built in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to do but sunbathe, no nightlife, the resort itself is very clean, very isolated

Albufeira review
"Oldtown - Excellent, The Strip - tacky"
resort to a friend
Albufeira is a lovely resort but a little spread out and doesnt really have a centre. We loved the Old Town but the strip was about half an hour walk away. The beaches are stunning but there are very few sunbeds. The Old Town is perfect for having a nice meal out and then heading to a bar to people watch, there is a lovely buzz and plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

The resort is very very quiet so dont go there if you are looking for plenty to do. Also Im vegitarian and found it very hard food wise as its mostly meat and fish (pizzas really fatty aswell) and only a handfull of resturants. It was clean though and the restuarant owners are nice. You can however get a taxi into Albulferia as the old town is very nice, about 16 euros in the taxi to there. The beach in Falesia is down a steep hill and lots of steps, not good if you have a pushchair!!!!

Beach was nice and also appeared very clean. We only saw it briefly as the kids hated the sand on their feet!! Sea is very cold in Portugal which the kids didn't like.
We found a bar called the Dreamz Bar where it is 2.25 for a pint of beer, which is cheap compared to everywhere else in Falesia where you'll pay 3 - 3.50. The staff were also very friendly here and made us feel welcome. The only problem is that it is quite isolated and the other bars and restaurants are a good 15 minutes walk away from this one.
There is virtually no nightlife in Falesia. There is a square with a handful of restaurants / bars but nothing to get excited about. Absolutely nothing to see or do, unless you book an excursion with your hotel. We went to Slide and Splash in Lagos which was a good day out.
I was really quite bored on this holiday and spent most of the daytime by our hotel pool, and the nights in Albufeira. There is a bus stop in Falesia where you can get the bus to Albufeira, but the last bus back is at 7pm so you'll need to get a taxi which costs 11 - 13 euros, depending on which way your taxi driver goes.
I would go back to Portugal, but not to this resort. Not much for a family to do and see here. If you're an older couple looking for somewhere very quiet, where you can relax in the same bar every night then this holiday would probably suit you. It wasn't for us though.

Olhos De Agua review
"Beautiful small fishing village"
resort to a friend
Olhos De Agua is a lovely small fishing village with plenty of restaurants – but be aware of the LA CIGALE at the beach it’s very expensive they don’t show the prices. Cost 43.50 Euros - on the bill - for 2 beef stroganoffs, and 2 teas, but only gave us 1.50 change from 50 Euros. Any other night the bill was between 18-23 Euros, so expect to pay double if you eat there. The weather was excellent. There for 10 days temperature ranged from 26-32 degrees – although there was heavy rain one day by 4.30 pm it was 26 degrees. The beach is beautiful especially at night watching the sunset, but can get very busy during the day. If you fancy climbing the rocks – or you can walk about 20-30 minutes - you can reach the Falesia beach, which is much larger. Albuferia is also about 40 minutes walk – or 7 Euros in a taxi – with a much larger beach, and the Old Town which is well worth a visit, although the marina was disappointing a few empty bars and restaurant. There is also of few other beaches on the way to Albuferia. We went to Oura which again was very pretty beach with plenty of sun beds and straw umbrellas – but the hill up from the beach is very steep and would not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. I would say if you’re looking for a quiet relaxing holiday Olhos De Agua is a perfect choice. Its mostly suited to couples and families.

I found this resort very pleasent, very good beaches, Fair selection of bars and restuarants. Prices to suit every pocket. Casino is a good night out for meal and show. Worth going over to Spain on ferry. Area flat suitable for those with walking difficulties

not a lot to see or do and as we were all inclusive at our hotel we didn't use any bars or restaurants. Beach seemed quite crowded so we took a taxi to the larger beach at Albufeira.

Albufeira review
"'Albuferia town' itself is lovely"
resort to a friend
Albuferia town itself is lovely, the town itself is buzzing and we were told had excellent night life.
We booked through sunmasters as a last minute thing. Would reconsider next time to check out other people's reviews properly and not go off what the tour operator says. We did check on several webpages what other people had said before actually booking it, the tour operator told us that the accommodation had great reviews and had everything we would need, but while we were away my daughter came across up-to-date reviews that basically said the same as what we have!!! Too late then, when actually there.

The resort has changed a lot in the last couple of years and there are large numbers of restaurants and bars. There are also a good range of shops, some of which sell some nice colourful jewellery. Recent additions include two outdoor escalators and an outdoor lift instead of having to climb steep inclines like you had to in the past. The only thing we didn't like was that there are people outside every restaurant trying to get you to go in - this got on our nerves after a while.

This is a very commercialised resort with a huge amount of British/Irish visitors. Do we all really want large screen tv showing football and Britains got talent. we would love to have seen more traditional Portuguese bars and restaurants. Street touts drove us mad trying to get us in to their bars and restaurants. this is an ok resort but don't expect any Portuguese culture. its been lost here sadly! but on the up side you have a great choice of bars and restaurants to visit and its close to the beach. pavements are cobbled and rather unsuited to baby buggies and those unsteady on their feet.
