Spent a week at the Anezi in the middle of July. The room was very clean and cleaned every day, any problems we had were sorted out quickly and efficiently by reporting it to the hotel reception. We were on a BandB basis, so we didn't eat in the hotel much, but as you would expect, breakfast is continental style, if you want cooked English, stick to Spain. There are 3 bars in the hotel where the staff are polite and helpful. As always a smile and a little friendly banter goes along way.

There isn't much to do in Agadir itself, especially if you have younger teenagers. But the activity team did take upon themselves to take the older teenagers to the nightclub and made sure that they returned to the hotel safely. The market is worth a visit for the shopping and the medina for the views. You will get hassled by people trying to get you into shops but a polite but firm no usually works or just ignore them and carry on walking. Although a lot of the time, the locsals just wanted to chat and make sure you were enjoying your holiday. For most part I would say that the Moroccans are a very friendly people.

We ate out in the the evenings and although most of the menues are similar we found the smaller places had better quality. Two I would recommend are the Nautilas which is down the steps at the back of the hotel and across the road heading toward the beach, and one by the marina, near the nightclub called Jayne and Thierry, a french bistro place that specialised in Alsace regional cooking.

Overall if you just want to experience a different culture and to relax for a week it's a good place to go.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Anezi Hotel on a half board basis. We travelled with our 2 children, aged one and two.
The reception staff were not particularly welcoming and seemed to be very busy on our arrival. When we were shown to our room, I was horrified at how basic it was.

We were placed on the 1st floor, which had a partial pool and sea view. The room was very noisy as directly below there is a water generator which was really annoying. The bathroom light was fused and was very dim. We tried to get the air conditioning to work - but again its very noisy and did not really work. We were a family of 4 and were just given two twin beds. I wasn't impressed as we had specifically requested a cot for our baby.

I went to reception and outlined the problems and requested to be moved to another room. Reception staff just dismissed me, saying that there were no rooms available and to come back tomorrow after 1pm to check again. So we had to stay in the same room. The next day I requested for a room change, but was told that I should have come earlier at 10am as rooms had been allocated. I was so frustrated but they were not very helpful and asked me to come back the next day. So the next day I came and they offered us a room on the 3rd floor, and said this was the only other room available. When we went to look at the room it only had a double bed and we were a family of 4!!!
It just seemed that reception staff were not very bothered and to be honest I found them to be quiet rude.
On the positive side, the rooms are very very basic, however the maids did an excellent job at the cleaning. They visit everyday, and change the bed linen and towels each day.
Also the staff around the pool (the animation team) are excellent and work very hard!

Be warned - the food does not cater for kids or the British .... more for the Germans! Breakfast consisted of salads, peppers, olives, yoghurt and other weird things. It was the same breakfast each day with no variety. Evening meals consisted of cous cous, cold rice with tuna in it, trotters and other weird stuff! The only things my children had was the pasta for the 7 nights we stayed here.
We ate mostly from Pizza Hut or McDonalds which is located directly on the beach.

As a resort again there really isn't much to do if you are travelling with children. The beach is beautiful, and the sand is really nice too.
We will definately not be returning to the Anezi. There is a lot of building and construction going on around Agadir, so maybe in a few years there will be a bit more to see and do.
We spoke to other British guests staying at the hotel, and they felt the same as us, that there isn't much for children to do and that Hotel caters more for the Germans than the British.

To conclude the children did have a good time - we simply spent a week either on the beach or by the pool. If they were any older I think they would have definately got bored at the lack of entertainment for kids. For us, this Hotel is the worst hotel we have ever visited and we can't understand how it's a 3*rating being QQQQ in the brochure, its more like a 1* or 2*.
If you are thinking of booking a holiday here - I would seriously reconsider. If you've made the mistake of already booking - then Good Luck (becuase you're definately going to need it!)

Arrived in Agadir airport in blazing sunshine which was great for December. This continued all week from around 9.30am til about 5 in the afternoon. Check in quite thorough but fairly quick. There are official porters waiting outside to carry your case 20 yards or so to the coach who will expect a tip(a £ coin) but if you just say you're ok they won't argue or hassle u.

An interesting drive to the hotel(the last drop off point!) with a very informative rep and local guide explaining about local culture etc. First glimpse of hotel is very impressive because of it's height. Reception staff polite and friendly and there is a cashpoint to the left of the desk. The rooms are spacious with an enormous double bed you could fit 4 into!! Don't bother with the tv tho-only 1 channel-Euro news. Great views of Agadir from all rooms.

We were half board and found the food great and plentiful. Restaurant on 10th floor with breakfast starting at 5.45! Excellent beef and you can go up for 2nds (I did most days) Waiters very friendly and attentive. Beer and wine same price all over Agadir(even hotel bar). 20 dirham for a bottle of Flag beer (£1.25) and 95 for a bot of wine.

Entertainment by the pool was great fun. Jamal will introduce himself to u and if you want to get involved in anything just ask him. We did aerobics, darts and even took an arabic lesson! Michael the manager is always available for a chat and not just there to sort out problems.
Did the customery camel trek. A good laugh but can be sore the next day. Costs about £12.50.
Totally safe walking around even tho Sue is blond and we had heard that she might be kidnapped!! Locals trying to sell you souvenirs on the streets but not too pushy and are generally being friendly. Beware the spice man next to the irish bar tho-invited us in for a drink then wanted £35 for spices he bagged up. We got him down to £7 but he wasn't happy but we didn't want them in the 1st place.

To sum up we would deff return to this hotel next year. Very fair price and polite staff. The pool was heated as well which was a bonus. A minor downside was it could get a bit smokey in the bar but the waiter would open the windows on request. Bit fumey on the main road 2 but apart from that a great week.

Have just returned from a week trip from Agadir, Morocco.

When we pulled up to the Anezi I thought what a beautiful hotel and we were right, the reception area was elegant and the staff were very friendly.

The rooms were very spacious and the bed was huge. We went half board and breakfast was eggs, doughnuts, croissants, pastries, salad, cornflakes, fresh orange etc, it was very nice. The evening meal was lovely, soup to start, biggest selection of salads I have ever seen, chicken, beef, fish for main with potatoes and veg that was very tasty, dessert was delicious pastries and cakes, well worth it.

I found all the staff very friendly and always happy to help apart from 1 waiter which I found very arrogant and did not want to serve us in the hotel bar, just wanted to serve the french. But the waiter the previous nights was very helpful and we tipped him.

Beware of beggars there is loads of them as youn as 3 years old with the mothers telling them to go and ask for money, but just say no.

It is a key card system and they do not accept cash at the snack bar or bar. Best advice is to pay your bill daily and the bureau de change counter so you know where you are.

The beach was beautiful and the weather was lovely as well, came back with a great tan to say we have only been there a week.

I would definately go back, there is not a lot of bars and this is definately not a place for kids as there is nothing for them to do.

Beware of the La Central bar we got 6 bottles of Flag Beer and it cost £21!!!! One thing I would say ladies is keep hold of your partners/husbands as this bar is a real eye open!!!

But Jockeys Bar is a small pokey place but the beer was cold and we paid 33 dirrhams (£2.05).

The food at the front is cheap and so are soft drinks. You will pay about 35 dirrhams for a large beer which is about £2.10, so not cheap really. A bottle of Flag in the hotel is 20 dirrhams about £1.10 which is much better.

All in all a worth while trip with beautiful scenery. If you want loads of bars then this is not the place for you. There is a couple of night clubs that open to 6am, but most of the restaurants come bars close at 12 midnight.

We felt very safe as there is lots of police around and you can tell crime is very low in this country. Be ready for a few stares if you walk about in shorts and thin vests and most of the locals are fully clothed with coats on. This is a muslim country but Agadir is relaxed. Topless is an absolute No No here

i travelled to agadir with my boyfriend, staying half board at hotel anezi for 2 weeks in july/august 05. we travelled with sunset.. the flight was fine (except the pilot told us we didnt need to change our watches?? time difference is an hour behind!) when we got to agadir airport we went thru baggage reclaim, passport control etc really quickly, we were in the airport bus in less than half an hour from landing. a few forms to fill in but these will usually have been done on the plane. i was prepared to be hassled at the airport by porters wanting to take my bags etc+wanting tips, but i wasn't at all.. i think other people were but to be honest i didn't even see any porters! there are plenty of luggage trolleys tho.

transfer to agadir is only half an hour.. a good job as the road is dusty and boring. excpect to be told to look out for tree climbing goats! i didn't see any tho.

on arrival to agadir and pulling up at hotel anezi first impressions were good.. its the tallest hotel in the town, and whitewashed, all new looking, with a gorgeous waterfall set into the side of the hotel entrance.
things then went a bit pear shaped..

reception staff were unbeleivably rude, didn't smile, hardly spoke any englsih.. i definately recommend brushing up on school girl/boy french as if i didn't know any at all we would have really struggled. i had emailed the hotel manager prior to the holiday to request a room on a high floor with a double bed and fridge, which i had received confirmation in writing for.. however this wasn't provided! the room they put us in was plesant, but the wouldn't change, just saying 'no problem no problem' all the time.. as in WE didn't have a problem!! however when i started waving my email confirmation around and attempting the school girl french they said we would have to wait for the manager.. well it was worth the wait, he's a little old irish guy called michael, really sound, he sorted everything out for us straight away.. any probs just go and see him, his room is to the right of the money exchange desk.. when the door is open he is in.

the room we had was fine, massive comfortable queen size bed, room very clean, however teh air con was a joke, just a tiny trickle of cool air, didn't make a difference at all, however it is quite cool in the evenings (desert weather) so it didn't really bother us, but thats not the point really is it!!
tv in the room just has one uk news channel and the radio dosn't work! nice little balcony with a view of the sea, pool and the whole of agadir.

breakfast was fab.. eggs cooked to your liking ( a bit runny tho.. i wasn't sure of the french for 'well done!', pastries, bread, cornflakes, fruit salad, pancakes, salad stuff, jam, honey, alsorts, you couldn't go hungry at breakfast unless you were waiting for the sole toaster to work, it would be quicker to put it in the sun outside! dinner was a bit mining tho, generally catering for the french, of which the hotel is full of.. hardly any english (although there seemed to be more arriving towards the end of our holdiay) we are quite adventurous eaters but would only touch rice and chicken in the evenings, everything else looked too dodgy, tripe and stuff!! so we only ate there a couple of times and ate out every other nite, you can have lunch at the hotel if you don't want dinner in the evening but its limited.. chicken or fish usualy for main, with salad for starter and icecream.

there are loads of fab restaurants in the resort tho, or favourite was jardain d'leau, its fab and has really friendly engish speakin waiters if you sit outisde, the mexican taco loco is also nice, and via vinetto which is to the left of uni prix supermarket.. the fixed price supermarket for water, crisps, alcohol, not very cheap tho.. biscuits etc, even moroccan brands, were over a pound a packet?!
la scala restaurant is also nice, if you want to go to the beach go to palm beach, best to access it from the road, you can book a sunlounger there for 20 dirhams a day and its dead realaxing, the beach and sea are gorgeous.. quite a lot of locals on the main beach but we were never hassled at all.. palm beach also has a fab little cafe, it looks a bit minging but the food is lush, i recommend cheese omlete and dame blanche icecream.. i had it nearly every day for 2 weeks!!

my boyfriend went jetskiing and loved it, you get 1/2 hour for only 300dirhams which is very cheap compared to european prices, he also went paragliding for 300 dirhams but said it was a rip off, only lasted for about 10 mins max.

hardly any nite life.. to even have a drink you have to go to restaurants, not many bars on their own at all.. you don't have to eat in the restaurants tho, you can just drink.. there may be some nightclus in agadir but i think they're in the big hotels, we didn't venture into any.

the entertainment in the hotel is geared towards the french.. even the signs advertising the entertainment.. poolside activites geared towards kids, again all in french, evening entertainment usually little kids disco and then a bloke on an organ. not my idea of fun! and all in french. i think there is a morocco theme nite once a week but we didn't go.

i wouldn't go back here, but only coz of the unhelpful, unfriendly staff, the way nothing was geared towards english people, and lack of nitelife.

weather was fab, but very cloudy in the mornings.. sun didn't come out til miday, but then stayed hot til 6pm.. cool in the evenings tho, take a cardi!
