"Magical Marrakech "
Overall Resort Rating:
The atmosphere, hustle and bustle and viberance hit like a sledge-hammer on the first visit, there are few , if any other city which compare. So many things to see which are unique.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the sights, sounds and smells are unforgettable YOU HAVE TO GO LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does get a bit busy trying to cross the road to the souks etc, you need to have your wits about you. you can get the most amazing food at the street stalls even though we were all inclusive we had to try the food, it was lovely and excellent value for money. you have to try the dates and local sweets they sell. Believe me you will not be dissapointed.

"Marrakech"
Overall Resort Rating:
Really exciting city, much different to anywhere in Europe! It is so frantic, with donkeys pulling carts etc, much missed in England! The main square at night is fantastic.

"Marrakech"
Overall Resort Rating:
We ventured into Marrakech town only once during our stay, and that was enough for us!
We got off the courtesy coach laid on by the hotel and we besieged straight away by locals wanting to show us around the souks.
My son ventured a little too close to a man with a snake and we ended up having to pay him 200 Dirhams for a handful of photos we took with my son and the snake.
The town wasn't our thing really, so we stayed on the hotel grounds after that.

"nice city"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marrakech is an interesting city, so close to Europe and yet so different in many ways. The contrast is particularly evident in the Medina, the old walled city, where motorbikes, donkeys and carts and cars jostle for right of way on the narrow dirty streets.

"Last trip to Arabia"
Overall Resort Rating:
Well, just like any other Arabic place really and much like Turkey lots to buy, lots to eat, lots to see and lots of people that seem genuine but really they just want your money and they seem to enjoy trying to cheat you out of it.
Be careful in the Herbalist type places, most of what they sell like oils and creams you can get for a fifth of the price in the little supermarket type stores in the basements just off the main square (in the same bottle/package as well).
The food is OK but nothing to write home about and if you are tempted to go all native in the evening in the Jemaa el-Fna square, leave it the first night and sit up in the restaurant in the afternoon/evening and watch them set up, see where the meat gets taken from under the trolleys, think of the heat and the flies etc etc and if still keen go ahead.
If you are asked for 350dh it will probably be bought for 200dh or less with a bit of haggle, dont forget there will be dozens the same a few metres away from the one you saw that one so offer your best price and then walk, bet nine times out of ten they come after you and agree a fairer price. Watch what they wrap up as well as it may not be all you bought!
Dont get me wrong I loved the place and all the exitement in the square it is just you point a camera at something and you get money demands, someone points you the way to the square and they ask for money, kids pestering you into buying tissues, people old, young, sick and just anyone really begging money. Much like Istanbul, Bodrum etc etc
It was OK for a short break but we were getting tired of it after 4 days. I hope this was just our experience and you had or will have a better trip.

"Souk Cuisine the best visit."
Overall Resort Rating:
We've taken cooking classes all over the globe, but none have compared with Souk Cuisine. It starts with a "trail by fire" of shopping in the hurried markets—Gemma gives you money for ingredients, but insists you get local prices—then finishes with a relaxed and educational cooking experience in her home. The meal we prepared was epic and made for a very memorable day. We can't recommend this enough.

Marrakech is great! It is a really frantic place, especially in the market at night. Some of the souks are a bit touristy which is a bit of a shame, but head away from the centre and the local ones are amazing, and a quarter of the price!

"Alleyways, Cats and Gardens"
Overall Resort Rating:
We loved the labyrinth of little streets in the Medina, the donkey carts and the cats - but don't go there if you suffer from cat phobia! There is some very beautiful Islamic architecture (e.g. the Madrassa ) as well as green spaces to escape to. I was politely shooed off the grass by a group of teenagers when I encroached on a piece of lawn in the Cyberpark. They had obviously been brought up to respect that this was strictly "defendu". Monumental cacti and other green plants at the Majorelle Gardens. They probably get rather busy at times.

"Noisy but fascinating!"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marakesh itself is manic! Having said that it's very interesting - always something going on. Mopeds being rode through the souks, donkeys and carts everywhere, sheep being transported on handcarts, mopeds, on roofracks and in car boots!! You will certainly see another side to life! Highly recommended.

"excellent city to see and feel"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marrakech has always been high up on my list of places to visit, so earlier this year I packed my bags and set off with a friend to explore the city. We flew with easyjet from London Gatwick to Marrakech Menara airport, convinently located around 15 minutes taxi ride from central Marrakech. Morrocco has a closed currency system meaning that Morrocan Dirhams cannot be brought into the country or taken out.

"Marrakech"
Overall Resort Rating:
Marrakech is a lovely place to visit for a long weekend. Only a short flight from UK but a completely different culture, climate and terrain. The city is divided into the old part within the medina and the new part. There are only a few places of interest (hence 3-4 days sufficient) and most of these are within the medina. A must is the Djema el Fna, the central square, which is a hive of activity and from which various streets with all the souks lead off. By day the square has vendors selling freshly squeezed orange juice (delicious), dried fruits and nuts and there are various street performers; by night the square transforms into one huge 'restaurant' - even if you decide not to risk eating here, its a feast for the eyes. People are generally friendly though some will hassle to sell their wares which you have to haggle over - not uncommon for them to slash prices by 50-60%. If you are going for more than 3 days, take a trip out to the Atlas mountains - its a treat to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and you will see some fine views.
