Booked hotel via the Internet and arrived with a few doubts as you do but no need to worry at all. We booked direct with the hotel and paid Euro 360 for room only which was a ";special"; rate at that time (April 2004). This rate did not include breakfast.

Got upgraded to 4* as 3* rooms not available (Shame!!). Brand new hotel built in February 2004. Fantastic hotel. White duvet, goose feather pillows, glass bathroom, separate fully tiled wc, red hot power shower, purple carpet and comfortable red velvet pillows (at bottom of bed). Divine.

Fully stocked Mini bar (BEWARE if you take out any of the contents (and don't intend to drink/eat it) you have approx 15 seconds to put it back in the same spot in fridge. If you don't, you will find on checking out of the hotel that the said item is on your bill)!!

Liked the idea that the kettle and tea/coffee making facilities were hidden in drawer. More room on the dressing table.

This hotel is just outside central Amsterdam in the Westerpark area. Takes approx 10 minutes on bus and there is a bus stop directly outside hotel. The hotel has a few unfinished works taking place - while we were there (April 2004) workmen were working on the swimming pool area. We understand it should be ready to use by July/August 2004.

We enjoyed taking the bus everyday as we didn't want to stay in the centre of Amsterdam. We bought a 4 day bus pass (from Tourist office) very cheap.

Travelling round the city is very easy.
Trams are the best and cheapest, but worth buying a hop-on/off ticket for the canal boats one day so you get the tour as well.
Amsterdam was great too - plenty to eat and drink but can be a bit pricey. Just shop around.

In our opinion Amsterdam has everything; if you are a shopaholic (like me) you will be in your element.

Booked one trip to Volendam and Marken which was really nice. This is a completely different Holland to the one you see in Amsterdam. The trip also included a stop-off at a cheese farm and clog maker

All in all a great City and a great Hotel. Definitely go back again soon.

We stayed at the 4* Golden Tulip Amsterdam Art Hotel just outside Amsterdam. The hotel is located on the edge of Amsterdam's historical centre, in the Westerpark area and 10 minutes away from Schiphol Airport. A city bus stops right in front of the hotel and brings you to the city centre.

We stayed in late April 2004 on a 4 night break (breakfast not included) and paid approx Euro 360 for our room.

Accommodation is important to us and we were celebrating a birthday so we thought it was money well spent. When we go back to Amsterdam again we will definitely book this hotel.

We bought a travel pass (very cheap) and enjoyed taking the (frequent) bus service from our hotel into the City centre.

I booked this hotel and flight (via Easy Jet) over the Internet (just 1 week before departure). It's the first time I have booked over the Internet and felt a bit unsure about it but went for it anyway!

Everything turned out great. Can't fault the hotel - it was fabulous. It had just opened in February 2004. All rooms are luxurious in this 4* hotel, trendy furnishings, purple carpet and a fantastically comfortable Queen bed!

Also no problems with Easy Jet (unlike the TV programme) flights were on time and only takes approx 40 minutes from Stansted to Amsterdam.

Loved Amsterdam and looking forward to going again. Shopping, sightseeing, museums, not forgetting the Red Light District which has to be seen! It has the lot. We also had very good weather (definitely a bonus) and also went on a trip to the Windmills and of course the canals and had great days out.

There are some very good (+ clean) cafés in the Centre - just shop around - we found a cafe offering ";Full English"; breakfasts at around e4.95. All in all a great mini break and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will go back.
