Bad Points:
Nowhere to walk to outside of the resort and quite a distance from other towns.
Tired villas, in need of refurbishment, due to happen soon. Didn't spoil our holiday.

We travelled to Le Coco Beach for the Easter holidays, and it was great that they celebrated Easter with lots of activities, games and chocolate eggs for the children (and adults)

The teen club was fantastic for meeting others the same age, and organising trips and activities. Just what teenagers need to keep them occupied.
The people were so friendly and helpful and would do anything for you. Plenty of sunbeds, weather was great. Plenty of watersports, no need to get bored.

(Avoid booking flights with Air Mauritius, the staff did not reflect the Mauritians, as they were not so happy to help or as friendly.)

We went to Mauritus for our honeymoon in September 2006. We booked through Tristar Travel who gave us 100% personal service. We stayed all inclusive at the Le Coco Beach on the north-east coast of the island and enjoyed it so much that we thought we would like to sample the West coast of the island before returning to the UK so transferred to it's sister hotel the La Pirogue for the latter part of our holiday. (see La Pirogue)
Le Coco Beach

We were told that the Hotel was due to be refurbished but apparently management have been saying this for the last few years. The standard room we were first allocated was in dire need of refurbishment and we immediately upgraded to a superior villa which was large, comfortable and just as importantly, the room service was second to none.
The food was served buffet style; guests were spoiled for choice, individual chefs prepared their own speciality and staff gave a first class service. In addition there were two further restaurants which included Le Boathouse Bar and Grill - al la carte.

Sporting activities were of equal standing to higher starred hotels with all the usual sports included.
The downside for us was that in the evening there wasn't much to do and unfortunately smoking was allowed in the area reserved for evening entertainment, which was not a large area. For non smokers it was unpleasant and it spoilt our enjoyment. A number of British guests were of the same opinion. Fortunately, smoking was not allowed in any of the restaurants.

The beach was fantastic and the weather was everything we expected.

If Le Coco Beach was refurbished we would have no hesitation in returning.

We were on our honeymoon and had a superior villa which was large and comfortable, half a minutes walk from the beech with a large balcony. We were above two smaller rooms and didn't hear any noise - its was very relaxing. We didn't really get pampered, there was no 'special' treats for being on a honeymoon, which was a bit disappointing.

We were half board, which was a mistake. Breakfast and the evening meal was included, but lunch and drinks weren't. They were incredibly expensive and they had the monopoly because there was literally no where else to go! Pool was £5 a go!

The food was excellent, really excellent. There was a different spread every night and it was top quality.

The entertainment was ok, it got a bit repetitive though.

We didn't go to the pool, but the beech was really beautiful, the weather was out of this world and the sea, well there isn't anything quite like it. Lots of coral, fantastic snorkelling and loads of water sports and fish!! We did get really burnt on our first few days, not realising how hot the sun actually was, so its something to be aware of!

We hired a car for two days and toured the whole island which is easily done. Mountains are nice in the middle, but the island is all a bit samey.

On the whole, it was a beautiful honeymoon, we are pleased we went, but we wouldn't go again. Been there and done it. And, one last thing, we flew out on a cyclone - it was certainly an experience!

We picked this hotel as they had both Teen and Kids clubs. The teen club was a real godsend for us. Our son tried just about every watersport imaginable anf had plenty of friends to hang with every evening. I think the kids club is probably okay but ur son didn't want to go after the first day as all the children were french speakers.

Accommodation- We stayed in a junior suite which was very nice (like a little thatched cottage)and even better we managed to get interconnecting rooms. The rooms were a good size complete with tea and coffee facilities and mini bar(free for those on all inclusive package, great for the kids)all stocked with coke beer etc plus a couple of choccies for the midnight munchies!! No wine unfortunately but this can be brought with you fom any bar in the hotel. Every room has a terrace or balcony. The downside, yes there had to be some, the bathrooms need updating(I have heard the whole place is due for refurb later this year) and we ha ants in the bathroom and bedroom!! We notified reception and a chap came and put something down but the ants must have liked it!

Food- I came back thinking if I ever see another buffet meal it will be far too soon! The first few days it was okay but The boys and I just couldn't get excited after that. The pool bar does the usual burgers, pizzas etc for a change until 5pm. They have the boathouse restaurant(a la carte which you get a very small allowance towards) but we found the menu to be very limiting so much so we only went once in 3 weeks!!
I think the worse thing was that there was no where to go off site. The hotel grounds are beautiful but we got a bit stir crazy at night as there is nothing within walking or short taxi drive distance. We even asked a taxi driver but he said there was nothing!!
With regard to evening entertainment we felt this was of a good quality but just wanted something different now and again.

I would highly recommend the catamaran cruise(quite an early start for the west coast)it was great and we even saw the dolphins as promised!

I would say that July is not a great time to go as the weather is not as warm as you'd expect and we had quite a bit of rain (it is their winter!)
On the whole it was a nice holiday but I wouldn't go again, maybe a case of been there done that! People are very friendly and can't do enough for you.
