not that much to do in Wassenaar and shops don't open until lunchtime on mondays. However, if you know where to go, nowhere is far to drive to in holland and there are some brill places to go and see.

Really was superb. Watch who you book with though since all tour operators (keycamp, eurocamp, thompsons) has some accommodation of the same kind yet the prices vary. Thompsons is by far the most expensive for the identical accommodation as keycamp and eurocamp. was amazing, the facilities are top notch and I'll be going back. Great that you don't pay extra for only having 2 people. Very helpful, refilled our gas within minutes of us telling them we'd run out, theme park and pool amazing!! Food was a bit expensive in the restaurants but to buy in local shops for in the caravans was normal.

Transfer from Airport
We booked the Connexions Minibus from outside the airport terminal. It was cheaper than getting a taxi and you can book your return pick up also. You can get the train into the centre of Amsterdam but check how far away your hotel is as it may you would need a taxi from there, so could just be more cost effective to get the minibus to the door.
Hotel Nadia
On arrival, could not believe how steep the staircase was! It did say so on the internet mind. On buzzing and entering, we were met by someone to take our bags up, thank god! There were at least 50 very steep stairs, so no use if you have walking difficulties. It was being painted when we were there so we had to crawl up and down, quite funny after a glass of wine or 2! Most of the hotels in that area are built inthe same style so check before you book. Staff on Reception were very pleasant and helpful and you got free guidebooks and a drink on arrival. They ahd storage for bags on the last day as we did not fly home until late in the day.
Rooms
The room was basic but clean and tidy. beds comfry and sheets clean. The bathroom was very small and there was not much room between the basin, toilet and the wall, so if you are a large person, you will not manage to squeeze through to the shower cubicle! Rooms on the front and side overlook one of the canals.
Breakfast
Continental, but plentiful and although the restaurant is very small, it was traditionally decorated with it being xmas time and the staff were there for anything you needed.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short break.
Amsterdam (Daytime)
If you come out of the hotel door, turn right and walk in a straight road for about 10 minutes, over a couple of bridges, you will come to a big supermarket on the corner and in front of there is Dam Square, which is a central point. This leads to all the shops, restaurants and bars, which you can explore on foor. If you wanted to venture further out of the centre, the trams are cheap and reliable.
Amsterdam (Nighttime)
We took a tram to Liebersplien (think that is spelling!?) which was much nicer at night, plenty of bars and restaurants. You get a bit sick of the Red Light District once you have seen it. Drinks and food were priced at about what you would pay here. Some a little dearer than others, so worth shopping around. The ";smoking"; bars were open day and night and people seemed really chilled out, we saw no trouble at all.
Xmas in Amsterdam
We arrived on 24th and everything was open. On 25th and 26th, most bars and restaurants were open but the department stores and some of the souvenier shops were not. Some of the tourist attractions were open, but to save disappointment, check before you fo if there is something specific you want to see. We went to Anne Franks House, The Zoo and the Diamond Museum, all very good. We also got an all day ticket for the canal boats which is a great way to jump on and off to see all of the city. It is compact and you can do alot on foot, but the canal boat saves you time and we only had a few days there.
All in all, we would recommend Amsterdam for a short city break. There is plenty to see and do and the people are friendly - enjoy!!

Just returned having spent 5 nights at this hotel. Very quaint and very small. We had a quad room with a double and 2 single beds. Tight squeeze but served a purpose. Staff very friendly, towels changed every day (a big plus) The only downside is the access. There are 3 sets of very, very steep and twisty stairs which made it hard work getting the suitcases up!! Not at all suitable for the elderly or anyone with mobility problems. Having said this the building is a typical old Amstedam residence so we felt this added to the charm.
Would reccommend this to anyone on a budget as it is so central.

When we arrived at the hotel we checked in ok, the hotel is on four floors and NO LIFT? The stairs are very steep and narrow you need rock climbing gear to get up these.
We were in a room on the top floor the bathroom was en-suite, as soon as the door was opened the stench from the drains was revolting! The room had mold on the walls and was in need of a re-vamp.
Breakfast was ok bread, jam, cold meats etc if anything had run out and you asked for more you were given a dirty look and told they would see if they had some more.
The good points were the reception had a fridge so you could at least buy cold drinks and water, the taxi number on reception is for a lovely guy who does not rip you off and well worth using, it was cheaper to go back to the airport with him than using the trams and trains etc.

We booked a superior van with Hoseasons which was lovely - very clean, modern and well equipped. There was a play ground just near the van where the children could play with kids of all different nationalities.
The staff in the park were very friendly and polite - all spoke perfect English. There were loads of play areas for older kids and you get free goes on the rides at the park. The swimming pool centre was brilliant as well. Well equipped super market on site. We also had the opportunity to visit Amsterdam for the day which we all enjoyed. Most people I got talking to were there for the 3rd or 4th visit and the kids are very keen to go back. Much better than any UK caravan sites I have been to and good value for money I thought.

this has got to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. To be fair the hotel is in great location and the staff are friendly enough, the hotel looks quite good from outside, however the rooms are a very different story, the room we were given looked like a cave, it was so small you could not swing a cat in the place and there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom which stayed the whole weekend, the bed sheets, curtains looked like they have never been washed, we never once had our room cleaned, beds made etc. There was no storage for clothes so had to live out our suitcase for our stay, this place is overpriced at £75 per night and is not fit for a dog to stay in. This place was so run down im surprised it has not been closed down

Amsterdam is a very liberal city and i enjoyed it loads. The Ramada is well located for all sightseeing everything is only a short walk away. The reception and breakfast areas are very nice, the breakfast is second to none. The hallways and rooms could do with a paint job as they need freshened up,a good upgrading is required. It would not stop me returning there again.
it is a good, basic hotel. It is clean, the staff were great and what on Earth were the other reviewers doing getting a taxi from the Station - it's only e1.60 on the tram! Lines 4 and 25 stop nearby, by far enough away not to be noisy.

The breakfast had a wide choice of ham, cheese ,bread
The building is a traditional canal house so it has steep stairs and no lift.

The only B and B in this area of Amsterdam. Run by Charlotte and very well run at that. Clean and comfortable with a great breakfast. The bed was excellent and - if you are booking with just 2 or 3 people, it's totally private. Very reasonable rates and, surprisingly, you are in control of the breakfast time and the heating !!.
The Jordaan is the best part of Amsterdam (in my humble opinion) and the BandB Jordaan makes a great base for exploring the city - whether on foot, by bike or on the trams and boats. You can walk almost everywhere from here.
I would definitely return.
