We planned a dream honeymoon, and it ended up being a nightmare. We booked with the Chile Pepper Inn (hotelmex website), and booked the flights from London to Los Cabos through Opodo. Three days before departure we received an email from ANOTHER hotel's manager, teling us that Marcos Kurcera, the manager of the Chile Pepper Inn, has 'done a runner'; stolen all of the guests' deposit money, transhed the rooms and the gardens, and taken off. So we were forced to cancel the holiday, and only received %50 from Opodo for the flight from London to Mexico City, and nothing back for the internal flight to Los Cabos (also through Opodo). I was misled by Opodo's customer service agent to think that we would receive a %50 refund on both flights, only to be told by email that that wasn't the case. I also had to email Opodo, THREE times to re-confirm that we wanted to cancel the flight tickets. And now our summer will be spent tracking down the owners of the Chile Pepper Inn, and trying to get our money back, and/or suing the hotel company for the full cost of our holiday. (About £1300). Brilliant. What a dream holiday this wasn't! I hope no-one was staying at the Chile Pepper Inn when you decided to wreck it and take off with everyone's money. Whatever you do, DON'T book a hotel unless you know it belongs to the ABTA, or IATA, or do it through your travel agent or you'll surely get burned. The only company who acted responsibly through this ordeal has been Capital One Visa. They've covered us for the hotel, and are tracking down the hotel owners to get compensation for the loss.
