Well what can i say this was the best hliday i have ever had ,rooms were large and spacious,the staff excellant and always pleased to help,the food even though buffett style was excelant loads of choice and tasty too one down side was the stake resteraunt it was a bit of a dissapointment after eating in the normal one could do better here..

the beach was a short stroll away but if you were feeling lazy a golf cart type train would take you down there.prices in the town are a rip off they see your armbands and put an extra few dollers on the price so do haggle!!!!!!...

sights to see the pyrimids is a must you can get these in town cheaper than your rep..the italian tour operater was the best in town $35 per adult to chitzen itza,airtours wanted $68 for the same trip!!.

another must is the swim with the dolphins this was a great experiance the price for this is the same all over so might as well book with your rep,downside is the trip home mexican security take ages we were 2hrs before geting on flight home.no time for last minute duty free or anything we had to run to the gate to get the flight..

so if your going to mexico want 5* treatment you cant go wrong with the riu tequila enjoy ide give the resort the hotel and beach 10 out of 10 ..........

Ist time in Mexico, bit apprehensive,but this holiday was fantastic from start to finish.Hotel was 1st class as well as the food.The thompson rep was excellant. The entertainment you couldn't fault and the animation team were very professional and friendly.Beach 5mins away,plenty of free sunbeds.The mexican street was 2min walk away where the bank,chemist,shops and public phones ,easy for making calls back home.

We always said that we would never visit the same place twice as there is so much more to see but i am very tempted to go back to the riu tequila as this holiday will be very hard to beat,

This hotel was recommended to us by four couples. We were not dissappointed. It is 5* all inclusive. The hotel is made up of low rise buildings (2 storey), the rooms big: 2 double beds, dressing area, air con, tv, balcony etc, and mini bar (re stocked every other day) and your own optics! The hotel lobby and restaurants are amazing and the service from all staff, first class. If you wanted someting they do it / get it immediately. Waiter service for dinner, you dined at the same table each night which we liked. The quality of food and variety were again excellent. Most was buffet but they would cook to your own taste, ie rare for steak. Other A la carte restaurants could be booked too including the other Riu hotels nereby except the Palace. The two pools were good and the swim up cocktail bar brilliant. Free golf car to the beach (approx 800m) at the Riu hotel opposite.

So many excursions to go on. I'd recommend Chitchen Itza, Conzumel (for snorkelling / diving) and swimming with dolphins.

Evening entertainment was excellent the performers being extremely professional. Some shows were simply amazing!

Only a few niggles. Difficult to book the two A la Carte restaurants, sunbeds couldn't be reserved but this was not enforced and most were gone around the pool by 9am. The weather very hot and humid. Early May/ late October probably best time to go. I was sweating all the time in June.

Hotel has gym, hairdressers, massage, shops, the lot. Free daily towels for pool, everything is included, as you would expect.

You can venture out and see the town (5th Avenue) but there really is no need.

Overall our best holiday and best hotel so far. Would certainly go back. First class.

What more can I say other than Fantastic!!! This really has to be one of the best holidays I have ever been on, the hotel was lovely (very clean, staff so friendly and food and drink free flowing and excellent) I don't have a bad word to say other than the people who grab sunloungers at 6am should be named and shamed on a daily basis especially when the were not used until late afternoon - however who could complain when you have the caribbean sea right on your door step well a short walk or trip in the feet-friendly transport laid on by the hotel. The entertainment was very professional and the disco well from what I can remember following far too may cocktails was a laugh. Would highly recommend the Riu chain of hotels for quality and playacar to anyone who wants a relaxing, safe and care-free holiday with all the delights the caribbean offers... we will be back!!!

This holiday was fantastic from start to finish. Riu have definitely got the idea of what make's an excellent holiday. Once we landed and got on our transfer coach there were 2 Riu staff who got on with us to check us in on the coach so we wouldn't have to queue once we got the hotel. The porters take your bags straight to your room so you don't have to worry lugging them to your room as the hotel is huge.

The rooms are really nicely decorated and extremely well kept and cleaned (you will often find the cleaner has left you animals made from towels when you get back to your room). The buffet restaurant is superb and there is lots of choice. I was a bit worried as I am quite fussy with food but had no problem eating after all you can have chips every night if you want.

There is a walk way opposite the hotel which takes you down to the fantastic beach. We had no problem getting a lounger there even if we went down at 12.00. There is 2 watersports centre's where you can use pedaloes and kayaks and are included aswell. The pool area is nice for relaxing but it is a bit of a nightmare getting a lounger. The staff have got to be the friendliest people I have ever met, they really cannot do enough for you. The evening entertainment is very professional and well worth watching and if you don't want to go to bed once it finishes at 11.00 you can go to the nightclub which is quite a laugh.

If you are considering this hotel for your next holiday all I can say is go, go, go!!

The hotel is in a resort with the other hotels Riu Playacar and Riu Yucatan and all three hotels are of exactly the same standard although I prefered the Tequila as it seemed to have more atmosphere.

Overall the best hotel and holiday I have ever been on!!
