Praia Do Vau isn't a resort, there is nothing there but the beach and a few hotels, no bars or shops to explore, nothing in the vacinity. We really wanted to give a better opinion of the Estrela Do Vau we are not into hotel bashing but we just cannot. It wasn't the place we would choose. It is too far from anywhere to make for a good holiday, a few local bars would help enormously but there is nowhere to build any so that isn't going to happen. The beach was very nice but a ten minute walk away, the pools were not cleaned to a good enough standard and for a remote hotel the entertainment was awful. Plus points- weather fantastic, Portuguese people were really really friendly. Alvor and Rocha although different both had their good points Rocha is lively but not over the top. Alvor is quaint and understated but lovely and picturesque.Being in the middle take your choice.Eating and drinking out was OK gone are the days of cheap beer and food, prices are the same as home if not slightly more expensive. Local beer at 3 euros a pint British beer dearer, breakfasts around 4-5 euros for 1 egg 1 sausage 1 bacon, beans 1 slice of toast and tea extra.meals out steak 12 euros fish the same. We would say we had a satisfactory holiday though sadly not a great one. We love Portugal and intend to go back really soon just not to the Estrela or Praia Do Vau.

The resort of Praia Do Vau is small and quiet, but with a great beach, couple of nice places to eat at lunch time, grilled sardines and salad!! Great!! Take a taxi to Alvor or Praia Da Rocha, for your evening entertainment. Palo at recept will order your taxi...
