"A lovely town"
Overall Resort Rating:
A lovely town with a great market and scenic areas. The beaches were very nearby and appeared very clean. Plenty of places to go to eat and lots of shops for all requirements.

"Great and Quiet place"
Overall Resort Rating:
Quarteira is a very quiet place, it is perfect for a relaxing weekend. The beaches are great and you have a lot of restaurants to choose from so you can never get bored.

"picturesque"
Overall Resort Rating:
pretty resort with plenty of amenities. Close to beach and lots of places to visit locally. You will never be short of places to go to eat and prices are quite reasonable. Plenty of excursions available if you want to travel further afield.

Quarteira is not really a resort,more a base for exploring the Algarve.But accomodation is cheap,it is near Faro airport,and within easy reach of all the well known resorts.

Quiet at Christmas but Party Animal Paradise in High Season. Highh Rise,grey concrete.Bus station near the centre..provides an escape to other clone town...travel is expensive. People are helpful and friendly

"good base"
Overall Resort Rating:
Hotels tend to be less expensive in Quarteira than the rest of the Algarve,and with good reason.While there are beaches and other tourist attractions the town is not very attractive.It's great asset however is that it lies a short distance frm Vilamoura,a wonderful purpose built marina which has become a sophisticated resort.Well known Algarve resorts like Praia de Rocha are also nearby.

Nice beaches but a big town with not much in it. in terms of shops etc. A good market there once a week though. It tours all the local towns on different days.

"Portugese Routemarch"

We went at the end of the season,the weather was still good.
Did not get the impression the area was for the young or young at heart as quarteira I'm told, was a small fishing village back in the days, so it may suite the elder person.
This part of portugal is not ideal if you do not have your own transport,taxis do work out expensive and local transport could be better.
