Not a bad hotel, an Ex Sheraton, a bit frayed round the edges but good value. Clean with helpful staff. Food OK but nothing special. Nice to come back to after day out in the town. It takes you 30mts+ to walk into town, Thomson's 3 minutes refers to taking a taxi, 40-50 Dh. for grand taxi for 4 people or 20-30 for petit taxi,up to 3 people. Agree fare before boarding and insist on going to where you have chosen, Square for example or you'll end up somewhere else. Souk and square are not closed on Fridays. Most Drinks about 25Dh.
Usual code for Arab Africa re pricing, beggers etc. Expect to pay for anything and everything. Offer at most one third to half price asked and keep small change available for tips.
People are very poor and desperate to make a quick dh. Give a little if you can, be polite but firm if you can't. They are mostly good people. It's a very different culture but we never felt threatened. Take care with traffic.
We greatly enjoyed ourselves, Marakech is well worth seeing, 4 nights easily covers it.
