Me and my family have been to this hotel on three occasions and enjoyed it each and everytime we have been. We found all of the staff friendly and they answered any queries we had. The hotel grounds were wonderful and the sights around you made you feel relaxed everytime you walked passed. When we went there were Americans but we got on well with them and had no problems at all.

We did a few trips but didnt like Chichen Itza that much as it was too hot just to walk around. I would recommened this hotel to everyone.

well what can I say? I thought that this hotel was gorgeous.

we have both been to mexico before so knew that the standard of the hotels was good but we were extreamley pleased with the Tucan.

On arrival you are met and taken to your hotel room via a golf buggy which in itself is quite good fun.

we paid for a jnr suite-and although there is no diffrence in room decor it was worth paying the extra for the sea view as some of the other rooms have jungle view. The rooms are very nice and although yes the bed is a bit hard it still made no diffrence to a good nights sleep. There is a coffe maker in your room and hair dryer and all the info you need on the resort, although there is no clock so I do recommend taking your own travel clock.

The hotel pool is excellent although like the other reviews its difficult to get a bed unless you are up at 6.30 am- which wasnt a problem for me as I get up at that time anyway.(mind you we did go in spring break which is busier than normal anyway)

The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen and there are plenty of sunbeds available on the beach (free of charge) so alot of the time We spent on the beach- there are plenty of water sports available and umbrellas should you need to go in the shade.

The restaurants and food were excellent I can not fault them one bit - everything we ate was hot and fresh and breakfast was particually good at getting up for- you are spoiled for choice.( there is alos room service available should you want to stay in again included in your holiday price)

The hotel grounds are the most beautifull hotel grounds I have ever seen, there is a little jungle ruuning through the hotel with monkeys, flamingos, birds, parrotts and little tiny boars - I honestly felt like Alice in Wonderland when I walked through it-it was amazing.

The Hotel staff are all very helpfull and charming- we never accounted any problems or rudenes from anybody and are rooms werw cleaned everyday.

many reviews I've read compalined that the hotel is full of American people which it was, but so what!!!! thats like going to spain and saying its full of spainish people!!! They are all very pleasent and chatty if you feel like chatting!!

We didnt go out much in the resort so I can't tell you much about that all though we took a trip to a place called Xel- ha which is well worth a vist( go on your own though, we went through the rep and when we got there the price was HALF of what we paid and it would of been much cheaper for us just to get a taxi there on our own and pay when we got there!!!) all in all we were very pleased with the hotel and would higly reccomend it- there are plenty of activities available also yoga in the morning by the beach which I enjoyed and I normally dont do Yoga!! There is entertainment every night and also early evening for kids should you have them.

There is free scuba diving, spas and hairdressers although you have to pay extra for them.

great hotel, great weather, great people.

we would defintaly go again.

Hope this helps.

Booked with Thomas cook after reading reviews of airline i was really worried about flight,

It was fine all long haul economy flights are bad anyway but this was ok, leg room not too bad really nice staff, food awful .

Cancun airport is not as bad as some reviews suggest, airconditoned , friendly staff and passport control not different to any other, only tip check all baggage consuls not just the one they say your luggage is on , they can get mixed up

The worst bit is the transfer from cancun airport to playacar took over 2 hours if you can book a private taxi.

The humidity hits you as soon as you walk out of the airport , it is really hot, we had been checking the weather before we left and it had said thunderstorms and rain

the rep on the coach told us not to take any notice of the forcasts and it hadnt rained for 3 weeks and it was 40 in the shade and she was right take plenty of mossie spray ,bens 100 ,is really good it is 90%deet but dont use it on children.

Arrived at quetzel about 11pm taken to room by buggy and bell boy takes care of your luggage,
rooms fine not 5 star standard but really clean and comfortable great air conditioning and free mini bar, tv with a few english channels.

we had a view of the jungle right by the pool it was great seeing all the animals in the morining , monkeys, funny guinea pig type creatures, lizards, iguanas, etc.

buffet meals where lovely staff really friendly, all types of food, fresh cooked omelettes, sea food, salads, fantastic cakes and pastries.

We boooked 3 a la carte japanese cooked on a hot plate not too bad soup really strange taste,

steak house was in the open resturant by pool great choice of steaks really nice food cooked just how you ask.

italian lovely food all types of pasta or you can have steak, chicken, lamb.

the pool is the biggest i have ever seen quite deep but there is a childrens sections
there is also a pool with swim up bar but always full of really loud americans and i mean loud !

The entertainments team worked really hard but it can be a bit cheesy, the mexican night was really good though.

overall it was an excellent holiday visit ex hal it is amazing place and all inclusive food and drink and snorkiling gear included.

we booked for nexted year the day after we came home it was that good, this time we have premium seats though.
