff attitude very bad. They were much more interested in Conferences and meetings rather than the hotel guests. Guests were talked into seeing their new time share hotel

Good choice of hotel. 5 star without being pretentious. BandB is good option as you can then eat in one of the hotel restaurants in the evening or go out. We walked to restaurants nearby or took a taxi to Sliema. Hotel is in a good position for getting around and far enough away from Paceville not to be bothered by noise etc. Bus stop nearby. We were pleased with our choice.
