"Wonderful Holiday"

Submitted in September 2008 by: Lois Luckett

Operator: Thomas Cook

A fantastic holiday so long as you want to do more than sit on a sandy beach all day. Malta is a wonderful place for sghtseeing and we enjoyed visiting, Gozo, Valletta, Mdina and the Blue Lagoon.

OverallExcellent Hotel

We had a great time at this hotel and felt the few negatives we read about before we went were fairly irrelevant to the enjoyment of the holiday, e.g. the lifts which were a bit quirky, but gave you a focus to chat about with fellow guests. As others have s...

PORTOMASO HARBOUR: The restaurants were very expensive and apart from Le Corragio, weren't worth the money. SNOOPY'S: This was the best find of the holiday for food. To find it you need to walk out of St Julians along the Harbour and just as you pass the sign into Sleima, it is on your right. It looks very dark and dingy, but don't let that put you off, they do the best Duck Salad i have ever tasted and were very reasonable. It's a lovely walk as well. RAPHAELS: Lovely location, but the food was overcooked and reminiscent of School dinners. NOVE:They do a lovely Pina Colada VALLETTA:Catch the Ferry from Sleima (95c each) it runs every half hour. We took a Horse and Carriage ride around Valetta, which was lovely, they stop and let you get off to look at the Gardens and give you a bit of History on the way. Do haggle with the price though. We got an hours tour for 40 Euro's. If you want to see the Island, take a Hop on Hop off, bus 15 Euro's and you can hop on and off all day. Very bumpy though. The roads in Malta are not great. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would go back, because the Maltese people are just so lovely and it is a very pretty island. The nightlife is a bit quiet, but it's what you make it.

OverallExcellent Hotel

My sister and i have just come back from a week at the Hilton, St Julians. For 2 woman alone, Malta is the perfect place to go. We were never hassled once and felt very safe. THE HILTON: A beautiful hotel with more pools than you could ever need, set in a ...

St Julians was good for us to stay. Public transport was easy to use and frequent. We didn't want a beach holiday, so not having a beach didn't matter. We didin't use the nightlife, but there did seem to be plenty going on. Plenty of good places to eat and had beautiful pizzs and pasta in one of the pubs, but unfortunaately can't remember the name of it. Food in Rokna restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Some areas seemed a bit run down, but this only added to the range of things that we saw and laughed at on the holiday.

OverallVery Good Hotel

My friend and I wanted single rooms, and reviews of single rooms in other hotels had worried us. From the time I telephoned to ask about rooms,( normal double with single occupancy and a good price), made the booking, arrived at 3.30a.m. with arranged taxi ...

Malta is a loverly island and there is a lot to see and do. The people are very friendly with the one exception and can all speak English. They also drive on the left which is a big plus. We will go back to Malta, especially to see the Hypergeum whch was fully booked for two months in advance when we were there and find somewhere to stay other than Bay Street.

This is not a hotel in the true sense of the word merely rooms above a shopping complex - think Wood Green Shopping City or any you care to name. And if I can deter one other peron from going there, this will have been worthwhile. The Reception is on the 2n...

"very close to everything"

Submitted in June 2008 by: Mark, Nicole and George

The resort is walking distant away, with the nightlife very close. If you decide to do an island trip, busses are not far away, I couldn't comment on the beaches as we didn't use them the time a year we were staying at the hotel.

I know it is probably a bit late, but better late then never. We spend Xmas in the Hotel Westin Dragonara with my family. What a fantastic hotel, it felt like the Ritz abroad. The rooms were very spacious, with 2 kingsize beds, sky tv. very clean, the loc...
