To start with, we were the only family who were visiting this hotel out of the whole aeroplane. This was a little worrying. Then, when we got there the hotel didn't know that we were coming. Part of the entrance roof was missing, tiles in the foyer were bro...
To start with, we were the only family who were visiting this hotel out of the whole aeroplane. This was a little worrying. Then, when we got there the hotel didn't know that we were coming. Part of the entrance roof was missing, tiles in the foyer were broken and missing and there was glass EVERYWHERE! Let's clarify that this was one week after Hurricane Emily but we were assured time without number that the hotel was unaffected by the hurricane and total safe to visit.
The pool water was green, you couldn't get onto the beach for broken glass, dead fish and dirty nappies. Two restaurants were closed for almost a week. First and second floor balcony balustrades were missing, meaning you could fall 30-40 feet, on to CONCRETE!
Food and drink was deplorable, disgusting, and anything but delicious. Flies and bluebottles were everywhere. People were being sick all over the hotel and the sickness was left lying for 2-3 days. All of our party plus 2 other parties that we knew ALL had sickness and diarrhea. There were bees and wasps all around the bars and food. Cups were being washed in manky, brown water.
Hotel entertainment was a joke. There were 2 shows per week which both lasted for around 30 mins. Childrens entertainer charged for face painting(in an ALL-INCLUSIVE HOTEL!) then went out at night with the profits, cancelling the Mini-Disco before she left.
We asked for the glass around our room to be cleared. We were told this had been done. Our daughter then went out onto the terrace and almost lost a toe because she stood on a 15cm piece of glass.
All outside lights were either smashed or hanging off the wall by the wires. There were still saws and jack-hammers going on throughout the day for 3 days solid. Imagine paying for a massage only to hear that racket.
We have been several tropical and European holidays and always thouroughly enjoyed them. This was an absolute nightmare. We could still have written much more.
On the day we left all new arrivals were turned at the door and this hotel took no further bookings for several months. So that will let you know how bad this hotel was.
Our adivce would be to STAY WELL AWAY!
