We booked the deal about a month before we went off a website that gave us flights and accommodation for just under £200-not bad!Our flight landed about 11 at night and it was quick, easy and cheap to get a taxi to the resort. To collect your key you have to go to the hotel La Vallete across the road and ask at their reception. Also there are two entrances to the apartments, dependng on which room you are in!Don't worry if you are confused, there will be one of two really lovely security guards at the Language School entrance between 7pm-2am.
The Apartment-we had a studio so it was one big room with three single beds and a kitchenette. There's an overhead ceilnig fan and even in early september we didn't overheat! Bathroom was fine, on the whole the apartment was basic but ok. However one major problem was that our oven did not work (when we turned it on it caused a power cut in the room) and when we reported this because it was a saints day the owner, whose number we got from the nice security guard, couldn't fix it for a couple of days; so we were left for 3 nights in total with no oven which was very irritating. Also on our first morning we saw a huge cockroach which crawled down the plughole. They are all over the place in Malta so just keep the plugs in place as much as possible and you should be fine :)
Oh and I should also mention you are above and surrounded by nightclubs, it didnt disturb us that much but I do remember drifting off to sleep one night to the sounds of very bad kareoke! The maids were nice enough and were really kind about giving us new bedding and towels. Strangely enough they wont go into an empty room as far as we could work out, neither would the repairman who came to fix the cooker which is why it took a day longer apparently!
The Resort-Paceville is the centre of nightlife on the island and its pretty lively with some good bars and clubs. It has started to wind down by september because the locals only went out at weekends. With the locals they are really friendly and if you do encounter sleazy types they tend to be Arabic and not Maltese, who are really great. Aside from nightlife we took a boat trip around the island which was really good, it gave us a couple of hours at the Blue Lagoon to swim which was lovely, everyone was a bit sea sick on the boat though! One day we caught the bus into Valleta and had a wander around, its really pretty. Another thing we'd recommend is to walk from Paceville towards St Julians bay and keep going round, theres some great views and really pretty buildings. A really good bar in Paceville is Seven Rooms which does amazing cocktails and you can sit under individual cabanas!
Beaches- the beaches are not great in Malta. We went to St Georges Bay which had horrid sand that punctured lilos and was really uncomfortable, my advice would be to hire a sunbed. One day we went to Golden Bay which was much better but unfortunately it rained when we went. On our last day we went to a swimming pool on the shore at St Julians bay, you have to pay but it made a nice change. You are allowed to use the pool at the St Georges Park hotel but we never even made it there! We went diving one day with Cresta diving school, they're in St Georges Bay and are English, we'd really recommend trying them.
Food-Do not go to the supermarket in La Vallete because it is very expensive. Go to the Dolphin supermarket (Paceville is very small so you'll find it) which has a better selection and is much cheaper! We ate out a couple of times in St Julians bay, all the restaurants surround the bay so it looks really pretty. San Rafael was a really good italian and Paprazzi was also really good. Oh and on the other side of the bay to these restaurants is the best ice cream shop in the world with tables and chairs shaped like ice cream, you cant miss it!
Isn't really much else to say, I've been to Malta twice now and I'd recommend it to anyone, although it isn't the most hardcore of clubbing places! The apartments were cheap enough but I think if I was staying in Paceville again I'd stay at La Vallete because the rooms were much nicer. Don't be worried if you're staying here it's basic but you'll be using your room to sleep and shower so it doesn't matter. Have a great time!!

I was looking for a budget holiday and that was exactly what I got.
The room was very basic which was fine, although the maids laid back attitude meant one set of clean sheets in two weeks and no surfaces were ever cleaned. By the end of the fortnight there was an invasion of ants that had set up camp on the sticky surfaces in our room and the soles of our feet were black where the floor wasn't cleaned.
St Julians itself is standard fare for young holiday makers. Europop clubs, bars and restaurants that offer the same menu everywhere you go seem par for the course. It is not a place for young families or the elderly but if a group of you are looking for booze, birds and burgers then it hits the spot.
