We stayed in this hotel for a week from the 3rd of december and all i can say is that it was absolutely fantastic!! I travel regularly and take at least six holidays a year and always staying in top hotels and i have to say that this was my favourite hotel in a long time! we flew with first choice in the premier seats that they do and everything from check in all the way through to arriving at cancun airport was perfect and in my opinion the only way to travel, i prefer these seats and the service provided to many other airlines that i have travelled with.

The food at the hotel was excellent. Buffet breakfast and lunch was great with an excellent choice to pick from, it took us all week to work out that the only thing missing from breakfast was porridge! there really was that much choice! the japanese restaurant was fabulous with them show cooking your meal infront of you, the italian was superb as was the steak house! the mexican was a little disappointing but was still good. we didnt get a chance to eat in the tropical restaurant as we went to stay at the iberostar cozumel for 2 nights in the middle of our stay due to the hotel being overbooked. we didnt have to go and could have stayed at our own hotel if we wanted to but we have always wanted to stay at the iberostar cozumel but could either never get availability or couldnt stay for two weeks as the flights are fortnightly from the uk. this hotel was also excellent but not quite as good as the iberostar tucan but was clean and of a high standard and if you were staying there for your whole holiday it would be fine but coming from the tucan it seemed like a small step down as the tucan really is so good! all in all the hotel tucan is faultless with excellent food, bars, rooms and entertainment with really helpful staff and really really clean.

we have only been back two days but have already booked to go back next year, a first for me as i dont do the same hoiday twice!

Upgraded to Premiair Gold and it was worth every penny - service, food and drink was 1st class
The hotel itself from getting off the transfer bus was excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean and bright. The food in all restaurants was superb with a vast selection. Drinks both local and international were on tap 24 hours a day. The gardens with it's wildlife was wonderful as was the clean, white, sandy beach. All the staff worked long hours but were very helpful and courteous, eager to please. The nightly entertainment was quite amateurish.
The trips booked with My Travel were fantastic.
It was the best holiday we've ever had and enjoyed it so much we've already booked up for the same time next year to do the trips we didn't manage this year.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a little of Paradise.

What a superb holiday we had a great room overlooking the pool just 25mtrs from the sea. The food in the buffet resteraunt was realy good we did not rate the alacarte resteraunts apart from the italian that was good the food at lunch and the beach burger bar was superb.the staff were realy nice and the entertainmemt staff star friends realy worked hard all day every day and night and they were realy friendly

we were surprised that the hotel was built around the mangrove forest we did not imagine it to be like that it certanly was different to anything we have ever seen with a family of 6 monkeys living in the forest along with ducks chickens swans 2 turtles several iguanas and some other small animals they were great
we did think the pool was a bit to deep at 1.5 metrs but there was a shallower part and the sea was abit to rough for smaller children the beach was lovely
we will be going back

We returned to this hotel after a 2 year gap, and found that it has changed - not entirely for the better. Instead of exceeding our espectations, it just about met them.

Pluses - coffee maker in room, beach and pool as fab as ever, dive centre one of the best in the world, italian speciality restaurant had fab food and service.

Minuses - 2 faults in the room reported on day 2 not fixed by the time we left 12 days later, main restaurant seriously understaffed so service slow (previously this was not the case with staff everywhere), steak house and mexican speciality restaurants food very poor, reception staff disinterested, 2 wake up calls which had not been requested at 7am, room service at 11.30pm which we had not ordered, maid waking us up at 8am to clean the room.
The hotel is still good, but is is not excellent as we had hoped which was disappointing as we have been to the hotel 3 times before. We won't be going back as the standards have slipped too far.

One final tip, don't go to this hotel or region over spring break or 4th July. The hotel was full of drunken, loud and irritating americans who the staff did not like. This affected service to everyone speaking English.

Just had a fantastic holiday at the Tucan. The layout of the hotel is really good because although you are in a large hotel it still seems small. The food was very good and the 5 extra restaurants were also good.

The staff were lovely and really friendly. If you try some Spanish they really appreciate it.

Lots of wildlife at the hotel so be prepared to have close encounters with monkeys, iguanas, peacocks, aguitis, flamingos and lots of butterflies.

The pool is really nice. Again it is large, but has an irregular shape so you dont notice the size. Lots of sunbeds by pool and on the beach.

There is also a doctor on call 24hrs a day if needed - but this does cost extra so dont just visit for something trivial.

Very similar to the Dominican Republic.

No negatives at all.

Go along and have fun!
