This by far is the best holiday/hotel we've ever been to, location as amazing best beach i've ever seen, the set up of the hotel is wonderful, food and service is fantastic, evening entertainment is very good but if you want more night life its only a 20 min walk or cheap taxi ride to town where there are lots of bars and restaurants and its very safe at night everyones very friendly, once you ve been once you ll want to go back every year.
A great hotel in a great setting. When you arrive at reception you are greeted with cocktails, a smile and a sppedy check in. Your bags are taken to your rooms by the porters. Our first sight in our room was a monkey on the balcony rail! Fantastic!!

Food - very good, ate mainly in the buffet which does get hot as there is no air con, however it is sufferable. Also used the A La Carte restaurants, adults enjoyed it, however kids preferred the buffett, there was more choice for them.
Drinks from all the bars were good, if you want the best International brands, just ask for them or you get the local stuff - if you get a regular barman, tip him and see how fast you get a drink. Ours were on the bar ready before we got there!!
Rooms are OK not fabulous but comfortable, the fridge was stocked daily although we only used water and soft drinks. Cleaning was OK. We did get the fancy towel treatment etc....
The staff are all friendly - can't do enough to help - did not have one bad staff experience.
My 15 year old did get a bad ear infection - in the middle of the night! - I spoke to reception and they had a doctor on site within 30 minutes (who was excellent) and gave all the required treatments - for a price of course, however thats what you pay insurance for. Excellent service.
From the two week holiday we thought long and hard and came up with only two 'compliants' - the swimming pool water was too warm and the disco too loud!! Must be getting old!!
A fantastic holiday - would definately go back - if you go there I defy you not to like it.
This hotel has received such rave reviews that we were worried that it might not live up to its reputation and that we might be disappointed - but not to worry as this was, by far, the best holiday of our lives.

The accommodation is great, the beach awesome, the food excellent and the staff superb.
We ate in three of the four A la Carte restaurants - steak, Mexican and Italian, the only one we didn't try was Caribbean. Food was excellent and the atmosphere in the Mexican fantastic.
Trips to Xcaret and Cosumel were booked through the hotel and we saved some cash.
We even played golf on the local course and were held up on the first tee when a ant eater crossed our path! Golf is expensive at £100 plus and the course is not worth it but there was an offer of a second round for just £8 so £108 for two rounds isn't bad if the offer is still on.
Definitely recommend it - we'll be back for 25th wedding anniversary in two years, this time without the family!
Flew from Gatwick on our honeymoon. Will not be in a rush to travel from there again! I have flown from a few airports, normally Manchester. Gatwick was slow and the staff were unhelpful. Flight was on time though which looking at other reviews is good!...

A long back breaking flight with MyTravel, entertainment was ok but repeated itself.
Arrival at the airport was awful, long queues to check documentation but the holiday is worth the wait!
Playacar is not all that far from the airport about 45 minutes. It is a small ";village"; that you turn into that is protected by an entry system, it is very safe to go out and about not like some other long haul destinations.
The hotel is fabulous, immaculately cleaned and fantastic wildlife all around. Check in is fast and the luggage is delivered to your room promptly. The rooms are large and the air con is brilliant. The beds are hard but I had great fortnights sleep! All of the balconys overlook fantastic wildlife areas.
The food is lovely, all freshly prepared and plenty of choice. Ate at the italian restaurant (very nice) and the steak house (ok). Plenty of food options throughout the day.
Pool area was lovely but sunbeds were all reserved around the pool by 8am. Beach was just as nice though and always plenty of beds. It is VERY hot so take good suncream with you at all times.
Night entertainment was not so great, Butlins eat your heart out but all of the kids seem to enjoy it! There are a couple of lobby bars that are nice for a quiet drink.
All in all a fantastic trip, book tours with companies in PlayadelCarmen centre though, half of the price and well organised! Swimming with the dolphins was a great experience. Haggle the prices of goods even in the shops as they are over priced on purpose! Take plenty of small change for tips, the money that the staff are on is very little and they are always grateful of a small subsidy although they dont expect one.
Be prepared for Airport hell: Part 2 on the return, all luggage is checked by hand and you queue for ages to check in.
Definately the holiday of a lifetime, Airport hell is well worth it for the memories. We would go to another Iberostar tomorrow if we could afford it!!

The resort is lovely, very clean and very big.The beach is fabulous with golden sand and turquoise blue sea, there are lots of sun beds to go around and sun umberella's too as the weather is very very hot. There are lots of activities and water sports including catamarans and windsurfing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a jungle down the middle of the hotel which has lots of wildlife including spider monkeys and pink flamingo's and anteaters, but beware the peacocks make alot of noise thru the night...The rooms were very clean and we got clean towels everyday and the mini fridge was refilled everyday too. There are 2 buffet restaurants which had plenty of food and variety and 4 a la carte including italian, mexican, steak and caribbean which were exellent. All in all i would recommend this hotel although if you don't like Americans then Mexico is not for you cause there are lots of them and they are so loud...and the airport is the worst i have ever come across and i have travelled alot, the officals search your luggage as you get off the aeroplane and then when you go home so this does take time but it is only a small amount of time out of a great holiday!
