Santa Bernarda: We stay in Portimao a lot and decided to do something different one afternoon and chose this trip and we are so glad we did.For 30 Euros pp, this is a great day out. You board at the Marina in Portimao. The ship is a real old-fashioned fishing cutter built in 1968 and then restored as a tourist attraction. It seems very safe and the crew are friendly and helpful. There is also a bar onboard and male and female toilets which are not too bad. We did the Cave Expedition but there are a variety of different tours available. Once out at sea,we climbed into smaller motorboats to investigate the shore caves, but sadly the tide was in so many of the caves were unnavigateable. Very interesting never the less and some really stunning photo ops.

Armacao de pera it is very quite and not a lot to do there, only a couple of English bars which one of them is called the water dog which I would recommend you to pay a visit the owner is called Charlie and his staff make everyone feel welcome, I would recommend the Sunday roast and the bar food which they provide. The rest of the resort is still under going building work so most of the shops are empty. There is also a restaurant called the clipper had a meal there which was recommended but in my opinion would say the food is below average and over priced. You can get a bus from the local resort to albufeira it will cost you 10 euros one way so if ther is more than 2 would recommend a taxi. There are lots to do here and see.

maderia was a total suprise, it is a wonderus place and a must island to see. funchal has an old world charm, with plenty of shops and places of interest to see. people must have a sled ride down the streets to funchal and the cable car ride to the top of funchal.

Monte Gordo is a small, pleasant resort with plenty of bars and restaurants, but no music bars or discos, although a show is available at the casino. The whole resort is charming and the people are friendly.I would recomend the river cruise from Villa Real,a real experience with a lovely meal included and entertainment. If we were to emigrate it would be to Monte Gordo.

The area around the hotel has lots of shops, resturaunts and pubs. There is plenty of places to go but more I would suggest for the younger generation. Also be prepared to be offered 'hash' or watches on a regular basis. I just said no thanks and continued walking and never had a problem. Also the 'old town' that is a 25 min walk down the beach or a short taxi ride away is lovely with endless shops resturaunts and culture. On the whole a great holiday with plenty of things to do, take lots of money eat out now and again in the lovely resturants and most definatly go swimmiong with the dolphins

albufeira is a great place to stop there is plenty to do.there is the new town where most of the hotels are and the strip. this is where you will find most of the restaurants and bars all on one strip.the old town is where you will find mainly restaurants with a few bars. would recommend walking from the new town (praia da oura beach) to the old town along the small cliffs and beaches.

Albufeira itself is wonderful. With plenty of shops, bars and resturants all with in walking distance of each other. We found it to be very cheap and child friendly. A 3 course meal for four (2 adults and 2 kids) with drinks came to e32.50. The dearest we paid for breakfast was e4.50. All the resturant staff we met were very friendly and always had time for the twins. The Portugese are the most friendlest people we met. The price of drink was unbelieve at e1.50 to e2 for a pint and all cocktails e5. There was so many nice places to eat and drink you could pick one place out. But if I had to choose it would be a toss-up between Annabels and Fredis also Nelsons bar is great for all spoting events. We didn't go out late at night so we don't know much about the nightlife. The beach is just brilliant. You could just spend a day there alone. The sand is beautiful and soft and the water crystal clear. It isnt to open so you can relax in comfort. We are already looking forward to next years holiday in Albufeira!

Loads of bars and restaurants in the old town at the bottom of the hill, you will be fitter after your stay.Mamma Mia's was the best eatery we went to which was also the nearest,no hill to climb (ask Rosanna for directions).Very friendly staff, good english, great food and a lovely atmoshphere. Beaches are great and very picturesque.all in all we couldn't fault the apartments or the resort
The resort is very small and quiet but are plenty of supermarkets and local shops to buy souveniers from. The are a few local beaches and things to see. The people are very friendly and helpful. There isnt much nightlife and things to do at nite but are a few nice places to eat.

"Lovely holiday destination"
resort to a friend
As holidays destinations go, Madeira cannot be faulted. Trully amazing place, in a way it reminds me of New Zealand. Beautiful mountains and valleys. Levada walking is amazing.

As our hotel was all inclusive we did not go too far but we did go for awalk every day.The walk down to the old village was quite plasant with a few bars and mainly fish retaurants. We talked to a number of people who had dined in that area and genarally the feed back was positve. There are also plenty of other bars in the other direction and also a few bars where there is entertainment or kareoke. There were a few other hoels which offrered evening enterainment but as usual the drink prices were not cheap but also they were comfortable. The beach was reached either down a number of steps orthough the Porto bay hotel and then down some stone steps. The beach is lovely and well worth the effort but not for the less mobile.
