Vitor's plaza was a fantastic Aparthotel with good sized, clean apartments and excellent facilities. The main pool was a good size with plenty of sunbeds around. There was no problem in getting a sunbed whatever the time. The weather was fantastic, with only 1 overcast day in 8 days. Vitor's Plaza is located in a very quiet spot requiring taxis to pretty much anywhere. The prices in the shop reflect the hotel's isolation as does the cost of the bar which is extortionate even by London standards.

The beaches were beautiful, clean and very quiet with only the occasional hawker or strange Chinese masseur. Expect to pay 5 euros for a sunbed at the beach. Cost of food and drink was extortionate in local supermarkets. Do not bother with those in the i...

We have just spent 2 weeks in Vitor's plaza in August 2008 with our 14 year old daughter and had a wonderful time. It is located a 4 euro taxi drive from Alvor and a 6 euro taxidrive from Praia da Rocha. Free courtesy bus morning and afternoon to Praia da Rocha and Praia da Vau. Not really walking distance (unless you like a good walk) but as taxi's were cheap we did not mind. Just make sure if you go here to include a budget for taxis. Lovely pool, can't understand why so many people complain it is cold. When the daytime temperature is 30 degrees celsius it is lovely to get into this cool pool! Appartments excellent and roomy with large balcony. We used the onsite restaurant twice, food fairly good, we had the Cataplana dish and it was very nice. Sunbeds were put out daily at around 9 am which gave everyone a chance to get one. Onsite shop expensive, we went around the corner to the Alisuper for our basic supplies such as water, beer and fruit. Not a lot to do for teenagers but our daughter took part in the daily water polo games etc, which kept her amused for some of the time. Would definitely come here again.

Lovely large apartments and balcony, no bad views either, the pool is large and deep at parts so great for swimming. this is a good place to stay if you want a quiet holiday, you can get a taxi from hotel to alvor ( which has nice shops and grest eateries, its an old village with a great atmosphere) or pria de rocha( stunning beach, spotless , lovely eating places and lovely walk along boardwalk)hotel staff great, cant fault the place at all and yes we would go back. the only downfall was the return journey with thomas cook, they took so long to check everyone through ( the fact that they closed two desks didnt help)that they were calling for us to board as we were still in queue to check in, we just got time to go to the loo before boarding plane. other than that you wont be disappointed, its also a great place if you have younger children as they have kids clubs.

If you are looking for a hactic nightlife, then this is not for you! Vitors is a short taxi ride from classy Alvor or bustling Praia Da Rocha, so it is peaceful and relaxing. The other guests therefore (mostly British and Irish) also tend to be those looking to relax, so you dont have to put up with the ";lager louts!";.

The apartment is huge (bigger than any 4* rooms we have had) and there is lots of space around the buildings. The swimming pool is rarely overcrowded, but you need to get to a sunlounger by 10 o'clock! We were really impressed by the staff, who went out of their way to be helpful. we had a problem with our hire car (DONT book through Bravacar!)and reception phoned for us and when they got no joy, they rang head office in Lisbon and got it sorted! The cleaners keep the place spotless. reviews on this site warned of ear infections and I did get one, but the kids spent most of the time underwater and were fine, so I was just unlucky.

the restaurant is OK, but small and there is so much more choice in Alvor that we ate there most evenings. Our favourite was La Piazza just down from the A1 supermarket (lovely pizzas and pasta dishes for 6 euros)but if you want to bust a gut, try the Hang Zhou; all you can eat for 9.50 and only 3.90 for kids. To be honest, all our meals were good, so choose a place for yourself! A hire car will save all the taxi fares and allows you to get out and about. Cape St Vincent and the west coast beaches are really impressive. The beaches at Praia do Vau and Alvor are lovely if you can prise the kids away from the pool!

If you want a relaxing break in a clean, friendly hotel, then Vitors is for you!
