We found staying in this newly refurbished 15th century house, having a great kitchen to cook our own meals much more personal than staying in a hotel. This was our second visit to Malta and would recommend it highly. The owner's father Victor came to pick us up at the airport and saw us off again at the end of our stay. A friend of ours recommended it to us and directed us to the website (www vallettahouse com)
We found the neighbours extremely friendly and helpful, sometimes almost embarrassingly so. The small shops in the area were a breath of fresh air compared to our UK supermarkets. The grocer would even reserve the milk for us. It was a great base from which to experience the city of the Knights. The Casa Rocca, a beautiful museum house, was right up the street as was St Elmo and the Malta Experience multimedia show. It would have been great if Valletta streets were kept a bit tidier - it seems the Maltese aren't so keen on tidyness!
The attention to detail in the Valletta House is fascinating, the kitchen in the cellar atmospheric while the luxurious bedroom we found stimulating. The selection of books related to the island and the cable TV/DVD were helpful when I had to stay in with flu.
