"Marrakech"
Overall Resort Rating:
I visited Marrakech in August and had a really lovely week there. Apparently the temperatures can be very very hot at this time of year, up to 50degrees according to one of our reps, but whilst we were there it was around the late thirties and very pleasant for strolling and sunbathing.
I really liked the city as it was incredibly friendly and relaxed. My party was just myself and my mum, but as two women alone there we felt very safe, even walking about the city at night.
In fact, at night is when the city comes to life even more, possibly more so than usual as we were there during Ramadam. We went up to the main city sqaure every evening where there were always a huge number of people, both tourists and locals, out for dinner, looking around the night market, listening to storytellers and watching the transvestite belly dancers!
During the day there are quite a few things to see including the souks, the mosques, and royal tombs and the Marjorelle gardens. We spent 5 days there, and managed to fit everything we wanted to see and do in. If we had been able to stay longer though there are quite a lot of trips to do out from the city to th Atlas mountains, and Essouria, a nearby coastal town, so there is plenty to keep you busy there.
The cost of living we found to be very cheap. Even though we were eating out in more touristy areas, we were still able to get a meal for two and soft drinks for around £10. This was for really good food as well - traditional Moroccan tagines and couscous.
I really enjoyed Marrakech, and would definitely go back there. It's obviously very different culturally from the UK, but the people were very friendly and welcoming and we had a lovely time there.

"Very interesting adventure!"
Overall Resort Rating:
(Firstly, it's not for young couples but I could only choose 1 option. Not really a family place. Also, I wasn't in a party of "party animals", but I also was not part of a couple!)
Inside the city walls of Marrakech gave me the adventurous holiday I was looking for (when compared to the Costa Del Sol!). It's busy, dusty, hot, sunny and a bit crazy! The souks are fun, but you have to barter and be prepared to walk away from what you want to get a good price. There are heaps of restaurants off the main square, at which the food quality seems to vary. Once we found a good one we went back for our last night but it was pretty poor the second time round! Outside the walls of the city it all becomes much more European, which is a nice change if you're staying inside the walls. There are bars out there and very civilised street cafes. As 2 young, blonde British girls we got a lot of hassle, mostly calls of "feesh and cheeps", but also plenty of comments that we'd rather not have heard. The walk between the riad and "big square" was the worst part because it was so easy to be lost (streets don't match the maps), and as soon as we were off the path the local youths pounced. Even when told very firmly, they did not leave until a local spoke to them. In general, Moroccans are very very friendly and well-meaning, but as Brits we were so unfamiliar with their ways that we were sometimes quite uncomfortable, even though we covered ourselves up wherever we went.
I would strongly advise any girl to travel with a man, although I realise how sexist that is!

"Oudaya Hotel"
Overall Resort Rating:
If the mesmerising snake charmers and sizzling food stalls of Jemaa El Fna top your list of ‘must see’ sights then Hotel Oudaya is a great base for you. Just a ten minute taxi ride from the world famous square and the city’s well-loved souks, this hotel offers you clean and comfortable rooms in an area ripe with restaurants, cafés and shops. In the courtyard you’ll find a swimming pool and a small sun terrace, while a stone’s throw away the simply decorated restaurant serves up down-to-earth yet mouthwatering dishes. If you’re looking for a warm welcome and a fabulous city centre location then look no further than this well-maintained hotel – a great base for getting to know this enchanting niche of North Africa.

"Not the place for me"
Overall Resort Rating:
I really didn't like Marrakech. I spoke to another tourist and he felt that it was a very tiring city and not much of a holiday and I agree. People continuously heckle you and try to get you to buy things. Be prepared to be stared at if you are a western tourist.

"oasis of calm"
Overall Resort Rating:
This was our first visit to Marrakech, and we are delighted with our stay in dar najat. Situated handily in the busy Medina area, down a rather unpromising series of alleyways, it was a relaxing oasis of calm. Service was good, the Riad was attractively decorated with jaccuzi on a stunning rooftop . Our room and bathroom was clean, comfortable, and well designed. We ate dinner on the Riad rooftop one evening, and both thoroughly enjoyed the Moroccan fare. Both of us would be happy to return in the future. thank you all .

Marrakech is great, really lively market especially at night. Not sure about all of the snakes and stuff they try and put on you though! It is really hot, so good to stay somewhere with a pool.

"dar najat"
Overall Resort Rating:
the best riad from marrakech Best place to stay in Marrakech :boutique riad dar najat.
I’m not very used with reviews but this time..we had to write some few words as all in this romantic guest house have been more than helpful and kind with us!
Great atmosphere..fantastic to be in the jacuzzi on the roof terrace with a glass of wine..when getting hot!
All since the transfer from aerport until the end of the stay has just been perfect.
I have to say I was a little worried with this experience as I never stayed in any country of africa before this lovely trip.;but after one day of “ethnic choc..”I found all and Marrakech totally incredible..and safe as the location of the riad is just firty meters from the cousin of the king’s palace.
Art work amazing and the food was the real best we ever had in the all holidays.
For sure with out any hesitation,we’ll come back in dar najat for our next trip in Morocco.

"Imperial Holiday Hotel"
Overall Resort Rating:
Overlooking the pool and simple sun terrace is the glass-fronted Le Mont Royal restaurant, which serves up a variety of flavours. For a different view, head up to the rooftop terrace where you can savour a meal as you gaze out on the mighty Atlas mountains or enjoy a few drinks beneath an indigo sky flecked with stars.

"Marrakech"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marrakech feels really exotic and vibrant and there is such a mix of different people. You will spend time in the Souqs which are just off the main square which are full of all sorts of things to buy or you can just windowshop. There are lots of cafes with rooftops where you can soak up the atmosphere but without all the noise. It is also easy to get into the Atlas Mountains for a day trip. We just found it fascinating wandering down all the alleys and finding out what was round the next corner.

"Berberesque & Delightful"
Overall Resort Rating:
To be fair, we didn't venture out of the hotel complex much. But Marrakech itself really assults the senses and provides a delightful and must-do experience. The market area would not be to everyone's taste (and we only went once), but it is one of those "have to do's" on one's holiday agenda.

"A vibrant city"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marrakech is a wonderful vibrant city.
The souks are fantastic and loved the haggling, make sure you visit them at night. Was surprised that they close about 9pm, expected it to be much later, maybe they do stay open later in the summer.
Had to mark beaches as poor, only because it isn't a beach resort!
