Arrived at the iberostar Tucan after a 10 hour flight and we were imediatley impressed with this hotel as it was our honeymoon we were hoping it would be just how it looked in the brochure but it was better than we could of imagined.

There were arrival drinks in reception then we were taken to our rooms on a golf buggy. All the staff are so friendly and helpfull they really made a impression with my 5 year old son they were always talking to him and making a fuss.
The food was fantastic there was always plenty to choose from i would recomend the japanese restaurant, the chef cooks your food in front of you it is defenitaly worth trying.Rooms were spacious and clean, fridge stocked every two days.

The childrens club was brilliant they really do work very hard they put on evening performances for the adults to watch, the children are well looked after.A visit to playa del carmen is worthwhile however we did prefere to do this in the evening as the bars and restaurant are very different. We watched a live fire show here down on the beach front which was really good. We would love to come back to this hotel maybe in a couple of years but we will book our own trips ourselves as we thought they were a little bit more expensive booking through the rep,

this has defenitly been the best holiday we have been on cant wait to go back

Well, what can I say... Paradise!

Everything about our holiday was brilliant. The hotel was absolutely first class and Mexico itself is amazing.

The hotel was extremely clean, our room was very spacious and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. The maids were very good and came in daily leaving an array of towel sculptures, ie mermaids, dinosaurs etc.

The pool area was lovely and we never had to worry about getting a sunbed as there was a strict - no reserving - policy. We don't normally like the beach but the beach here was pure white sand and the sea was crystal clear. We spent most days on the beach and you can easily borrow a parasol for some shade midday.

The food was tasty and extremely varied. You could even eat fajitas for breakfast if you wanted to. We visited three a la carte restaurants during our week, the mexican, italian and steakhouse. All were really nice but we made sure we booked on our first day as they doo get quite full.

The bars were nice and supplied a small variety of local alcohol. We were a little disappointed as they don't serve the local corona but we made do. The cocktails are beautiful and you must try the 'dirty monkey' if you are a chocolate lover!! There was a limited evening entertainment but mostly for kids but the nightclub on sight is a real good laugh! its called Mascara and they played an excellent range of music!!

Thomas cook were good and we booked a couple of trips. The first one was to a natural lagoon called Xel-Ha. It was the most amazing day out. It was beautiful and the snorkelling was amazing.

We also bought tickets for a club in Cancun called Coco bongos. Cancun is about an hours taxi costing 50 dollars each way but it was worth it. The night out was brilliant and the club was all inclusive. They had a live show going on throughout the night consisting of acrabats, pop star tributes and even spider man came flying through the air attached to a bungee rope.

Overall the holiday was an amazing experience and I would go again tommorrow. But I would go for two weeks, its a long flight and takes a couple of days to adjust to the jet Lag. but if you are deliberating, just go! Its Fantastic!

just got back from tucan/quetzal this is a beautiful place with amazing service and everything is good quality. We have 2 boys and we did find that as this place is so HUGE (this is because it is 2 hotels in 1)that it was very difficult for them to make friends.

There wasnt really anywhere which was a gathering place i.e games room for children of say 9+ I have to say that this did spoil our holiday and it was hugely frustrating to see lots of bored children stuck by their parents in the evenings because they hadnt had the opportunity to make friends. Also there isnt really a 'teenagers club' as quoted in eclipse brochure.

The disco though is AMAZING for say age 16+ and for the young children a great kids club was going on all day. I dont mean to sound negative when this is such a beautiful well run place but I do think that it is misleading to sell it as 1 hotel as this is not true and so you end up in a place twice the size you expect. I think it badly lacks a games room and if you havnt booked yet maybe you may want to rethink if you have children like mine who love to meet and make friends. mine did make a couple in the end but this was through me seeking out similar aged children and introducing them to mine.

We did have a great holiday though but we were very concerned at first when my children said ";but how we going to make friends, theres no where for us to meet up?

Having recently returned from a wonderful holiday at the Tucan, all the staff were wonderfull they couldn't do enough for you and seemed genuinly to want to make your stay as good as possible.

I found this site realy good and looked forward to seeing the towel fgures which we were not dissapointed with.
My only initial issue was with the mosquitos,we went out and bought loads of mosquito repelent with deet in,but forgot to take it big mistake. I think they look for and home into fresh flesh, I itched everywhere they even get you through clothes,as soon as we were able to get some repelent I covered myself in it including my clothes, I smelt great but didn't care, after a while the hotel went round with a smoke machine and they seemed to dissappear, it is the rainy season so I suppose they have a right to be there.

I don't normally do beaches but this one was like a picture postcard white sand like dust crystal blue sea like a warm bath, it did rain but we all just stayed in the sea on the lilo's it was like a shower in a warm bath so refreshing.
Never been all inclusive before so found it hard to accept staff running round and catering for our every need, so much choice in fact we only used 2 of the speciality restaurants as the choice and food in main restaurent was so good and the staff great my daugter loved trying out her little spanish they were so encouraging and loved the fact you tried.
In our last few days there we hit hurrican emily, the hotel staff were so well organised and professional there was no panic, some of the american's were drama queens, the hotel put us all in the conference room full of food and drink, which they had been setting up for 2 days while we were enjoying our hol, we were keept informed about all aspects of the hurrican, all staff guests and animals were fine it was such a shame for the staff as there was lots of tree damage and the theatre had lost it's roof they were so upset, but their main concern was feeding the guests after their 18 hours in the centre, and getting things back to as normal as poss.

We loved walking through the forest every day seeing what animals we would find flamingo's monkeys iguana's peacock's guinea pig type things to mention just a few.

It was like being in paradise and we felt after making friends with lots of other guests that first choice certainly looked after their guests better than most they say the hol companies are only as good as the problems you give them.
We will certainly return to the same hotel, we have so much more of Mexico to see and all the people are wonderfull can't wait would go back tomorrow.

Oh just a point the first choice plane had so much leg room and we were just standard passangers I couldn't beleive it every one commented, made all the diff to the flight, we didn't find the airport too bad maybe we were prepared by the reviews, thanks to all past reviews they were so accurate.

We arrived in playacar late on monday 30th may for a two week stay,on arrival we were greeted with a cocktail at reception and a speedy check-in then led to our room which was on the 3rd floor,no lifts but then we didnt have to carry our cases !first impressions:room was large and spacious with 2 double beds, mini bar, ceiling fan and fantastic air conditioningwhich turned out to be a godsend.

only downside we had no view from balcony but decided we could live with that there were people much worse off than us.Breakfast served in main buffet restraunt and poolside( no shoes or tops required in this one) spoilt for choice with menu bacon is fantastic.Lunch and evening meals good in buffet restraunt but cant beat the a la carte restraunts reservations required but guaranteed at least 2 visits per week, japenese is a fantastic experience with show cooking, knife throwing by chef and also italian and steakhouse very good.

shows are brilliant but by 2nd week a bit repetetive not much to do outside complex without taking a taxi to puerto del a carmen which costs 45 pesos, plenty to see and do there. We would definately recommend the jungle speed boat tour which leaves cancun and takes you through the mangroves and then out to a living coral reef for snorkelling, all equipment provided fantastic!but nothing can compare to the dolphin discovery at puert-aventures do the royal swim if you get chance well worth the extra money and then of course theres the dvd,t.shirt, towel etc, etc.

All in all a great experience and a great holiday must just mention the staff they cant do enough for you and mexicans generally are so welcoming and helpful so a couple of dollars tip here and there is most appreciated but not expected, only negative point and there has to be one is the airport at cancun we had to queue for two hours to check in as all luggage is hand searched and there was no air conditining but would definately return to the iberostar tucan but only when airport has improved ! could have a long wait.
