The strip is 10 minutes walk away, the restaurants we tried were fabulous and could not fault the food at all. Worth a special mention are "Donaldos, "Sunset Pizza" and "The china garden" chinese which are all at the hotel end of the strip. I would not book any trips through the hotel as it is quite expensive from there as someone we met on holiday advised us. If you go up the strip to the top near the main road you will find a place called liza's pizza do a right there and you will see a place called ticket shop with sometimes does half price deals of 2 for one. We went on a trip to a gypsy market on a wednesday and cost for the two of us 9 euro (4.50 euro each half price sale) instead of the hotel who wanted 10 euro each. You get picked up from the road about just outside the hotel for the trips. Definitly worth going on the gypsy market trips one on saturday and one wednesday. The wednesday one is bigger but they are both amazing i got quite a few beautfil stylish bags and my partner loved haggling the price. On the markets or walking about you may get approached by people on the street to buy watches etc but a simple no was sufficient.

The close proximity to the beach, strip and resturants - and very close to the best resturant ever - you really must give the 'sizzling stone' a go - steak and other meats and fish served on a sizzling stone (if u can bear to wear the bib!) an amazing experience and great value for money and wonderful friendly staff and great atmosphere!!! Where not to eat: any resturant on the beach front unless you just won the ottery and dont mind food that really is not worth the money The beach in Albufeira is lovely, however the charge you 8 euro per lounger per day.

Our first visit to Lagos, we came across the Old Tavern, brilliant atmosphere, superb music and welcomed by very friendly staff. Marilyn and Michael are great, and the cocktails they serve are out of this world. Sat at the bar listening to the music, we were mesmerized by the speed marilyn mixed the cocktails and although very busy they made time to chat and joke and give advice on where to visit and places to eat. Needless to say it was our pitstop on the return journey back to our hotel every night. When we next visit Lagos, we will certainly go back to the Old Tavern.

Olhos De Agua review
"Nice, quiet friendly resort"
resort to a friend
We didnt venture out of the hotel much as we were all inclusive. However we did go to the beach a few times which was absolutely beautiful. A short taxi to Albufiera is also a possibilty. The are a couple of shops/restaurants on the walk down and a club not to far away from the hotel for nightime activity.

As our hotel was all inclusive we did not go too far but we did go for awalk every day.The walk down to the old village was quite plasant with a few bars and mainly fish retaurants. We talked to a number of people who had dined in that area and genarally the feed back was positve. There are also plenty of other bars in the other direction and also a few bars where there is entertainment or kareoke. There were a few other hoels which offrered evening enterainment but as usual the drink prices were not cheap but also they were comfortable. The beach was reached either down a number of steps orthough the Porto bay hotel and then down some stone steps. The beach is lovely and well worth the effort but not for the less mobile.

Albufeira itself is wonderful. With plenty of shops, bars and resturants all with in walking distance of each other. We found it to be very cheap and child friendly. A 3 course meal for four (2 adults and 2 kids) with drinks came to e32.50. The dearest we paid for breakfast was e4.50. All the resturant staff we met were very friendly and always had time for the twins. The Portugese are the most friendlest people we met. The price of drink was unbelieve at e1.50 to e2 for a pint and all cocktails e5. There was so many nice places to eat and drink you could pick one place out. But if I had to choose it would be a toss-up between Annabels and Fredis also Nelsons bar is great for all spoting events. We didn't go out late at night so we don't know much about the nightlife. The beach is just brilliant. You could just spend a day there alone. The sand is beautiful and soft and the water crystal clear. It isnt to open so you can relax in comfort. We are already looking forward to next years holiday in Albufeira!

We really liked the resort. It is not crammed full of high rise hotels. We stayed in the new part of town. Apparentely this part of the town wasnt here 12 years ago, but we woulnt have known it. It seemed to keep an atmosphere of being personal and of not being over bearing. We found the locals to be friendly. We got the odd person trying to sell us counterfeit watches, but as soon as one said no to them they gave up. The beaches were not over crowded and were very clean whilst we were there. We really liked Albufeira old town on an evening. We travelled as a family with two just teenage children. That could have worked out very expensive, but there were plenty of places to eat and the food was reasonably priced. They really enjoyed the resort, although i could imagine that they perhaps wouldnt have enjoyed it as much if they had been nearer to thier twenties. There arent hundreds of bars, shops and restaurants but just enough to keep the prices competitive. Overall a good holiday experience.

albufeira is a great place to stop there is plenty to do.there is the new town where most of the hotels are and the strip. this is where you will find most of the restaurants and bars all on one strip.the old town is where you will find mainly restaurants with a few bars. would recommend walking from the new town (praia da oura beach) to the old town along the small cliffs and beaches.

The resort was quiet, too quiet for us. There were a few beaches which we did'nt visit, but apparently were very nice. A courtesy bus ran from the hotel to the beach. The Old Town was excellent and buzzing, plenty of shops, bars, restaurants etc and very picturesc.

There is not a lot to do in Olhos do Agua, other than walk and sunbathe on the beaches. As the sea is the Atlantic, it is tidal, and high tide was at 3pm for 5 days whilst we were there, and that left almost no beach at all to sit on when the tide was in! Best restaurant was the Atlantico - Tourist menu E8.50 or E11 and you got bread, butter, olives and sardine pate, soup, main course of chicken or pork with veg, chips or rice, bowl of salad, dessert, coffee and half a bottle of wine or a bottle of beer each! Wonderful value, and the waiting staff were friendly as well. Also tried Ambrosia and Nectar (large portions of good food), I Fratelli (bland pizza with not a lot of topping) and Tavertino's (good food but service was slow). We walked from the apartment almost to Villamora along the road, then returned along the beach, a very long walk but woth it for the scenery. This is a very peaceful resort, and the local people are friendly.

The main bar strip is a bit tacky, bars which are more suited to rowdy stag do's id say. For nicer bars and cafes and resturants head to the old town much better.
