My Husband and I went to Agadir on a late holiday but had named accomodation. We stayed at the hotel al madina Palace for one week on half board. After we booked our holiday I read some of the reviews on this hotel and feel I have got to tell you what we thought of it. The hotel was very good, I wouldnt say a 4 star hotel as said in the brochure. I would give it a three star rating. The food was very good with lots of choice you also have a choice of five other resturants to eat at within this hotel complex.Beware the water in the pools was ice cold all week. Guest asked for it to be heated, as in the brochure it stated this up to May but they never did do anything about it.The staff could not do enough for you and always addressed you when they saw you. It was easy to change your currency. The Goverment has set one rate no matter where you change your money. Which saves a lot of time. The people are lovely and we never felt intimadated at all. The beach was not very big but was clean and safe. You have to be aware that they are under currents if you are going in the sea.

The weather was very hot. At first about 32C then at the end of our holiday it got to about 40C.The down side of Morocco was the alcholic drinks was very expensive so if you like a drink take lots of money with you. In the hotel for a watered down lager per pint cost £4 in English money and about the same for shorts. They is a English pub on the complex which is cheaper and the food is good and reasonable. They is no entertainment in the evening except in some of the hotels maybe, but they don't encourage you to go in unless you are a guest there.

We enjoyed this holiday and say to others give it a try, we think you will do too.

Transferred to this this hotel from Hotel Argana.
Most rooms are excellent rooms for couples, spacious and morroccan in style.Set out in lots of interesting nooks a cranies, lots of little areas for private sunbathing if you choose not to go around the pool. Water quite cool in Feb, sea too cold to swim in but temp in 20s.We had a family rooms consisting of two spacious bedrooms, both on suite, general living room with TV and another toilet plus two large private patios. Easy walking to the sea, children loved the long sandy beach.

Food excellent with a massive selection of all types of eatables both at breakfast and dinner.
Three other eaters you can try but we used the Mexican but found we were only allowed a set menu so went back to the main restaurant for the rest of the week.
Attached is the English Bar. Normally I would run a mile from anything like this but I have to admit I enjoyed it. Staff friendly, Sky Sports I am ashamed to say was watched a few times. Children loved having their lunch there. It was lovelly to walk out of hotel for a stroll along the beach then back to the hotel.Sometimes children were happy to play in rooms, on patios or watching TV while we went out for a walk or a drink for half an hour or more. Children totally safe.

Only there for one week so did not go on trips. No more hassle from traders than any similar resort. Just be polite and they stop.
Most things stopped at 12.30 am including the hotel bar but maybe this was the time of year.

One word of warning. Just passed the English pub is a Club Sphinx which seems to go very loud from 11 to 1 am every night. If your room is near the Pub end of the Hotel you will be disturbed. Quiet everywhere else.Ask for a room away from the end where the pub is and you will be fine, no noise whatsoever.

The Al Madina Palace is a hotel fading from grace! It offers itself as 4* plus, and maybe it once was , but not anymore.
It has a lot of charm, being built in true Moorish style, with foliage laden alleyways, nooks and crannys, and cool courtyards, but its very design makes the rooms with their gunslit windows and heavy fretwork covers rather dark and gloomy. The rooms themselves are very nice, spacious, well furnished and spotless, but no balconies apart from odd ones.

The problem with this hotel is simply disorganisation and a lack of TLC. In terms of house staff , there are a lot of suits who seem to organise nothing, leaving the really very friendly staff to try to organise themselves - not a raging success!
The absolute requisites of constant hot water for a shower,(or any hot water at all, or even any water full stop at one point!), and a fully stocked Hot/ cold breakfast buffet seem unattainable in this hotel despite repeated requests to desk staff or restaraunt managers.

On the up side, you do not have to dine in the somewhat faded main restaraunt each night, as the hotel offers a beautifully turned out Italian where you can dine as many times as you want. A first class Morrocan also used by the public, a Lebanese (grim dont bother) and an excellent Mexican, as well as Pizzeria well worth a visit. These are all free to guests if you pick the table d'hote menu. The hotels private beach is excellent, and its location is very central. You pays your money (which is not cheap) and takes your choice with this hotel. It sounds good but be prepared for some dissapointment.

Agadir? Clean spacious, plenty of cafe/bars really very nice. Keep out of the clutches of con men and beggars (dont worry, you will get the plot after the first time you get conned) and you will have avery good holiday in Agadir
