Very nice resort with good beaches, but beware if you go to 5th Avenue as you will get lots of hassle.

The name Cancun means "golden snakes," but you won't find any venom in this sun-kissed Yucatan paradise. The most popular destination in Mexico, Cancun beckons with stunning aqua-blue waters and white-sand beaches. While Cancun's reputation is for spring-break fun, wholesome activities for the family can be found: Ride horses on the coast, snorkel and canoe in a reserve, swim with the dolphins. If all this leaves you sun-blind, plenty of bars and fine restaurants tempt at the end of the day.

excellent resort, plenty to do for everyone. Don't miss Coco Bongos. Jungle trip and swimming with dolphins great. Lots of shopping malls but prices inflated compared with the USA, not many bargains. Very busy central nightlife area with Hooters, Cocobongos etc, all have flat rate pay in and then open bar which works well. Hint tip a waiter in coco Bongos and he will bring you drinks all night and you will not miss any of the show!

We didnt really see much of the resort as we were 20 km outside Cancun.

However, when we did go into Cancun for excursions, the beaches looked great, there were loads of shops, and the restaurants and bars looked great.

Cancun is a lovely resort the people are so friendly and there is alot to do and see so your never bored.

Our hotel is about twenty mins from downtown cancun, so if you like to go out walking to the shops of a evening then this might not be the place for you. The hotel does provide free shuttle bus during the day but not in the evening, and apparently the cabs are very expensive. there is a couple of shops on site that sell all that you could want including presents and we found it very cheap, in fact the prices were alot cheaper than at the airport, including drinks.

Cancun is a lively area with plenty of shops bars a nd nightclubs.If ur looking to see authentic mexico then this isnt the place for u as its built for tourists and everthing is loud and large!The beaches are beautiful though and the weather was perfect!

cancun is a lively place day and night if you cant find something to do your not trying the busses are excelent they run about every 1-2 minutes and the drivers all think they are in a race so hang on but so cheap only 7.5 pesos to go anywhere

Not a high opinion of the local town. We tried to change money and the lady said we give her less than what we counted twice so dont take your eyes off the money exchange. Then she tried to give us less for the exchange by about £80 so work out what it should be before you give any money. We ate out but dont think we chose a very good restaurant the waiter picked up the spare plates off the table which for some reason had water on and it spilt all over my satin dress The food also took an hour and a half to come out. And we had to pay a service charge for this!!! We went to the club Coco Bongos which cost around £75 for two of us this uncluded drinks. The drink hardly had any alcohol in at all and had no chance of feeling the slightest bit tipsy and i dont drink!!! So have a few drinks before you go in.

We went all inclusive so din't venture out of the resort loads but what we did see was amazing. There are shopping malls nearby, and easy access to anywhere on the island by bus. Definately recomment Xel-Ha and Dolphin Discovery, we did a jungle tour too which was basically speedboating, great fun! Tip requests were excessive, but the buses are cheap enough. All in all, plenty for anyone to do.

busy and a bit of a dump

Make sure you take a cab to the Tulum ruins, as it only costs about $4 US and is worth seeing. We loved being in the middle of a real town with local restaurants and shops (very geared towards tourists). The beach is a 5 to 10 minute cab drive away (at very small cost). The resort overall is very quant and charming a real little treasure.

An excellent resort, hotels dotted about and a lovely marina complex with little shops, bars and restaurants. You can also watch the dolphins, manatees, see lions etc here. A lovely walk around the marina. A quiet peaceful resort.

Hardly saw it as we were all inclusive.

Not very Mexican as it is a purpose built resort.

Resort very good, lots going on. But would suit adults as they are very strict on the age of people going into pubs and clubs. Coco-Bongos is a must but again over 18's only and if you get the option of buying the $40 dollar ticket or $50 dollar ticket go for the $50 dollar as get best view and standing room, once paid your ticket all drink is free inside so worth the money.
