"Agadir town"
Overall Resort Rating:
A very nice little town although didn't get to see as much as we would have liked. Some areas were very poor though, we had a few people asking us for clothes, money, toiletries etc but would go there again.

"Taroudant"
Overall Resort Rating:
A beautiful town, how I imagine Marrakech must have been hundreads of years ago. Very friendly people, great scenery (especially if you take a caleche and drive round the city walls. Good shopping - half the price of Marrakech. A good place to break the journey to or from Agadir. If you drive through the mountain pass from Marrakech - take care!

"Fantastic and luxurious hotel"
Overall Resort Rating:
Agadir’s airport is humble but pleasant. Don't expect any help from the security staff at the airport with any questions or queries when handing in your entry cards on arrival - take a pen as well to fill this on when flying into Agadir. We ended up asking an airport police officer for one!! Another point you'll need to note, the airport porters do nothing for free - and will pester you for a tip when delivering your luggage to your awaiting coach. They'll happily accept any currency as a tip too! Handy hint, do it all yourself!
On the transfer to the airport it is a culture shock seeing the older parts of Agadir, but the scenery changes rapidly as you reach the tourist area, and its a pleasant surprise.
Our rep was able to point us in the direction of places where we could shop and not haggle. The two stores pointed out to us were Uni Prix and Marjane. Uni Prix feels very much like an indoor market, but the bargains are AMAZING!! The Marjane is is more like a Tesco's in design, and this seems to be where the locals also do their weekly shop.
Its best to get taxi's everywhere in Agadir, they're cheap enough - between 10 and 25 Dirhams (max £2 really). The prevalent orange taxi's are easily hailed but don't expect seat-belts and a UK standard of vehicle road worthiness. Although the drivers are pleasant enough.
Saturday and Sunday nights on the promenade are jam-packed with locals meeting and greeting - don't be shocked to see small children selling roses to tourists at 10pm either.
There is a lot of redevelopment in Agadir, so there's lots of building work. The Agadir Beach Club Hotel is unaffected though by this, but it is visible outside the the hotel.
The roads are a bit problematic to cross, and the pathways are very dusty and some areas are not in the best condition.
For the weary English traveller craving burger and chips, the English Pub is the place to be. Reading the menu on the beer selection - note it is all based on half pint measures!!!! The prices are similar to the UK in there, but it does have Sky Sports.
McDonalds and Pizza Hut are on the promenade also, and when we popped in for a "snack" it was very busy. The area around it is being resurfaced, but its business as usual. The promenade at night time is very well lit, and safe to walk around on.
Overall the resort itself is very pleasing, both daytime and night, although the evening is when the resort really comes to life.

Rather dull though it was during Ramadan, town is purely for tourists has a McDonald's and Pizza Hut. Fairly cheap food, private beaches, not a great deal else to do though.

"MOROCCO"
Overall Resort Rating:
The beach was lovely and you could walk along the beach to come to some shops and a macdonalds! The prices were similiar to in the UK. No real baragins to be had near the resort but there are markets you can visit which are a short taxi ride away. The people were all really friendly and we did not get hassled when we left the resort. There is not much to do in terms of nightlight, there is a nightclub at the sister hotel but we did not visit it as the entertainment was good at the hotel

"Very very windy!!"
Overall Resort Rating:
Both times we have been (may 2007/2008) it has been too windy to enjoy the beach, with sandstorms, however we did get one day at the beach last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The locals will hassle you, as they do in other countrys (Tunisia, Turkey etc) but they are very friendly, and they get the message if you are friendly but stick to your guns!
Not much nightlife - we got one night out as a couple (my parents came with us!). Two of the animation team arranged to meet us and accompany us to the best nightclub - however I wouldnt come to agadir if your expecting pumping nightlife!!
