Sofitel Reviews

We found the Sofitel in Lisbon to be ideal for our requirements on a two night minibreak. From the moment we arrived, staff were attentive, polite and cheerful. Our room was exactly as portrayed on the hotel website, modern and fairly spacious. The bathroom was very new and modern, with robes and slippers and nice toiletries. The hotel is situated on the main avenue of Lisbon, the home of many high end designer shops. There are few cafes etc. actually on the Avenue Liberdade, but it is a pleasant 5 minute walk down to Rossio Square. We chose to eat breakfast down in the square rather than in the hotel (it was rather expensive for not our main meal - although I'm sure it was lovely). But the local square had plenty of cafes where you can sit outside and have a bacon sandwich and coffee and orange juice. Cafe Nicola was nice. We received excellent advice from reception staff about where to have an anniversary meal and they even made reservations for us. The restaurant was lovely, reasonable and very trendy and was a brilliant suggestion, it was nearby but up a little street that we would never have found ourselves. We didn't drink in the hotel bar, although it looked nice, as we just enjoyed being out and about in the city. All in all we were very pleased with our choice of hotel, opposite the airport bus stop and well situated all round. If you want breakfast included in the price, the Marquis de Pombai Hotel was only a couple of minutes further up the same road and also had excellent reviews when we booked but I thought it was further away than it actually is. I would highly recommend the Avenue Liberdade as a safe area to stay while in Lisbon.
