We were impressed with Agadir and would go back. It is just like any other Med resort really, all the kind of restaurants and bars you expect but it is a fair bit cheaper than Greece/Cyprus.

Stayed in an all inclusive hotel so didn't see as much as we would have liked . Took the little train around the resort & it looked a nice city . Walked the promenade a couple of times & it had a good atmosphere especially at night . Plenty of restaurants on the prom which looked worth a visit .

Agadir is not the place you want to visit if you are wanting to visit lots of places and do lots of activities but it is the place to come if you want to relax on the beach and use the area as a great base for travelling to other parts of the country such as marrrakech, tarroudant and others.

"Not a lot to do!"

Overall Resort Rating:

Open quote

We ventured out during the day and most evenings for a walk along the promenade. There was little to see and do to be honest in this resort.

The beach as mentioned earlier is poor and comments from others can be read on tripadvisor.

We were all inclusive at our hotel so did not need to buy food outside of the hotel. We did get a McFlurry from McDonalds and this cost £1.60.

The weather in July/August is poor, no where did we read that there would be cloud cover for most of the day with sunshine only breaking through mid to late afternoon if you are lucky. I suggest if you want to go to Morocco, go somewhere more inland or go at a different time of year.

Agadir is still developing after an earthquake in 1960 but i think it will only get better as it grows. Excellant mix of modern meets traditional.

Horrible beach, litter everywhere, people constantly begging for money and food, constant smell of sewerage, shanty towns and derelict buildings everywhere you look. No real nightlife or things to do at night. The only 'sightseeing' is the kasbah or a day long trip to Marrakech.

"Be prepared to get bothered!"

Overall Resort Rating:

Good

Open quote

Agadir itself is a lovely place. It's just a shame there isn't a lot to do there if you're not prepared to just lounge around all day which myself and my partner were not. The harbour and the casbah are worth a visit and, well, that's it! We filled our days doing excursions through Thomson travel agency but obviously this cost us a lot of extra money. Because we were so obviously English (pale skin!) we got mithered constantly to go on trips, come in shops etc by the locals. Obviously we understood that that was how they did things there but it got a bit annoying after a while. The souk is also quite scary but you can get guides to help show you around and barter for you. Just be prepared for them to demand a massive tip (which we haggled down!) and for them to take you purely to their friends' shops!

the only real fault about agadir is do not visit in august, as there is a mist which hovers around the bay so it keeps the sun from coming out till after dinner time, although it is still warm it would have been nice to wake up to some sunshine.

Very much a tourist area. You need to go on a trip around to see the real Morocco. However, it was all very pleasant, and the beaches are lovely soft sand, and in every way very good.

"ClubHotel Riu Tikida Dunas"

Overall Resort Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

The Riu Tikida Dunas is all about the swimming pool – or, should we say, swimming pools. There are four in total, and they’re absolutely huge. The three outdoor ones come with all the added extras you can think of, like water polo nets, wooden bridges and even palm-dotted islands. And when you fancy a spot of sunbathing, you can pick between the terraces and gardens that snake their way between the pools. Inside, meanwhile, you’ll find yet another waterhole. It’s part of the hotel’s spa, which also offers up massages and a hammam. Elsewhere, there’s plenty to keep you busy. If sports are your thing, try your hand at a game of tennis, football or basketball. Or jump on a hotel shuttle and head to the nearby Golf du Soleil golf course for a scenic round. The hotel also puts on more unusual activities like silk and t-shirt painting classes.

"Riad Dar Sbihi"

Overall Resort Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

When Saad and Sybille began restoring Dar Sbihi, they used local craftsman and traditional techniques to create the Marrakechi masterpiece you see today. Authentic interiors mix with mod cons to create an unpretentious atmosphere - it’s all limestone rendering, milk chocolate-coloured cedarwood and satellite TVs. And then there’s the view. To one side it’s the sanctuary of one of Marrakech’s seven saints and to the other it’s the Medina and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains beyond. It doesn’t get much better than this – or so you might think.

Agadir was a bit different. The beach wasn’t the best we have been to, but the pool at our hotel was nice. There are some excellent restaurants, plus some dubious ones. The souk is well worth a trip and is huge, but everyone wants you to buy something!
