There's plenty of daytrips to be had. We opted to the 'Zoo Marine', a SeaWorld type aquarium. It's great for kids with plenty of shows (parrot, sea lion and dolphin) and you get an opportunity (for €15 incl photo) to touch a dolphin. There’s some waterslides, an aquarium and rides suitable for smaller children.

Lovely golden beaches and sandy coves - seven beaches to choose from - all very clean..In the old town the little cobbled streets are crammed with bars and shops. the tourist part is very lively with good night life and loads of bars and restaurants. Daily market with loads of interesting little dtalls.

We didn't really see much of the resort, so can't really comment, beach was nice appeared to be a few restaurants/bars around and quite quiet but as I said didn't go into the resort much

The resort was nothing, basically there was nothing to do... you had to go into the strip of Priai De Rocha which was very tacky, aprtments were lovely if there was more to do...

The local Balaia beeches were clean and sandy but got busy in the mornings. There is really not a lot to do there (a few shops and a restaurant).

A taxi ride to Albufeira Old Town (£5 each way) itself is well worth doing. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, but the main beach was busy.

A shorter taxi ride gets you to "The Strip". This is great in the evening, with the shops open until late (midnight and beyond) and a huge choice of bars and restaurants. It felt very safe with our two young children.

only visited the beach but to pout in a review of the resort this section needs to be completed. Not very helpful!

Love it! We used the tourist train to go to the beach and the old part of Abufeira, it cost 3.50 euros for the day (use the ticket as many times as you want), well worth the money. There was plenty of restaurants and bars to eat at, try the bar next to the Albufeira supermarket (opposite Mc Donalds), excellent quality and great value for money. Plenty to do and you feel safe anytime night or day. Lovely people, lovely place.

Praia da rocha is a very nice resort a good choice in the algarve plenty to do and a good selection of bars and resturants. lovely beach and very pretty scenery.

Alvor is a lovely resort , great beaches though sea can be rough and cold as its the Atlantic. Loads of lovely restaurants , you are spoiled for choice , down near the harbour area there are lots of fish restaurants which are not to expensive , most fish is priced by weight. But there are italian , chinese , indian and tapas also. There are some nice shops too jewellery , ladies clothes and nik nak shops. There are alos lots of places where you can book day trips, golf etc . We did the Sand sculptures trip to Algoz and went at 1730 in the evening which was still very hot , which was great to see. This is our 2nd visit to Alvor and will definately return.

You would need transport of some kind to get about as it is a bit away from the town centre. Otherwise everything within hotel grounds

Went to local beach- luvly & very clean. Town was about 20 min walk from hv but to be honest our kids did not want to venture out because there was so much goin on in holiday village.

The resort was beautiful, in the Strip there was lots of nightlife, lovely restaurants and bars. Most bars offer you the first drink / shot free and if you arrive between 8 - 11 it is happy hour so very cheap. Most bars offered buy one get one free after 11pm. The Old Town was more quiet, for familes - nicer restaurants and less noise and bars. Overall a lovely resort!

What an amazing view of the ocean and the vally. We really loaded up our batteries in this beautiful gem of tranquility , peace and Joy. The owners made you feel at home and had lots of tips of what to do and what to see. They have a genuine interest in people. This beautiful place is very well suited for hikers as we are. We signed in for a guided hike which was a pleasure and nice to know the details of the surrounding and we also went strolling on our own with good routedescriptions of walks. One of the highlights was the jacuzzi and enjoying the amazing views, or stars at night. We had a very good time at the Art of Joy

Very clean, the beach was define with white sand and clear warm water. Hidden from the busy resort of albeifeira. Paradise it is.

Made up of buildings painted in reds and yellows, the village-esque feel of the Tivoli Marina Portimao is one of its main pulls. The setting is another – it’s tucked in generous gardens and overlooks the moored yachts in the marina. But it’s the reception and pool that transforms this place from village to hotel, and places it firmly in the four star hotel league. Step into the reception and you’ll find a whitewashed space decked out with stylish, high-backed chairs and sink-into-me sofas. The pool scene, meanwhile, is home to a pair of pools – one lake-sized and both fringed with sunbeds and parasols.
