Our first impressions when we arrived at this complex were pretty bad to be honest. The apartment wasn't ready when we arrived and it was very small even though we had booked a 1 bedroom apartment for only 2 of us & it was extremely dated.

However as the holiday progressed the fact that the location was so good and the reception staff were so nice and helpful when you asked anything it kind of softened the blow of the quality of the accomodation

To summarise the main good factors were: *excellent location for accesability to both the Marina Area(beautiful & reasonable restaurants)& also to Paceville if you are wanting to do some serious partying. *excellent location for catching public transport. The bus stop was at the bottom of the street and from here with the help of a bus timetable you can travel to the majority of the different tourist attractions, beaches & resorts at an extremely low cost. *Extremely helpful reception staff. The gentleman spent lots of time with us advising us of the best things to see and do from his local knowledge. *A lot cheaper than a lot of other accomodations we had considered in St Julians

And the worst: *Extremely dated apartments *Ants in the extremely small bathroom *No airconditioning and ceiling fan broken in the main living area (Receptionist did give us a large fan FOC) *Cooker/Grill in Kitchen area broken *Unfriendly/offputting cafe/pool area staff *Additional charge for using the sunloungers & cushions at the pool *Had to take your own rubbish to the skip each day *As part of the complex had recently been sold to someone else a lot of construction work & noise going on *If you don't like noise these apartment are definately not for you.

All in all we still enjoyed our holiday and Malta is a very Beautiful Island. St Julians as a resort is excellent as it has a good selection of restaurants with reasonable prices and if you chose to go clubbing there is a good range of lively bars and clubs. The public transport may be older style but it's extremely reliable and soo cheap. Malta tends to have more european tourists especially Italian due to the location but that certain didn't put me off.

we got to our room (what a disapointment no balcony no scenery, did not unpack, next morning asked if got a room with balcony ,told to check next morning ,did so and given key to new room (perfect). the reception people were all so freindly and happy ,the coffee shop people need to take a lesson from them ,what a miserable bunch (could appear to be rude at times )the food was not to standard ,(looked as miserable as the staff) breakfast at HUGGIES is recommending, as is a meal in the IRISH PUB, bar meals downstairs and up market food upstairs from 7 .

our most dissapointment was the beach as such, the whole place is covered in broken bottles and condoms .if old cars addicts will see plenty of old british ones some 40 years old ,would stay in dean hamlet again in years to come if st julians was drasticaly cleaned up .

certainly not 5 star, but for a single male in his 50's,it was close to bus routes and shopping, plus a 5min walk from all the different night clubs, bars and restaurants.there is a bar(Tropical Bar)run by a Maltese lady,Jo and her english partner, who were very useful on tips for money changing, local butchers etc and bus numbers to get around the island.Mention Tony from London and you may get a discount, its on Tric Paceville, just down from Avenues Restaurant, another good eating place.

This was our first trip to Malta and we'll certainly be going back. Likely not be staying in the apartments we stayed in this time. Gave a rating of 'Good' though this was stretching it a little.

We found it necessary to ask for a move of room on our very first night. Found the apartments to be dated and a little neglected. Room service few and far between. Two pools in the complex-rather small though. Sunbeds need to be hired and there doesn't seem to be enough umbrellas to go round. Reception staff very friendly and helpful however, and if your willing to compromise a little then this accommodation was fine. Very good location near the bay of St. Julians itself which has a variety of excellent restaurants and a few bars. You could stretch the legs for a walk to Sliema which again has a variety of places to go. Walking up the hill from the apartments led you to the livelier area of Paceville.

I have read that people found this area rowdy and intimidating due to the number of youngsters there, though we certainly did not-and felt no problem going there as a family. An excellent value for money restaurant there is The Avenue. Despite its many bars and clubs we never had any trouble with late night revellers. Its just a busy and popular area thats all. Go on the local buses- they're very cheap and most of the areas of interest are not long journeys away. People are very friendly and helpful-most speaking very good english. We will definately go back to Malta in the futute and hope to squeeze in more sightseeing and visits we missed out on this visit. If our future holiday is as good as this one then we will be happy.

Oh ... what can I say ... but it was only fantastic. Had been checking sites and was very unsure about whether Malta was the best decision ... but it turned out to be the best holiday I have ever had. Where to start? Firstly the Holiday Complex. Dean Hamlet is two star accomadation which deserves another star. It wasn't the most luxurious but it was clean, comfortable and spacious. No horror stories .... tip though would be to bring your own radio as there was none in the appartment. The swimming pools were small but perfect and with it being just start of the season there was always somewhere around the pool for a spot of sunbathing....

As for St. Julians ...and Malta in general .... Well I couldn't have asked for more. St. Julians was a tourist area ... but with such a Maltese feel .... nothing too hectic .... some beautiful views down along the bays. Not a place really to visit but the perfect place to be staying. Down the road was Paceville ..... a hive of activity in the weekends .... more quiet during the week..... but still a fun spot without being like Teneriffe. Very cheap meals to be found here .... and cheap drinks also ... not a place for larger louts ..... don't think anyplace in Malta is!

Only one disappointment for the week ... that is CAPTAIN MORGAN CRUSIES .... do not take one ..... we took one arond malta ..... and it was a horror ...... half the boat was sick for the first three hours ...... Old people who were travelling on their own were getting sick into bags .... as was I...... staff very unfriendly .... and so far from the coast line that no one could see anything .... please I can't express how awful it was.

And the utter surprise of the week was the island of Comino .... and the blue Lagoon ..... utterly sublime ... a must see!

Beutiful people (in every way), beautiful places ... a must do! Thank you Malta....
