Cancum is a great resort and the locals are really nice. The hotels are quite far from the main nightspot but the bus is great.

playacar is ideally situated with shops close enough to all the hotels but if you want more playa del carmen is only a 50 pesos taxi journey away or a 20 - 30 minute walk away and is a straight road.

As an all inclusive resort Cancun has lots of hotels and not all that many bars & restaurants, saying that we ate out twice at a mexican restaurant and had a few drinks in bars in the centre. Several bars have a cover charge system so you can't really go in for just one drink then move on, however there are also plenty that don't, like Hard Rock Cafe, Hooters, Bubba Gumps etc.

We went to Coco Bongos and would definately recommend it to anyone, we tipped our server once and were constantly being brought drinks all night, the show itself is out of this world and well worth the £50. Other things we did whilst there were the boat safari, pirate ships, jetski's, dolphins (at Isla Mujeres) and swimming with a shark - all highly recommended.

Shopping is also good value in Cancun, in particular the Diesel shop. around half the price of the UK. There are two fairly large shopping malls in Cancun, both have several cash machines so it was very easy to withdraw money.

NOT THE PLACE TO BE AT NIGHT WITH A YOUNG FAMILY.TOO MANY DRUG DEALERS.We went to hard rock cafe ok but not as good as the one we went to in egypt.they only wanted to feed you and get you out.

playa del carmen is worth a visit - learn to ignore the street traders! Shops full of tat and not that cheap - you're better off getting jewellery from Argos!

Xel-ha was a great day out. Take the collectiva buses instead of taxis because you'll save a fortune

Our hotel resort was really good, so other than a trip to Chitchenitza and whale sharks we didnt go out of the hotel.

Cancun has something for everyone, there are so many places to see and so many activities to do. We swam with the dolphins while we were there and that was an amazing experience. Everywhere is so clean and tidy and the people are so friendly. The beaches are to die for , crystal clear sea and golden white sands. I was amazed at how good the night life was, we had some fantastic nights out while we were there and there are so many lovely places to eat.Cancun can only be described as paradise! I cannot wait to go back!

As a couple in our late twenties, Cancun was perfect for us, in fact we are already saving up to go again next year. The bars and clubs that we went to were lots of fun and reasonably good value for money, especially as you could haggle over entry and get free drinks offers. We went on excursions to Chichen Itza, swimming with dolphins, and on a speedboat tour, all of which we really enjoyed and felt were good value for money. There seemed to be lots of other places we could have visited but ran out of time, there was so much to do. We didn't see any of the public beaches, only the one attached to our hotel, but the sand was beautifully white! The weather was really good too, a friend had stayed in another part of Mexico and said it was humid and full of mosquitos there, but we didn't find that at all in Cancun, it was hot but not uncomfortable. Also, all of the Mexican people we met were really friendly and welcoming, which we really liked. I'd recommend taking lots of $1 notes as everyone really deserves a tip, although they aren't too pushy about it. Also, you have to pay a departure tax of around $60 each at the airport, in cash, which some of the tour operators only put in the small print! All, in all I would highly recommend Mexico, and especially Cancun, to anyone!

Busy, Livley and fun, great night life and fun filled bars. Loads of places to eat and drink and the shopping centres are very tempting

This was my first trip to Playa and my girlfriend's first trip to the Caribbean. I had read some previous reviews and I was not disappointed. I called in the morning and was snorkeling at Yal-Ku by lunch time. Our guide, Camilla, was both professional and knowledgeable. After Yal-Ku, she took us to Akumal Beach and we snorkeled with the sea turtles.

I highly recommand Mexico Blue Dream and if Camilla is available, then be sure to ask for her. You will not be disappointed with your choice.

My husband and I visited Hacienda Sotuta de Peon during july 2009 and were provided with a private tour. We found our day there to be wonderful, exciting, extremely informative, and how wonderful to be able to share in the history of both this beautiful hacienda, and the Yucatan itself. I was allowed to help create a rope from the sisal and managed to mess that process up quite well, but the very experienced workers corrected my mess beautifully within seconds, and presented to us a large portion of the rope to bring home with us. We recommend this tour and can tell everyone they won't be disappointed.

Plenty of nightlife within walking distance of Riu Palace. Easy to get around the hotel zone on the bus 7.5 pesos one way (about 40p), very frequent service.

Loved Puerta vallarta, everyone very friendly, loads of things to do from sailing to going in to the Sierra Madres mountains and zip lining. If you want to do tours etc, book online before you go and book with Vallarta Adventure, brilliant company.

Very nice resort with good beaches, but beware if you go to 5th Avenue as you will get lots of hassle.
