Hotel Kamal was very clean and safe with friendly staff although beware locals outside the Hotel identifying new arrivals to try and con dirhams out of you we were offered everything from tours to restaurants to drgs to one day exhibitions all for a fee of course all these people say they work in or for the hotel to try gain your trust when actually they were conmen

Try local restaurants in the old part of town they are half the price and the food is much better than the beach
we joined the recomended 2 day royale tour to marakesh but were dissapointed the days were badly planned (7 hours between meals )some of the food was unedible and the hotel was dirty £200 could have been better spent.

The resort tour rep was excellent a local person that provided invaluable knowledge and always with a smile
Altogether a good holiday in a great hotel and a good resort but be prepared for plenty begging and hassle in shops.

Just returned from a week in Agadir. Stayed at the Hotel Kamal. Clean enough hotel with very helpful staff, although the hotel looks like it was built in the 70's and nothing has been done since! Rooms clean enough, but be sure to hire a fan for the room as the hotel lacks air-con. Breakfast comprises of breads and jam, tea and coffee and you pay for any extra's. Booked via First choice but as it was only the start of the season we had to fly via Gatwick both directions.

Did a 2 day trip to Marrakech (organised via First Choice), on a bus with limited air-con. Didn't see much of the Medina due to being ferried around lots and an evening meal that lasted for 3 hours, but well worth the trip and you can have a good haggle. The 2nd day of the trip we went to nice fishing town back towards Agadir. The resort of Agadir is big enough to have a good walk around, lots of different restaurants top choose from. Lots of French tourists there and all the locals speak French. The road signs are also in French!

Ideal place for a week away to re-charge the batteries and not too much hassle from the locals.

Just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Kamal in Agadir. Chose hotel from reading reviews on this site and were certainly not disappointed. Hotel is kept extremely clean, staff very friendly and genuinely will go out of their way to help. Decor is slightly tired but adds to the appeal! No air-con wasn't a problem in March but could be a draw back in the height of summer. Agree with comments about breakfast bread, croissants and jam howevere can supplement this very cheaply if you need to.

Agadir is easy to get around and didn't recieve as much hassle as I've encountered in other parts of the world! If you are buying things have a look at Uniprix (opp Kamal) to get an idea of prices before 'haggling' in the souk etc. Food is very reasonable and lots of choice. Recommend Jardin D'leau (Ave 20 Aout), Johara (also Ave 20 Aout) and Via Vento (just past Uni Prix).

Agadir is an excellent alternative to a week in the Canaries there is not lots to do in the city - Souk and Kasbah are good for spending a few hours.(Tip if you don't want a camel ride don't get on one just for a photo!) Beach is lovely and wide if you don't want to be disturbed by people selling things use one of the many private sections dotted along the beach. (We used Palm beach cost 20dh/day (@£1.30) for sunbed , umbrella etc with use of toilets, restaurant etc)

Quite easy to walk to the beach from hotel (about 10mins) and a walk via Birds Valley can be a nice route. Alternatively orange taxis are very cheap only 15dh max (£1!)just make sure they put the meter on!

Easy to stay in Agadir if you just want a relaxing holiday although can be used as a good base to see the 'real Morrocco'. Lots of trips to various places Marrakesh, Essouria, Tafroute etc on offer. We went independantly to Taroudant which was really interesting and some of the sites en-route (goats climbing trees!) are very worthwhile.

We stayed at the Hotel Kamal and it is the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed at.
The staff are lovely and friendly and the pool guy is very efficient.
A bottle of beer at the hotel was 20 dirhams which is about £1.27, vodka and mixer was 35 dirhams about £2.20 so stick to the local beer if you can.
We ate lunch by the pool once which was reasonable enough, but you could get cheaper if you went down to the main drag.

Our favourite bar/restaurant was Jardin D'eau. The food and service was top notch and the prices were very reasonable. The cocktails were about £3.00 each but worth the money.

We also ate in Petit Dome which was the cheapest by far, an omlete of your choice and chips cost about £1.50.

We were there for 1 week and went on 3 tours. The first one was a day trip to Marrkech which was a long day but worth it to see the real Morocco. Lunch and Dinner was included in the cost of the trip, both were traditional moroccan food, both meals were very similar and don't expect much more than a plate of carrots to eat if you're a vegetarian. We left the hotel @ 05:40 and didn't return until around 01.20 the next day. The bus was comfortable and airconditioned so no trouble sleeping.
2nd trip was the Berber Soiree, I wasn't looking forward to it but it turned out to be the hightlight of my holiday. It was a great night of eating, drinking and dancign. Be warned you only eat with your hands, and if your offered a chance to play any of the instruments they will expect a tip.
The last was a camel trek, scary but a nice route along the dunes. One thing i didn't appreciate was the way the camels were kicked and punched.

We were there during the world cup and they had 2 huge screens up to show the matches, it was a nice atmoshphere.
Agadir is not that different from a European beach resort, less drinking (pubs/restuarants tend to close at midnight) but one of the best beaches i have been to. Jet ski cost 70 dirhams (approx £19) for 30 mins.
Not very big on the English language.

All over nice relaxed holiday.
